Dearest Family,
HAPPY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO TIMOTHY NEXT SUNDAY
- Timothy will be 15 years old and I'm SO proud of him!!! He is such a
good student, a good son, a good brother, a good grandson and just a
GOOD young man!!! I hope you have a WONDERFUL birthday Timothy with
some friends over for a party or something special with just your
family. I hope you are enjoying Central High School - that is such a
beautiful and fabulous school and I'm glad you are going there!!!
WOW - THIS HAS BEEN WEDDING WEEK IN OUR
FAMILY AND I HAVE LOVED IT!!!! I went to a bridal shower for Lee Anna
in Provo on Tuesday night and I am SO happy I went. It was given by the
Woolley's neighbors at Mary Ann Jackson's home and I have admired their
home from "afar" but I had never been inside and it is a beautiful home
that just radiates love and warmth. Mary Ann & her husband were in
Brazil for three years where Bro. Jackson served as Mission President
and they have been home for about three years and he has just been
called to be Stake President in their stake. It was good to have him
with us - he served the refreshments. Annie has WONDERFUL friends and
they love her and Ron and their family. Lee Anna looked SO pretty and
she received many lovely gifts.
Friday was the wedding day for Lee Anna &
Chris Marlais in the Mt. Timpanogas Temple in American Fork (the city
next to Lehi). I went with Jeannie and we got there about 1 o'clock and
since the sealing didn't take place until 2 o'clock it was nice to just
relax outside the temple grounds and it was just a gorgeous day. I
was the only one relaxing though because Chris' parents were frantically
waiting for someone to bring his tuxedo and I believe his recommend was
inside a pocket. I have a picture of Chris' mother, Janis, on the steps
of the temple with her cell phone trying to give directions to those
driving from Salt Lake. Jeannie was also on her cell phone giving
directions to Barji, Sarah & Danny. I finally went to the marriage
waiting room and then everyone came and we were in the sealing room
exactly on time. I want to write those attending the ceremony: Ann,
Ron, Susanna, Steve, Jessie, Jared, Russell, Jean, Rick, Barji, Ricky,
Claire, Granpa Russ, Sue Grondahl, Mimi, Grandma B and many friends of
Lee Anna & Chris. Bro. Holdaway performed the ceremony and I just loved
it - he did a beautiful job!!! Sarah and Danny took care of Jackson &
Caroline and I know Roy & Patrice can relate to that - they took care of
all the children at the Jordan River Temple when John & Julianna were
married. Boyd stayed home and took care of Preston & Gracie. We all
went to the Woolley's home and made sandwiches before going to the
reception. John was there for the reception - I told him he had to be
there for the family picture at 5:30 but Bob, Laura (and Matt) and Katie
got stuck in traffic so we didn't get the picture taken until at the end
of the reception and many of our family members had left - OH WELL!!!!
Mary Ann & David got to the reception about the time the Bob Mellors got
there. They said it was a "parking lot" on the freeway from about Lehi
to Provo and they were late.
The reception was held in the Art Gallery
belonging to Ann & Rons' neighbors - Michael and Jackie Coleman. The
gallery is on main street in Provo and I can honestly say I have never
seen a more beautifully decorated place AND Ann did most of it. She has
a neighbor friend who is a florist and she did the flowers as Annie
designed them and I am still "in awe" when I think about them. I took
LOTS of pictures of the entire large room but they are blurry - I'm
still trying to learn how to use my new camera. Their photographer is
one of the best in Utah County so I'm sure he got many pictures of
EVERYTHING. They had the chairs around the round tables with white
covers on them and then large bows of gold heavy weight tulle tied
around the chairs. The centerpieces on the tables were "out of this
world" and in Lee Anna's colors of gold, beige, and Fall colors. The
refreshments were also "out of this world" - strawberry and pina colada
non-alcholic daiquiris topped with whipped cream, marinated chicken
breast on skewers, steamed vegetables, stuffed miushrooms, crackers,
chocolate dipped strawberries & pastries. There were many REALLY
beautiful Oriental rugs throughout the room and I worried about the
strawberry being spilled on them. The entrance table had a HUGE floral
centerpiece on it and there was another HUGE one on the wall above where
the receiving line was. They had large bowls of mixed nuts all over on
the tables and as the guests left Jeannie handed them a small candle
that had been wrapped in tulle and she thanked them for coming. I don't
believe there was ONE thing that could have been done that wasn't!!!
I have MANY pictures - some very good and
some very bad - Ha!!! The receiving line was PICTURE PERFECT - Annie
looked like a movie star in a gold skirt with a white "wrap around long
sleeved elegant blouse" and Janis was in a white jeweled knit suit and
she is a beautiful woman too. Lee Anna's wedding dress reminded me of
Cinderella - a jeweled top and organza skirt that is jeweled at the
waist. Chris, Ron & Chris' Father James looked VERY handsome in their
tuxedos. The corsages and boutonnieres and bride's bouquet were white
roses with gold trimmings - mine is in my refrigerator and I LOVE it.
The bridesmaids carried beautiful bouquets similar to the bridal bouquet
except for more gold and brass filling. Mimi was SO proud of hers and
my picture of her turned out good. I have never seen such a BEAUTIFUL
wedding cake - Jessie said it was like an "oreo cake" - it was three
tiers and frosted with "hard" chocolate and it was HEAVENLY!!!!
I believe everyone in their ward came to the
reception and it was fun for me to see those I had met when I lived in
Orem. They all love the Woolley family!!!! Would you believe Lynn's
sister Shirley came??? She and her husband Glen Pinegar came and I was
VERY happy about that - they have been invited to everything before but
have never come - Glen isn't very well. I was kinda' embarressed - Glen
asked Mark Harmon to get him a glass of plain water without ice - I
guess he thought he was a waiter. Mark & Robyn Harmon have been good
friends of the Woolleys for forever. Paula Pack also came - she is
such a loyal relative and she always has to come alone. Cheryl came and
she really enjoyed it - you are all SO sweet to her and that makes me
happy - Don will never be able to come to anything like that again.
Sandra and Steven Covey came and I wanted to ask him if he remembered
when he came to Little Rock for a stake conference but they were in a
hurry and I didn't get to talk to him. There were MANY things going on
that night - BYU homecoming, etc. Annie's college friend who has meant
SO much to our family, Ann Kilpack, also came with her husband. She was
visiting Ann at the time Jessie had her eye accident and told Annie to
get her to the hospital immediately - GREAT ADVICE - she is a registered
nurse and knew Jessie needed medical treatment fast.
Grandpa Russ came with his daughter and
son-in-law from Idaho and he had a story to tell. His daughter Joanne
and her husband Earl have sold their Idaho home and plan to travel in
their large trailer to warmer climates during the Winter SO Grandpa Russ
decided to buy a trailer and go with them. IT SOUNDS LIKE A GREAT IDEA
TO ME!!! Joanne and Earl will do the driving but it will be a new
experience for Grandpa Russ and I'm betting he will LOVE it!!! Joanne
and Earl have had a VERY successful catering business in Idaho and their
daughter and her husband will now run that - it was fun to hear about
their kitchen, etc. Sue is truly an angel and will have Mimi live with
her - Mimi is very involved in church activities in Layton and is VERY
happy and doing well physically.
We missed the Roy Mellor family, Michael &
Staci and Boyd, Preston & Gracie. I think it is quite remarkable that
many of my family members could attend all the things they did. Susanna
& Steve have brought their little children to so many different
activities this Summer and I love to look at the pictures of Jackson &
Caroline as they struggle to "be good" - Ha!!! They came on Thursday
night and I believe they will go back to Phoenix today. It is so much
fun to become better acquainted with Danny Flint, Sarah's fiance' and to
have Laura's friend/boy, Matt Westin (is that right?) with us. I am
VERY, VERY PROUD OF MY FAMILY!!!!
I had such a GOOD time last Monday night. I
went to the Weinert's home for a birthday dinner for Mary Ann and their
whole family was there - Jeannie is such a good cook and the dinner was
WONDERFUL. She made "buttermilk pie" for the birthday cake because it
is Mary Ann's favorite and it was delicious and then she served
spaghetti with three different toppings. I loved being with Boyd,
Preston and Gracie too - I haven't seen them for a long time.
I stopped in Highland when I went to Provo
for the shower and I LOVE to go to John's home. His horses were in his
yard with Tar and his little kittens were in the garage. It was funny -
one of his kittens got into his home and I knew I couldn't leave it
there so it took some patience to "corner it" and get it out.
Have any of you read the "Mormon" article in
the Newsweek magazine? I accessed it on the internet and enjoyed
reading it. One of the church historians they refer to is Richard
Bushman and he is a relative of ours. My great-grandmother is Sarah
Bushman. I'm going to have to do some research and see how closely we
are related.
BRETT & JIMMY - We missed you at the wedding
activities. Jimmy's cardboard picture with "Buddy" was in our pictures
and that will always be special. I know you missed being with your
families but believe me, they are all VERY happy and proud to have you
in Brazil doing missionary work. Claire has done SO much work with my
picture project - I hope she hasn't neglected doing things for you
Brett. She is such a talented photographer and we all LOVE her pictures
on the computer and I know enough about that to know it takes ALOT OF
TIME!!!!
I hope each one of you will have the
opportunity to drive into the canyons and enjoy the Fall leaves. I
don't believe I have ever seen them more gorgeous. That's all the news,
I think. I LOVE EACH ONE OF YOU SO VERY, VERY MUCH. PLEASE BE SO VERY,
VERY CAREFUL IN EVERYTHING YOU DO. GRANDMA B XXXXXOOOOO
