Weekly Report August 14, 2005

Dearest Family,

We have had just beautiful weather the last couple days - kinda' like Fall!!  I am thinking about Jeannie and Rick especially because they planned to take a "picnic" for Ricky today after their Stake Conference and I hope their plans work out.  Elder Boyd Packer is their Stake visiting authority today and I'm anxious to hear about his message from Rick & Jean and I'll also be interested in learning if his wife Donna is with him.  Donna was a friend of mine MANY years ago and she has been in ill health.  Ricky is doing GREAT but they haven't seen him for a couple weeks and since their meetings would be over early that would be a perfect thing to do.  I'm sure they could find a good place for a picnic outside today - WHAT A FUN IDEA!!!

Lee Anna - THANK YOU SO MUCH for your detailed letter about your wedding plans.  It always helps me ALOT when I have something in print to put on my refrigerator to refer to.  Your plans sound perfect and I'm SO excited for both you and Chris and I will be there for EVERYTHING.  The Mt. Timpanogas Temple is a beautiful temple and probably not as crowded as the Provo Temple.

Laura - THANK YOU SO MUCH for your sweet letter - I LOVED it.  I'm thrilled that you are going to work for an accounting firm in Kaysville starting the last of October.  Will you be able to take some night classes at Weber State University or will you have to go to Logan.  Laura wants to get her master's degree in accounting with her goal to be a C.P.A.  Our family REALLY needs a good accountant - that is SO far above my brains!!!
GOOD FOR YOU LAURA!!!

Sarah - your Mom said you had a good time boating, skiing, etc. at Bear Lake with your friend Danny Flint.  That is such a beautiful lake but so VERY, VERY COLD!!!  Sarah is at "Cheer Camp" for three days with her cheerleading students from Bountiful Junior High and then she will start back in school at the University of Utah.

Mary Ann and Jean spent a day together shopping last week and Jeannie said they had a good time and Mary Ann is feeling good and having fun decorating their new home.  They are excited to get their little baby's room ready.  Mary Ann likes sushi and David doesn't so they went for lunch at a sushi place - Ha!!!  That's my kind of food too Mary Ann.
Barji & Boyd have been in Missouri and will be in Reno this next week - Jeannie & Rick are going to Lake Tahoe for their wedding anniversary and will be with them part of the time.  The last time I talked to Rick, he was SO homesick for little Gracie so I know he will be happy to see both Preston & Gracie again.

Claire - Thank you for your phone call on Monday to let me know you were all home safe and sound.  They had a simply WONDERFUL time on their cruise - I can't think of any more fun than to have your family together on a cruise ship where they couldn't escape - Ha!!!  They missed Brett but he is having LOTS of fun where he is too - Ha!!!  Claire was already missing Michael and Staci who have moved into their apartment in Pocatello, Idaho.  Staci had to go to work on Monday morning so she had left before Michael.  I am SO happy for them to be able to begin their studies doing exactly what they want to do.

Brett - I am SO sorry about your "robbery".  Brett and his companion had been to lunch at the home of one of their ward members and when they arrived back to their apartment they found "destruction".  You have all probably heard about this but I want it for my journal.  They discovered that a Brazillian had used an 8 ft. bamboo stick with a hook made from a hanger on the end of it to go through a broken window in their apartment and they stole Brett's CD player, speakers, CDs, watch, Brazillian money, and Portuguese books.  Brett - you'll have to admit that was a pretty "cool" way to rob you and I hope you took some pictures of it - I hope they didn't steal your camera.  I'm glad you aren't homesick for Howard anymore - he said there are MANY parrots around where he lives and they awaken them in the mornings.  The "Ribeirao Preto Mission" sounds like a mighty outstanding mission to me - 2,000 baptisms a year is fabulous.  Our missionaries in Montana worked their hearts out to get 100 a month and quite often they didn't get that many.  I'm SO happy you are playing soccer with your Brazillian friends - do they play it differently from here in America?

John - THANK YOU SO MUCH for your phone call and also for taking care of the Lehi property business.  I had received a letter about some "flood control" that involved our property and it was all "Greek" to me so I sent it to John and he took care of it.  That makes it SO easy for me!!!  Thank you too for taking flowers to Lynn's grave - he takes them "planted" so they last a long time.

I went to Willard on Tuesday for my hair cut and it was a beautiful day.  The fruit stands are full of delicious fruits and vegetables.  I was in a BIG hurry because I had to get back in time to go visiting teaching and I want to go back.  The peaches are as good as any fruit I had in Thailand and THAT'S SAYING SOMETHING!!!  They also had apricots and it made me sad because Chris & Wayne wanted some and I didn't know where to get them - they didn't stay long enough to go anyplace.

I went to the Roger's Memorial Theatre for their production of "Fiddler on the Roof" and I know it couldn't have been better on Broadway.  There is SO much talent here and I really enjoyed it.  I also went to the Bountiful Cultural Fair on Friday night - that was fun too but I missed having the entertainers from Thailand to perform - they didn't come this year.  I went to a wedding reception last night and it was at a bowery of one of the churches in Kaysville and it was lovely.  The bride is one of 10 children and her sisters were all in long burgundy satin bridesmaids' dresses.  They had a "CHOCOLATE FOUNTAIN"!!!

I talked to a young woman at church this morning who attends BYU Idaho in Rexburg, Idaho.  I have enjoyed reading about their new President.  He was a Dean of the History Department at Harvard and when he received a call from President Hinckley to move to Rexburg he said he didn't have to think twice about whether or not he would accept the position.  WHAT A CHANGE!!!  He is moving from busy Boston to almost country Idaho.  I told this young woman about my son and his wife who went to Brown University and she was very knowledgable about it.  I think about Emily and her plans for college next year and I hope her plans all work out.

I know you all received the information I forwarded to you concerning the Memorial for my brother F/O Robert W. Forrest Jr. in Australia this morning.  I don't know the difference in their time and ours so I just thought about it all morning and I'm looking forward to receiving more information about it and hopefully a video.  I get sad when I think about those times in my life so I try to not think about them.  War is SO bad - my heart goes out to the many families who are losing loved ones in the Iraqi war.

That's all the news, I think.  I LOVE EACH ONE OF YOU SO VERY, VERY MUCH.  PLEASE BE SO VERY, VERY CAREFUL IN EVERYTHING YOU DO.  Grandma B XXXXXOOOOO
