Weekly Report June 5, 2005

Dearest Family,

HAPPY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO JOHN TOMORROW - JUNE 6TH!!!!  I found a REALLY cute 39th birthday card for him but I have lost it - I put things away in very safe places and they're SO safe I can never find them.  This will be the last legitimate year he will be able to claim 39 as his birthday - many of us try to get away with this for a long time but it hasn't worked for me for a LONG, LONG TIME!!!  I hope you have a WONDERFUL day tomorrow John - I would bring you a birthday cake if I thought you would eat it but I know differently.  I'm VERY proud of all you have accomplished in your 39 years!!!!!

I will never forget 39 years ago and I believe I mention this every year.  It's funny but every year on John's birthday my thoughts go to the "Aston" family in Little Rock because Bob & Roy had the two Aston boys over for a "sleepover" in our backyard that very night.  It was time to go to the hospital for John to be born and they were nowhere to be found - we couldn't leave until we found them so after awakening Ann & Jean we looked all over the neighborhood and finally them not too far away.  As it turned out - John wasn't born until the next day - Ha!!!

John has had a "kinda'" birthday party this past week with the men he works with at Omniture.  His boss has a houseboat that he keeps at Waheep and nine of them spent the week on a "working-vacation".  I worried about the weather because it has been so cold and rainy here in Farmington but John said it was PERFECT!!!  He said it took 6 hours to get to Waheep compared to 4 hours to bullfrog - I don't believe I have ever been there.  He had fun wakeboarding, etc.  I asked him what they did for food and he said they had people in Page equip it for them - TOO EASY!!!!

I went to Lehi on Thursday to get the missionary flag from Lynn's grave and I stopped in Highland to see if John had come home - I just missed him - he got home about two hours later.  His home looked SO pretty - he has a young woman who cleans for him occasionally and she was there - I would like to hire her to clean my house!!!  His roses in front of his home are in full bloom and they are SO pretty.  Tar barked at me and kicked his ball for me to toss for him - he is such a beautiful dog.

Annie - there has been alot on the news about "shingles".  I wish I had known so I could have called you.  They have developed a vaccine for them AND that is WONDERFUL news.  Dr. Tim Johnson on ABC gave such a good explanation about them and I don't know when you get the vaccine but you need to find out.  Annie still has some of the rash on her arm but she says she feels good.

Bob & Claire - thank you for your visit last Sunday.  They are going to Nauvoo tomorrow to spend next week and that will be a good trip for them - low key and knowledgeable.  They are introducing a new church program there but Claire said it wouldn't start for another month.  My friend, Helen Jane Lemon, spent a year there as the pianist for the program they have now.

Brett - I hope your family hears from you this week.  I remember those days and you have SO many new things to do that writing letters doesn't have top priority.  I haven't heard if you have access to the internet but I'm betting you will soon.  I know you're overwhelmed with the changes in your life and things will get to be more normal with time.  A young woman announced her mission call in church this morning and she is going to Tacoma, Washington - a young man in our ward is going to the same place and he leaves this next week.  I think that's kinda' unusual.  My neighbors and friends announced today that their granddaughter from Arizona just received her call to go to Guatemala.  They want to come see the Guatemala Video that Bob & Claire gave to me.

Susanna - thank you SO much for your messages and photos on the internet.  I LOVED seeing the Reevesboys website but I just about cried when I saw little Jackson with his stitched up cut on his forehead.  You will be surprised in how quickly it heals and he wouldn't be a normal little boy if he didn't have scars.  That little Caroline is surely a queen among all her boy cousins.  I'm SO glad you had a good time in Florida - the beach looked mighty enticing.

Claire - thank you for your letters.  I am SO sorry that Daisy got hurt but it could very easily be a "blessing in disguise".  Daisy ran into the street and was hit by a car - she is SO tiny it is a miracle she wasn't killed.  Claire said they took her to the vet and he put a little collar on her head to keep her from licking her cuts but other than that she will be just fine.  I'm betting she will learn from that experience and stay away from the street.
I LOVED the pictures of Michael and Staci working on their "bed stand" - they are SO capable in doing things like that.  Michael learned SO many carpentry skills from his Dad.

Jeannie - thank you for your LONG phone call last Sunday.  We just missed them on their trip to Brigham City to decorate Christopher's grave so we had a good phone visit.  Things are fine in the Weinert household.  Mary Ann is feeling better and each day will be a big improvement for her and her pregnancy (and it will be easier for David too - Ha).

I know the Roy Mellors are doing good too.  I'm wondering what Emily has planned to do this Summer - she has always had her Summers planned far ahead.  Timothy and Jesse will have LOTS of plans too, I'm sure.  Their schools are probably over by now.

WELL - MY NEW DOOR IS FINALLY INSTALLED.  I like it very much and I guess that's all that matters but I expect someone to ask me when church starts when they come to see me.  It is a "cathedral" door and probably looks like an entrance to a church.  It is a very sturdy door and can be locked with a key.  The key is under a new artificial plant arrangement by the window and it is the key with the shoe lace.  I LOVE it because I can keep it open all the time and it makes my living room so much lighter.  They have told me I can expect my new windows anytime between the 10th and the 15th - we'll see!!!!

We have planned a "PIE POOL PARTY" for our condominium village for tomorrow and the weather forecast is for RAIN!!!  We have decided to go ahead with our plans and if it rains I will have them come to my condo and we'll have it on my deck.  I HOPE IT DOESN'T RAIN.  This is the easiest way in the world to have a party - we ask everyone to bring a pie to share and then take home what is left.  I would LOVE to have any of you who would like to come swim in the pool - it is just WONDERFUL AND YOU'RE SO WELCOME.  The key to the pool is in that little bag by the desk in the kitchen.  I swim every morning.

I went to an International D.U.P. meeting and luncheon yesterday.  They let me leave the temple at 10 a.m. so I could get to the Sheraton Hotel in Salt Lake by 10:30.  I have told them I would be historian for the company D.U.P. and I didn't realize what a big job it is until yesterday!!!  I am the only one in my camp who has NEVER turned in a pioneer history so I'm going to have to get busy on my genealogy.  The history has to be on a relative who was born between July 24, 1847 and May 10, 1869 in Utah and they're very strict about it.  I know Carol has sent in all the histories on the Mellor family so I will have to find someone on the Forrest side.  OH ME!!!

I think that's all the news.  I need to record that our drought is over and now Utah is having all kinds of floods - I know many people who would prefer the drought.

I LOVE EACH ONE OF YOU SO VERY, VERY MUCH.  PLEASE BE SO VERY, VERY CAREFUL IN EVERYTHING YOU DO.  Grandma B XXXXXOOOOO
