Weekly Report March 13, 2005

Dearest Family,

HAPPY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO STEVE ON THURSDAY, MARCH 17TH!!!   He will be "twenty something" and I hope you have a VERY HAPPY day Steve - I know Susanna will make you a birthday cake and Preston and Caroline will be a BIG part of your celebration.

HAPPY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO EMILY ON SATURDAY, MARCH 19TH!!!  She will be "17 years old" and she is a VERY lovely outstanding young woman.  I wish I could be with her and her family - THEY KNOW HOW TO CELEBRATE!!!  I hope I get a picture of her with her birthday cake.

HAPPY, HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY TO EACH ONE OF YOU ON THURSDAY - especially my "IRISH FAMILY"!!!  You don't get any more Irish than O'Donoghue - Ha!!!  Patrice always plans a special Irish dinner to commemorate that day and it isn't usually Irish Stew or corned beef and cabbage!!!

Some family news:  Michael & Staci are in Maui, Hawaii for a few days.  I had an e-mail from Claire saying they were fortunate to get some good plane tickets and also good rates on accomodations.  I hope they have a GREAT relaxing time - they will be in finals soon and completing the work for their graduation in the Spring.  They come by this traveling business naturally - Claire has always been SO good at finding good "travel deals".  That is SO completely foreign to me that I can't relate but I admire those who are smart enough to do it.  Bob is "re-constructing" a man's nose that was practically destroyed by cancer - this man is 92 years old.  Bob makes house calls to check up on him and his home is close to Ogden.

Ann & Ron have been in New York for a few days - I believe they were coming home last night.  Ron had business there and Annie went with him - I'm SO glad she can do that now because he goes to some "fun" places.  Ann's "girl friend/boy friend" dinner at their home in Provo last Sunday was fun - some of her neices and nephews couldn't make it but those who did had fun.

John has been busy with a special "business expo" (or something) and sent me an e-mail he had written at 4:30 in the morning.  I happened to read a talk that was given at this expo and the main theme of the convention was that too many young entrepeneurs (sp.?) are workaholics and don't have enough outside interests.  I was SO happy as I read that article that John has PLENTY of outside interests and loves his horses and Tar and his lovely home.  I am learning LOTS of things about horses that I have never known before - do you know the difference between "Geldings" and "Stallions"?????

I dropped in to see Jeannie one day this week and I just happened to be there when Mary Ann dropped in too.  It was so much fun to visit with both of them.  They had both just come home from work.  It was fun to hear some news about little Gracie - Jeannie says she is "scooting" on her back and is rolling over - I haven't seen her for a long time.  Jeannie told me about the fun plaything the Summerhays had just bought for their "gym" - it sounds like an inflatable play house and it takes up most of the gym but can be deflated to take up just a little space.  The things they have now to keep children happy are SO much improved than they have been before.

I LOVE the pictures Susanna has sent to me of little Caroline - she has such gorgeous eyes and is SO happy and healthy.  I can't help but make comparisons between my children at the same ages as the Reeves and Summerhays babies - my children were gorgeous but I'm not sure they were as healthy.  Annie wouldn't eat at their ages and was not always smiling like Caroline & Gracie are - she was CONSTANTLY on the go!!!

I talked to Chris Jordin this week and she says Little Rock is completely covered with beautiful tulip trees and every other blooming thing - I remember those days and I know the "Roys" are enjoying it.  They have wonderful azalea bushes surrounding their home.  I have some crocus that are blooming this year for the first time since I have moved here and I'm sure it is because we have had ALOT of moisture.  My "magnolia" tree is also budding out and will be blooming soon.

My friend, Barbara Sondrup, has been in Atlanta this week packing up her things to make the big move to Dallas.  She hasn't sold her home there yet but she has bought another one in Dallas and is anxious to get settled.  I talked to her one night and she was alone in her large home and then I turned on television and heard about the "gunman" who was loose there.  I sent her an e-mail saying I was worried about her - she wrote back that she was in a gated and guarded community and they had just captured the gunman.  There have been too many "shootings" haven't there?

I went to the "National Dancing Competition" at the Marriott Center in Provo yesterday and it was FABULOUS.  I went with my condo neighbors, Patt & Darrell Guthrie and Margaret and we had such a good time - the Guthries always get tickets and invite me and I went last year too.  Their grandson works at the restaurant "Good Food" and we met him and his sister for dinner - they're really cute and nice young people.  I have NEVER seen such good dancing and all kinds - jazz, South American like the tango, samba, etc., and the different high schools in Utah County also participated.  Timpview had an excellent dancing group and we were seated right in back of some of the students and parents who were cheering for them and they had big posters, pom poms, etc.  I asked two of the girls in front of me if they knew Jimmy Woolley and they practically shouted "WE LOVE JIMMY".  My favorite part of the competition was the "Ballroom dancing" and the couples wore lovely "gowns and tails" - it reminded me of the days of "Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire" and I'm betting my grandchildren don't even know who they were - Ha!!!  They kept narrowing down the contestants and we of course had our favorites.  None of them were from Utah - they were from all over the country; New Jersey, California, New York, etc., etc.  We couldn't leave until we knew who had won so we didn't leave until almost midnight.  I had been up since 3:30 a.m. and I was SO tired I could hardly even get into bed.  My church starts at 8:30 and I just barely made it in time and came home at noon and took a LONG nap!!!

I am going to Lava Hot Springs in the morning for a few days with my friend, Helen Jane.  She has a "time share" there and it will be fun - we will probably drive to Etna, Wyoming while we are there and visit with Margaret and other condo friends.  We're coming home on Wednesday so it will be a short visit.  Lava is known for their very large outdoor swimming pool but since it is too cold to go swimming Helen Jane says we can go to the "hot tubs".  I have seen it from the road many times but I have never been into where the apartments are so it will be a new experience.

I got my income tax preparation things back from my tax accountant and I sent them off immediately so I won't have to worry about that.  It is just amazing to me that I can have the best attorneys and tax accountants that I know of and I pay them plenty and yet I'm not able to get the trust things recorded in the County Recorder's Office.  Each year for the past 4 years I have been notified that the "LC" is not recorded properly and each year my attorney says he will do it.  The attorney we hired here in Davis County asked Annie if she would do it BUT we changed attorneys before she had the chance to do that.  I AM GOING TO MAKE A PERSONAL TRIP TO THE COUNTY RECORDER'S OFFICE IN PROVO AND STAY THERE UNTIL I AM SURE IT IS DONE PROPERLY!!!  I don't understand any of that "stuff" and I would learn if I possibly could but it's beyond me!!!

I think that's all the news.  I LOVE EACH ONE OF YOU SO VERY, VERY MUCH.  PLEASE BE SO VERY, VERY CAREFUL IN EVERYTHING YOU DO.  BE GOOD.  Grandma B XXXXXOOOO
