Dearest Family,
FAMILY BULLETIN - I just received an e-mail
with the date for Brett's farewell. It will be Sunday, May 22, 11 a.m.
in their chapel!!! BE SURE TO MARK YOUR CALENDARS!!! That date will
come before we know it - I still can't believe he will be going for two
years. Brazil will never be the same - HA!!! I'm SO proud of you
Brett!!!
There are SO many changes going on in our
familys' lives. I kinda' resent some of my grandchildren who want
to move out of state and "explore new horizons" and then I have to
remind myself of how I was at their ages. I couldn't move out of Utah
fast enough and I just knew I was as smart as anyone else and I knew
Lynn was much smarter - I thought the world was "our oyster" - Ha!!! It
didn't take long though for me to cry my heart out because Lynn didn't
like Utah as much as I did. I am TRULY grateful for all the experiences
we had in our married life and I wouldn't trade them for any thing and
whatever my grandchildren decide to do "I AM ALL FOR IT" - they have
much better sense than I did!!!
I was THRILLED to have Jessie and Jared come
to visit with me on Monday night and tell me about their plans to go to
law school. I am very proud of Jared - he has acceptances to seven law
schools all over the United States. They haven't decided where they
will go and even though they could stay in Utah I don't believe they
will decide to do that. WHAT A SPECIAL YOUNG COUPLE!!! They have ALL
it takes to be happy and successful and they're just interested in
EVERYTHING!!! It made me happy to learn that Jared was active in the
"recycling program" when he was a student at BYU. He told me he is less
interested in it now because there isn't a good recycling plan in Utah
but he still tries to recycle things personally if he can. That tells
me what a well rounded person he is and we have always known that about
Jessie - ALWAYS trying to make life a little better for someone else.
Just a sideline - I had an e-mail from Annie
yesterday and she said Jessie has had her hair cut and it is about one
inch all over her head. I'm SO anxious to see it!!! I love that style
and Jessie can wear it perfectly.
I think about all the fun at the Woolleys'
home today. Annie said it was going to be "boyfriend-girlfriend" day
and she was preparing dinner for all her neices and nephews who want to
come. I hope I get to hear all about it. Jessie wanted her mother to
prepare something she couldn't do and Ann said that gave her LOTS of
options - Ha!!!
John - THANK YOU for your letter and that
wonderful picture representing the engagement of Prince Charles and
Camilla. I hope you sent it to the family. It is a picture of Charles
riding a horse that looks so much like Camilla and I am still laughing
and I have forwarded it to all my friends.
I had a fun experience yesterday. Cheryl
has had some problems with her half of the 4.76 acres in Lehi - a
property owner has built a building too close to her property. John
went to look at it on his way home from work one night but it was dark
so he couldn't see very much. I decided to drive down there after the
temple so I could see what they were doing. I stopped in at John's
home - I had talked to him before and he said his horses were in his
barn so I went to see them. WHAT A BEAUTIFUL PLACE!!! I could hear
music playing and I thought maybe someone was in the barn but I guess
the music was for the horses - Ha!!!
John told me he has his "mechanical cow"
working and he is training his horses in his barn. He told me that Ron
had helped him design something for it. Everything was SO neat and
clean - I expect John to move his bedroom out there any day - Ha!!! I
threw some balls for Tar and it was just fun to be there. John - your
home was also very neat and clean - even your garage!!! I couldn't see
any problems in Lehi - I would have had to get out of my car and walk
around in back of the houses and I didn't want to do that. I truly do
not worry about Cheryl - she is VERY capable of taking care of things
herself.
Bob & Laura came over last Sunday night -
that Laura is so much fun to be with - she had stopped at her parents'
home after being in Logan to visit with Michael & Staci. She told me
about all the snow in Logan - it has been in the single digits for
several months and the snow just won't melt. Claire had "hammer toe foot
surgery" last week and she is trying to stay off her feet as much as
possible. Her Mother had emergency triple heart bypass surgery the same
day (I think). They are both doing well.
Soon after they left my little neighbor
friend brought me some chocolate cake and she stayed and visited for a
little while. When she left I noticed a plate of goodies on my hose
stand by the door. I thought maybe it was the Mother of my neighbor
friend and she would come get it later. I found it the next morning and
it was grilled zucchini - I heated it and ate it and loved it. I sent
an e-mail to Jeannie thanking her for it and she wrote back that she
hadn't brought it. I finally found out that it was the same chocolate
cake neighbor - they are SO thoughtful and great cooks but maybe I had
better be a little more careful about what I find on my doorsteps and
eat - Ha!!!
The Weinerts are doing fine. Jeannie & Rick
were in Phoenix with Barji & Boyd a week or so ago and then Jean & Barji
and the babies flew back to Utah and Rick went on to Minneapolis for a
business meeting. I believe Barji & Boyd are home for a little while
and I know that must be WONDERFUL for them and also for Preston &
Gracie!!! We are having just beautiful weather - warm and bright skies.
Mary Ann - thank you for your cute letter.
I had written to her asking her to find a friend of mine who had fallen
and broken some bones but she wasn't in Mary Ann's health center. I
finally found this woman and she was going down the steps in her home
and her hip bone broke and she fell and broke her leg. She was lying on
the cement floor in her basement for 8 hours before her granddaughter
found her.
Chris Jordin called me yesterday and we had
a good visit. She had been in the Memphis Temple with Marlena & Jim
Griffin and I had told her how much Roy enjoys working with their
daughter Christy so she relayed that on to them. They asked about Roy,
Patrice & their family. One of their sons is married and his wife is a
good friend to Chris. I believe this is the son who puts mayonnaise on
his steaks - Ha!!!
I wish you could all see the new building
addition to the Tanner Clinic. I drove past it last week and I couldn't
believe all they have done. The last time I tried to find a parking
place there I got my car stuck between a fire hydrant and some cars and
had to have one of Bob's staff members come move it for me. They were
doing alot of renovation at that time. Bob told me he will have a new
office in that new area - I don't know when. His office is always SO
busy that I'm sure it will be a big improvement for them.
One day last week I was EXTREMELY bored and
decided it was time to clean out my clothes closet. I took ALL my
clothes from my closet and piled them on my bed - I have about one inch
where I can sleep. I have MANY bags to take to D.I. and I'm determined
to never buy one more thing to wear - Ha!!!
I went to "The Beauty and The Beast" with
Margaret last night - it was put on by the Viewmont High School in
Bountiful where Margaret's grandchildren attend. It was absolutely
unbelieveably good for a High School. I had to keep reminding myself
that I wasn't at the Capitol Theatre in Salt Lake watching a
professional performance. Lara Steed who is one of Margaret's
granddaughters had a leading role and her Mother had made her costumes -
she was VERY good and her costumes were beautiful. I was with all of
Margaret's family - they support EVERYTHING and that is good!!! I think
our family tries to do that.
Think that's all the news. Would it be fun
to go to our property in West Canyon while the weather is pretty??? I
LOVE EACH ONE OF YOU SO VERY, VERY MUCH. PLEASE BE SO VERY, VERY
CAREFUL IN EVERYTHING YOU DO. BE GOOD!!! Grandma B XXXXXOOOOO
