Dearest Family,

CONGRATULATIONS TO LAURA AND RICKY ON THEIR COLLEGE GRADUATIONS THIS WEEKEND!!!  I am SO proud of them and I'm looking forward to going to Logan for their ceremonies.  I remember going for Jessie's graduation and it was WONDERFUL to watch the "processional" and I thought that was something new.  I talked to Chris Jordin yesterday and I was telling her about it and she said "Don't you remember when we had that processional for our graduation?"  She is about 4 years younger than I am and I surely don't remember it so it must have been started in the early 50's - I'll have to find out.  It is such an accomplishment for Laura and Ricky and I know they will be happy to have a little "break" from studying and anxious to "move on" and I will be VERY interested in their plans for the future.  I know Laura is going to Maine to supervise, teach and counsel young people in a "Summer Camp" and then maybe she will be ready for more schooling.  Ricky hasn't decided what he is going to do yet but he will do some thing fun and exciting I'm sure.

MANY THANKS TO JOHN!!!  I appreciate his help with my picture project SO VERY MUCH and also his encouragement - I'm not sure I would be able to continue with that if he didn't encourage me all the time.  IT IS A VERY TIME CONSUMING JOB and many times I ask myself if anyone else will ever think it is worthwhile.  John came yesterday when I wasn't home and "backed up" all the scanning I had done - I had finished about 10 albums since he had backed it up.  I can't describe how much it worries me when I think that with one electric storm all the work that had been done on it could be "wiped out" and now it is safe until I do some more.  My visiting teaching companion and I had a luncheon yesterday for the sisters we visit and I just stopped at her home on my way from the temple and I didn't come home.  I was ABSOLUTELY heartsick when I found out he had been here!!!

ANNIE - I AM SO PROUD OF YOU!!!!  I can't believe you would take the time to send the pictures from your San Diego vacation.  I kept looking for Jessie in the pictures - she has darkened her hair and she looks SO different but still beautiful!!!  I want to know more about Andrew - I know he must be a fine person or Jessie wouldn't be "hanging out with him".  I know you had a GREAT time on the beach and in the ocean and at the Mormon Battalion Museum, the City Hall, etc., etc.  I was happy to see Ron looking strong and healthy - he has been recuperating from pneumonia.  I couldn't help but think how much fun you all had because of your love for the outdoors and doing exotic things like sailboating, etc.  I didn't know there was a Mormon Battalion Museum - that is an interesting part of our Mormon Religion.  I'm anxious to hear more about your vacation when we're together again.  JESSIE - I LIKE YOUR HAIR!!!  You know me - I admire people who dare to do things with their hair - I have been every color but green - Ha!!!  I am betting that JImmy will be happy to finish his junior year of high school and start practicing for football.

Jeannie & Sarah came over last Sunday night and of course I love that.  It is fun to hear about all the things they do - Rick & Jean had been in Sun Valley the week before - that is their favorite vacation spot and I will NEVER forget the family vacation we had there soon after Lynn had passed away.  Sarah is loving college and I was happy to learn that she goes to bed early - I thought I was the only person in the world who likes to do that - Ha!!!  Maybe Sarah inherited that quality from me - AND we both like to get up early.

Bob came over last Sunday night too and I didn't expect him to come because he had just come home from his trip with the Davis High School band on Saturday night.  I had worried about Katie while they were gone but Bob said Laura came home to be with her and then Michael came on Sunday.  Bob was SO impressed with the members of the Davis High Drum Line - he couldn't say enough nice things about how respectful they all were and even though they were disappointed to not get in the final competitions they had a good time on the beach and at Sea World and other places.  Claire said their bus broke down in Spanish Fork and they had a delay in getting home - she's such a good sport - I'm glad Bob had flown home a day early.

My D.U.P. meeting was last Wednesday and they installed new officers for next year.  I'm VERY relieved that I won't be captain - I have served for three years and that's long enough.  I have the meeting in May to take care of and then the new officers take over the first of June.  The new captain has multiple sclerosis and has a difficult time getting around but I promised her I would help her.

Do you all remember my friend from Thailand - Lamchuan Hokasan????  She has been in California for several weeks and then she went to Las Vegas to visit a friend.  They called me on Friday and said they wanted to come see me.  They are flying in Tuesday morning at 9 o'clock and will stay until Friday - it worries me that they spend that much money to come for such a short time and I hope I can show them a good time.  I don't know how many are coming but they are easy company to have and maybe they will want to cook some Thai food!!!  I have found from their previous visits that all I have to have on hand is rice!!!  They don't like and won't eat American food - I tried sandwiches the last time they were here and they opened them up and ate the mixture inside and threw away the bread.  The also love omelets so I'll have plenty of eggs and tomatoes and fruit juices.   It has been two years since they have been here - maybe three - and I have never met the friend who is coming.

Your cousin, Angela Perkes, was married this last week in the Bountiful Temple.  She is the daughter of Carolyn & Gerald Perkes who live in Logan and she is the granddaughter of Ramona Crawford who is Lynn's sister and I know you all remember her.  She didn't want a reception so they sent announcements but not invitations to the wedding or anything.  My VERY sweet former Orem neighbor and friend, Sara Frisby, is getting married this coming Friday.  I would love to go to her reception but I'm not sure how long my Thai guests will be here so I'm not planning anything.

I have kept an eye on the weather news because of the tornadoes throughout Illinois, Indiana, Oklahoma and warnings in Arkansas.  I'm glad Arkansas has escaped them but now they are having flooding.  Chris said it has rained constantly - I don't really worry about Roy & Patrices' home being flooded and I know they are smart enough to stay away from the rivers that are flooding.  I remember those days and it is scary.  Chris also said the Spring flowers and trees have been more beautiful this year than any year she can remember.  I'm glad we are having warmer weather so my Thai friends won't freeze to death - last week was a very dreary and cold week.  The Little Rock Stake had a picnic and Dick & Ann Cobb went for it and they stayed with Tom and Barbara Brown - do you all remember them?

That's all the news - Susanna, you're about in your last month aren't you????  I hope had a good time with your friend (Affleck) - is her brother a good quarterback????  I LOVE EACH ONE OF YOU SO VERY, VERY MUCH - PLEASE BE SO VERY, VERY CAREFUL IN EVERYTHING YOU DO  Grandma B XXXXXOOOOO
