Dearest Family,

WOW - I just accessed the picture from Ann with Jimmy and the "HUMMER"!!!  The expression on Jimmy's face "says it all".  Sarah was just over with Jeannie for a little visit and she said "That's just AWESOME".  I'm thrilled that John would share his VERY special car with his family.  Jean & Rick have been in Sun Valley over the weekend and Jeannie said there were many Hummers there - of course, there are MANY celebrities who live there - Maria Shriver, Bruce Willis, John Kerry, etc, etc.  It's okay for our family to be in that class - Ha!!!  I'm anxious to receive a picture of Jimmy with his date and I hope they had a WONDERFUL time.

Michael just called and said the Davis Drum Line did well in the world competition in San Diego - I believe Claire & Brett will be home later tonight.  There was an article about the drum line in the paper and it explained a little about their program. I'm going to quote a little from that article:  "Picture a white vinyl sheet, as large as a basketball court, being rolled out to represent a New York City street.  As a Broadway song plays, cutouts of black skyscrapers create a skyline that surrounds members of the Paragon Winter Drumline of Davis High School.  The forty members will perform in their makeshift metropolis in costumes depicting city life with the theme, "Silhouettes of the City:  A tribute to New York - all while perfroming their respective bass, tenor or snare drum and cymbals.   A percussion ensemble, featuring xylophones, marimbas, tympani, bells, chimes and two snythesizers will play along from the sidelines.  In San Diego the drumline will perform a collection of songs from West Side Story, 42nd Street and New York, New York.  Skab, an original song by the band director, Mulitalo, features a graffiti covered wall and 15 members pounding in rhythm on the sides of upside down black rubbermaid and aluminum trash cans."  I was SO glad to read this article because Bob took me to their "dress rehearsal" and it didn't make sense to me but after reading this it did.  Michael said that Bob and Claire had really enjoyed being with the band members and they had a good time.  The article also said the trip would cost each student about $600 so they have had to sacrifice for their experience and that makes it more worthwhile.  I haven't talked to Katie all week but Bob said she would probably be staying with her friend, Abby and would call me if I could help her.

John just called and we had a good visit.  He will go to New York this week and he said it will be a pleasant trip because the weather is better.  He said he is going to come help me with my picture project sometime this week - I will be happy when he has time to "back up" all the albums I have scanned and made commentaries on.  I truly believe I would run away if they somehow get lost - it is a pleasant job but it has taken MANY hours and I have had to take some of my albums apart to do the scanning.  John said he would get another "hard drive" to make sure they are safe besides burning them onto discs.  I just finished album #35 which was the album with Lynn's funeral pictures in it.  I am amazed at how well Patrice did in taking those pictures - she seemed to get pictures of ALL the people who came to the mortuary, the burial site as well as family pictures at our Orem home after the funeral.  She really didn't know the people but she surely did a WONDERFUL job and I am THRILLED with them!!!  I'm also thrilled that John started this tremendous project - it's like a newsreel of the Mellor family's life.  I also appreciate the time Ricky spent last Summer.
It isn't nearly finished but I believe it will be a little easier from now on and I will relax once I know they are saved.

John has had alot of trouble with one of the molars on his bottom teeth for too many years.  Chris Crawford has filled the tooth and also done a root canal but it just didn't heal the way it was supposed to.  John went to an oral surgeon last week and had it pulled and now he will have to wait several months and have an implant - THAT IS SO EXPENSIVE!!!  It will surely be worth it for John to not have to suffer any longer with a bad tooth - he said it had alot of infection in it and that is dangerous.  The oral surgeon is a friend of Reid Folsom who was John's good Montana friend and he is giving him personal attention.

John had talked to Roy this week and he is taking care of his home and the children while Patrice is in New York on a business trip.  He said they are doing fine and that Emily is studying for SAT preliminary tests (or something like that).  It will be fun for her to come to Utah next month - it has been much too long since we have seen her.

Jessie - thank you SO VERY MUCH for your sweet letter. Susanna - thank you SO VERY MUCH for the adorable Easter card with Jackson's picture with the "Bunny Ears" - I have shown it to everyone who has come and I gave it to Jeannie tonight so she could show it to Barji.  I LOVE TO HEAR FROM MY GRANDCHILDREN AND HEAR ABOUT YOUR LIVES!!!

I hope each one of you will take good care of your health - YOU HAVE GOOD GENES!!!  One of my cousins in Garland died last week and she was 90 years old.  The article about her said she loved to feed everyone who came to her home and she was a school lunch cook for 37 years - I'm sure she didn't worry about "carbs, etc." - Ha!!!  Lynn really had good genes and he should have lived to be at least 90 if he had taken better care of himself.

It was my Stake Conference today and it was VERY, VERY good.  It was held in the former "Playhouse" in Bountifut and that is a beautiful building which the church bought.  I am SO happy with my ward and stake - WONDERFUL people.

Margaret is going to Star Valley tomorrow with "our group" of friends - I have too many things going on to go with them.  It is my D.U.P. meeting on Wednesday and they will install new officers and I couldn't miss it.

I appreciate SO VERY MUCH the time Bob, Ann & John spent with our attorney, Rodney Wilkinson, in Provo.  I haven't heard from him but I'm sure I will soon.  It's VERY important to have my estate in good hands and I thought the summary that John sent to each one of us explained what was done - don't count on my leaving this earth any time soon - I'm in EXCELLENT health and I intend to stay that way - Ha!!!!

I had a phone call from one of my Thai friends, Lamchuan Hokasan.  She is visiting friends and relatives in California and said she and her brother may come to Utah to see me.  She doesn't dare travel alone and I don't blame her - that is very scary!!!  She is the one who has been here three times before and she is easy to have and loves to cook Thai food.

That's all the news.  I LOVE EACH ONE OF YOU SO VERY, VERY MUCH.  PLEASE BE SO VERY, VERY CAREFUL IN EVERYTHING YOU DO - GRANDMA B XXXXXOOOOO
