Dearest Family,

HAPPY, HAPPY 16TH BIRTHDAY TO KATIE ON WEDNESDAY!!!   WOW - another teenage driver in our family!!!  I know Katie has had good training and I also know she is a serious"gal" and will be VERY careful. I always think of how much help it is to the family when someone else besides the parents can "run errands, etc., etc." even though it is a WORRY.  I HOPE Y0U HAVE A GREAT BIRTHDAY KATIE - Bob told me last night that she has been in St. George with friends this weekend so I'm betting she has already been celebrating.

I know Bob doesn't want me to "brag" about him but I just have to thank him SO much for helping me with a plumbing problem.  My faucets in my upstairs bathroom started "dripping" about a month ago and they kept getting worse and even started leaking under- neath the sink.  I had a friend in the condos come look at them because she said she had had the same problem - she finally had to call a plumber and it cost her $400 before they got it fixed.  When Bob came to see me last Sunday I told him I was going to call a plumber in the morning and he said "Mom, I believe I can fix them".  I really didn't think he would be able to because of what my friend had told me.  He took them apart and took some parts out and asked me to go to a plumbing supply company and see if they had them so I did.  He came over on Monday night after working late and FIXED THEM!!!  It was SO special - he and Brett came over with their "walkie talkies" so Brett could go downstairs and turn the water in the house off and on without Bob having to run down there.  I thought they were perfect and I was so happy BUT he came over again last night and fixed them even"perfecter".  He seemed to think they needed to be better so he spent another couple hours working on them.  I haven't found anything he can't fix yet and I hope all the men in my family can do the same because labor costs are TERRIBLE!!!  It cost me $35.00 and my friend had to pay $400.  I'm just glad I don't have to pay Bob for what he is worth - Ha!!!

I felt bad last night when Bob told me that Claire and Brett had been in California for several days and I could have helped them if I hadn't forgotten - Claire told me they were going and I completely forgot.  Claire went as a "Band Mother" chaperone where Davis High Band competed in some National Competition and I believe they will be home tonight.  Bob said it was a LONG bus trip. Bob has been home alone until last night when Laura came home and they went out for dinner.  I believe Bob plans to go to California with the band in a couple weeks when they go back.

Do you all remember David Bass from Little Rock.  He called me last Tuesday morning and I wasn't home - I had just gone over to Margarets for a few minutes.  He was in Salt Lake and wanted to come see me or meet them someplace BUT he didn't tell me where he was staying - I WAS SO SAD!!!  He said he would call me back so I stayed close to the phone all week waiting for his phone call but I didn't ever hear from him.  I called his home in Louisiana and left a message but I guess he didn't get it (I know there is a way to get those messages when you are away because Margaret does it all the time).  We had beautiful weather all last week and I'm glad because he probably got to see Utah at a good time but I would have loved to see him - Anna must have been with him since she didn't answer the phone in Louisiana.

John came by one night this week and we had a good visit.  He has been in charge of a big conference held at Snowbird for his company and he said IT WAS ALOT OF WORK - he was happy with the way it turned out.  He was VERY tired and of course, I always think young people who get "too' tired are probably not eating right - Ha!!!

Ron, Annie and Russell were in Chandler, Arizona for a few days last week with Susanna, Steve & Jackson.  I believe they did some painting and probably mostly playing with little Jackson.  Annie came home a day earlier than Ron & Russ because she wanted to be home for Jimmy's "MORP" dance at Timpview - I want to hear about that "80's" dance.

Rick has been in Chicago this past week for business meetings.  Barji and Boyd have been making some decisions about their new home being built in "Farmington Ranches" and I believe Boyd is leaving tonight to go to Georgia and Barji will join him in a week or so.  Jeannie has been busy with church firesides and young women activities.  Their neighbor friend, Chad Oreson, who has been confined to a wheelchair since birth and is now about 20 years old has been undergoing special brain surgery involving a medtronic electronic device and everyone in their neighborhood is concerned about his welfare - I HOPE SO MUCH IT HELPS!!!

I haven't heard from the Roy Mellor family but John said he had talked to Emily and she reported that they had had  WONDERFUL time in Costa Rica.  It takes a long time to "catch up" after a vacation.

I am looking forward to a "Family Meeting" with our new attorney Wally Bournemeir tomorrow night - Monday the 29th.  He is trying hard to accommodate us by meeting with us in the evenings and I think that is very nice.  We plan to go to "The Mandarin" restaurant in Bountiful before the meeting - we will meet there at 5:30 and meet with Wally at 7:00.  I don't expect the meeting to present any changes but it will be good to have it reviewed - the last time was when Bob, Roy & John and I went to Wilkerson's office in Provo just before I left to go to Thailand and that has been about 7 years.  I remember that so well because when I got to Thailand one of the couples in our teacher's group had to come back to America for some legal things they had neglected to do before they left and I felt VERY good thinking all my "stuff" was in good hands - John, in particular had taken care of SO many things for me and I have appreciated him SO VERY MUCH!!!  I am constantly coming across things in my files with his hand writing on them and I know IT WAS A PAIN!!!  THANK YOU JOHN.

Jeannie, Rick, Barji and Preston just came over - PRESTON IS DARLING!!!

That's all the news.  I LOVE EACH ONE OF YOU SO VERY, VERY MUCH.  PLEASE BE SO VERY, VERY CAREFUL IN EVERYTHING YOU DO.  GRANDMA B XXXXXOOOOO
