Weekly Report January 25, 2004

Dearest Family,

HAPPY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO CLAIRE TOMORROW - JANUARY 26TH!!!  This is a MILESTONE for Claire and when she looks SO young and acts SO young I'm sure she doesn't mind being the BIG 50!!!  Fifty seems SO young to me and I find it difficult to believe all the attention it gets - Ha!!!  I'm at the point where I think 100 seems attainable - UGH!!!  I hope you have a VERY, VERY SPECIAL DAY CLAIRE!!!

Our family (mostly John) has hired a new attorney to handle the family trust.  Our former attorney, Rodney Wilkinson, from Provo did the original trust but it has been about 8 years since he did it and it was time for it to be reviewed to see if any changes were necessary.  The Weinerts have just had their trust done and a man who lives in their ward here in Farmington did it and they said that is all he does and he has done it for many years.  I worked with him in the Bountiful Temple when I first started working there.  His name is Wally Bournemeir and his office is just a few blocks East from where my condo is.

John didn't want to make a definite commitment to hire him until we had a family visit but I believe we are all in agreement that he will do a good job.  John, Bob, Jean and I spent an hour with him on Wednesday night - John had given him all the documents he needed and he explained things to us - everything went right over my head but I believe Bob & John understood what he was talking about (Jean told me that it was kinda' over her head too).  John was going to be in contact with him concerning certain items that he questioned and he was also going to contact Wilkinson and then we'll go from there.  He is SO close that it will be easy for me to work with him as well as Bob & Jean and it's close to the airport so John can arrange the meetings at the same time as his travel plans.  We'll keep Ann and Roy informed.  I really don't think many changes need to be made.  John came home with me after our meeting and we went over many documents I have in my files and things seem to be in pretty good order.  I REALLY do appreciate all the work John has done in handling my trust and the Lehi property for MANY, MANY YEARS and I hope he will continue to do that because he understands EVERYTHING!!!

Annie - thank you for your newsy letter.  I love to keep up with my family and learn about the things you are doing.  Susanna, Steve & Jackson were invited to the home of one of their friends in Newport Beach, California for last weekend and Jessie was planning to meet them there to spend some time together.  Ann & Ron will leave tomorrow, Monday, to go to Phoenix where they will spend a couple days with the Reeves - I think they are homesick for Jackson and I don't blame them!!!  I believe Boyd, Barji & Preston will be in Phoenix sometime soon too and they will be able to spend time with the Reeves.  I think it is SO wonderful for things to work out for them to get together quite often so Jackson & Preston can become good friends.

Jeannie & Sarah dropped by for a little visit on Friday afternoon and I was SO happy to have them come.  I was making dinner for a family in my ward whose Mother is ill and I was preparing enchiladas.  I didn't know they made diced "jalapeno peppers" in the same size can as diced "chillies" and I picked them up by mistake.  This family has small children and I knew they wouldn't eat anything that was as hot as jalapenos so I was picking out all those little green peppers in the mixture for the enchiladas - Jean & Sarah helped me!!!  My kitchen was "utter chaos" but I finally got it cleaned up.  They told me that Mary Ann & David had bought a new car and they were excited - that's GREAT!!!  Ricky was going to come home for the weekend and they were happy about that.

My doorbell rang one afternoon last week and when I went to the door I was SO surprised to see Brett there with his snow shovel.  He was ready to shovel the snow from my deck - it was solid ice and a lot of work but he kept at it until he got most of it off.  I REALLY appreciated his thoughtfulness.  We visited for a little while and he told me he was planning to go to college at Weber State during the Summer before starting at BYU in the Fall.  He will be able to get alot of college in before he leaves for his Mission that way and that's good.  I believe Laura is planning to go back East for the Summer as a camp counselor in a very elite Summer school - WHAT A GREAT EXPERIENCE!!!

Patrice - Thank you SO much for your message telling me about Emily attending a political rally for Wesley Clark in Little Rock.  I am SO proud of her for being involved in things like that and especially since Clark is from Little Rock and attended Hall High School like her Dad did.  I couldn't access the picture with her in it but I loved reading the articles about Clark and the rally.  I am probably too interested in the political things going on right now but I LOVE to watch the news on television.  I miss having Roy, Timothy & Jesse with me - that was such a SPECIAL time and I LOVED it!!!  There has been news about Powder Mountain in the papers and normally I wouldn't have been interested but since their visit it is interesting to me - a man skied into a tree there last week and was killed.  We had a beautiful snow storm this morning and it was all "POWDER" - perfect for skiing and snowboarding and it cleared out all the smog in the air so we can breathe again but it is still mighty cold - in the teens.

I love watching the news about the space travels to Mars too.  I have to wonder if sometime maybe fifty years from now when one of my great, great grandchildren is reading this letter he or she may be planning a vacation to Mars - Ha!!!

I had my D.U.P. meeting here on Wednesday afternoon and I worried that the roads would be snow covered and one of the ladies would fall but everything went just fine.  I served lunch to 16 sweet ladies and we had a good time - many of them are in their late 80's and quite frail.

ABOUT THE FAMILY GROUP SHEETS FOR SHIRLEY!!!  I will fill out all the information I can about your families but there will not be any information about the O'Donoghue family, the Parker family or the Summerhays families unless you send me your group sheets.  Right now I am searching everything I have to find out when Lynn was baptized - I can't believe I don't have it.  Granny was such a meticulous genealogist that I was surprised she doesn't have it in her records.  I will write the general news about our family this next week and I'll send it to all of you for your consent and changes you want to make.

That's all the news - I think!!!!  I LOVE EACH ONE OF YOU SO VERY, VERY MUCH - PLEASE BE SO VERY, VERY CAREFUL IN EVERTHING YOU DO.  Grandma B XXXXXOOOOO
