Dearest  Family,

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MARY ANN ON FRIDAY - 21 YEARS OLD!!!  I hope you have a WONDERFUL birthday and I'm sure your trip this past week has been your birthday present.  I can never remember where David's sister has been attending school but I believe you and David's siblings went to see her play in a sports event - is that right???  Anyway, it sounded like a great thing to do and I know you had a good time.

I have had such a good time today - my Utah family has been with me to watch General Conference and that always gives me such a boost.  There were many family members who are out of town - Boyd, Barji & Preston have bought a motor home and are in California,  Susanna, Steve & Jackson are in Arizona, Jessie is in San Diego, Lee Anna had other plans with her college friends, Russell was translating Malagasy for the conference and couldn't leave, and Ann & David are somewhere in the Midwest (I think).  I appreciate SO VERY MUCH those who made the efforts to come.  We missed those of you who couldn't come - Roy, Patrice, Emily, Timothy and Jesse.

John did double duty and "backed up" all the photo albums that had been scanned and that is a BIG relief to me!!!  Bob & Laura had tickets to get into the conference center for the morning session so they couldn't get here until a little after noon and then Ron & Ann had tickets for the afternoon session so I don't really know what the food tasted like to them - I would heat it and then reheat it!!!  I know Jeannie's salad, Claire's fruit and Annie's dessert were good - THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!!!

I LOVED hearing about the families as well as visiting with my grandchildren whom I have not seen for a long time.  I am SO very proud of my family and I'm interested in everything you all do.  Annie had been in Arizona a week ago visiting with Susanna, Steve and Jackson and then Jessie flew over to be with them.  The Reeves love Arizona and I laughed when Ann said they were looking forward to when it cools down enough to go on a little picnic - I remember how strange it was to go on a picnic with cactus plants and dirt instead of fishing streams and pine trees.  Jessie loves San Diego too and it was fun to watch the BYU/San Diego State football game last night and know that she was probably in the stadium watching it too - I was SO happy that BYU won!!!  I was VERY surprised to see the Weinert's watch Boyd's progress in his golf game today on the internet - I didn't know they could do that.  I hope he continued to play well.  I can't believe that Laura is in her last year in college - she said she would like to go to San Francisco and work when she graduates - maybe I discouraged her because I told her I think it is cold and she is anxious to get away from the cold weather she has had in Logan.  She said she had spent some time in San Francisco and likes it - I haven't even been there for probably 40 years so what do I know???  I was sad to talk to John and learn that one of Laura's horses died last night from a colic condition and the veterinarian couldn't help him.  John loves animals and always has.

I went to my Thai Missionary Reunion on Friday night and I always enjoy being with former missionary companions.  The Senior missionaries met at a home in Orem for a potluck dinner and to visit and then Janet, Virginia, Phyllis and I went to Springville where we met with President & Sister Goodman and the young missionaries.  We were all invited to an American Thanksgiving Dinner in Chaing Mai the first year I was in Thailand and the couple who invited us has moved back to Utah and they were in Springville - it was such a happy memory to visit with them.  One of the Sisters with whom I served has had a book published - the title is "Wrinkled Missionaries" and it's a little paperback.  I bought a copy but I haven't read it yet - she said she would have to sell 50,000 copies in order to make any money - it sells for about $7 and she gets 70cents of that - weird!!!

Chris and Wayne will be here tomorrow and I'm looking forward to their visit.  They have been in Washington with Wayne's sister and they have a new motor home.  I'm hoping our weather will stay good - we have had absolutely gorgeous Fall weather and we even had a good rainstorm on Friday.

That's all the news for now.  I LOVE EACH ONE OF YOU SO VERY, VERY MUCH.  PLEASE BE SO VERY, VERY CAREFUL IN EVERYTHING YOU DO.  Grandma B XXXXXOOOOO
