Dearest Family,
I just came home from a WONDERFUL ride to
Brigham City. I had a message from Bob on my answering machine when I
came home from church and he invited me to go for a ride this afternoon
since they had had their Stake Conference and they were all finished
with their meetings. I hurried to call them before they left and they
waited for me. It has been a beautiful cool Fall day and I gave all of
them a "Genealogy" lesson about Brigham City and my early childhood -
Brett and Katie were very polite and I'm sure it must have been very
boring for them. I told them about Bushnell General Hospital where they
took care of amputees from World War 11 and then the Intermountain
Indian School that replaced the hospital - many memories. Now some of
the buildings are still there but I'm sure they will be torn down
sometime and replaced with something else. Then we went to the cemetery
and found Lorenzo Snow's gravesite and visited the gravesites of Grandma
& Grandpa Forrest, Lela & Bob Forrest and Christopher Weinert. I was
surprised when Bob told me he had never been there. Then we drove by
the home where I spent the first 16 years of my life and then the home
where we moved after Lela died on 6th East. Bob could remember alot
about that home because he spent many wonderful times there - dissecting
carp in the irrigation ditch in front of my folks' home and other
experiences. Both of those homes are well kept and that makes me
happy. We also drove by Helen Jane's home in Willard, Ellen Mae and
Margarets' homes in Brigham City and it has been a fun, fun day.
I was surprsied last Tuesday morning - I had
decided that I could spend the morning working on the picture project
before getting dressed because my eyes get tired and I like to do that
"in spirts". WELL - about 10 a.m. I went to get Margaret's newspapers
from her driveway and turned around and Annie was driving in my
driveway. I am usually "up and dressed" by 9 a.m. at least and I will
never be able to convince Ann of that. She had sent me a message on the
computer but I was mixed up and thought it would be the next day that
she had to go to Bountiful High School to meet with a student teacher
there. ANYWAY - we had such a good visit and it was WONDERFUL to have
her just drop in. THEN - on Thursday morning she called and invited me
to ride with her and Russell to Logan to watch the football game with
Logan High that Jimmy was playing in. That was such a FUN day - I spent
four years in Logan at Utah State but I didn't know where Logan High was
- Ha!!! Jimmy played the entire game - some on offense and some on
defense and he is GOOD!!! Timpview lost by one point (I think) but it
was a GREAT game. After the game we went for something to eat on the
way home and Russell stopped by to see some of his friends from Provo
who are attending Utah State.
I had a phone call from Nancy Hooper last
week asking me if she could come and do a video tape recording of me. I
was kinda' shocked because I know she has been to do the same with
Ramona and others and of course, I don't think I'm that old - Ha!!! She
and her daughter Rebecca and her sister Paula came about noon on
Wednesday and it was good to have them visit me - Nancy has never been
to see me and Paula used to come quite often when we lived in Orem but
she has never been to Farmington. They asked me questions about my life
with Lynn and after the recording was over I realized I hadn't said
anything about their Father, Keith. I didn't ever know him and since
they didn't ask me any questions about him, it just didn't occur to me
to mention him and I feel bad about that. I had fixed lunch for them
and we enjoyed being together.
Patrice - thank you for your nice letter. I
love to hear about the children's activities in school. I have enjoyed
my picture project so very much because I have accessed pictures of all
my family at different times in their lives and I get homesick for my
grandchildren that I don't see very often. I hope Emily will always keep
her smile that I see in just about all the pictures I have of her.
I never will get this weekly report
written - I keep forgetting things. The Bob Mellors went to the
Jordanelle Reservoir to go water skiing and surf boarding or
whatever yesterday and Claire sent me some pictures of them and said
the water was 50 degreees. THAT'S COLD!!! Bob said they were in
"wet suits" but it was even too cold with them on. They said they
passed the Weinerts going to go skiing too - I haven't heard if they
really did or not. It is sad to see the water level so low at
Willard Bay that it is closed for boating. We have had alot of GOOD
rain this past week but it will have to rain and snow for the rest
of the Winter to get the lakes filled up. I believe that is all the
news - LOVE, Grandma B XXXXXOOOOO
