Weekly Report July 20, 2003

Dearest Family,

HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO RON ON WEDNESDAY AND TO JIMMY ON FRIDAY - as if the Woolleys haven't had enough excitement in their lives this past month, now they get to celebrate family birthdays!!!  Ron is "thirty something" and Jimmy will be 17 - I hope you have very fun, exciting birthdays.  I'm thinking you feel like your trip to Lake Powell has been your birthday gifts.

I'm new at being a Great Grandmother and as a result I have neglected the first birthdays of Preston and Jackson - I believe Jackson's birthday was July 19th and Preston's is July 22nd.  I'll have to check to make sure when their birthdays are and get them on my calendar.  Susanna, thank you SO much for those adorable pictures of Jackson - I have them on my "picture cabinet"
and he is a beautiful little boy.  I can just imagine how homesick Steve is to see him - I don't know for sure if Steve was able to go to Lake Powell for the weekend.  I was SO happy to hear that Boyd was going to be able to go and be with his family - I know it is mighty difficult for the men to get their work schedules worked out for vacations.

All of you are in Lake Powell - it's kinda' dumb to write this letter except that if I don't write it today it will foul me up all week.  I am expecting "The Roys" to come in at any time - in fact, I kinda' thought they would show up yesterday, Saturday.  The last letter I had from Patrice said they would see me sometime this weekend.  The fact they haven't come means they are having too much fun at Lake Powell to leave and that's good!!!  I know my condo is going to seem very boring after Lake Powell.

I have thought about my family every single minute of every single day all week - temperatures have broken all kinds of records and I know I have never seen it this hot for this long in Utah.  It has been at least 100 degrees every day but the humidity is low and that helps.  The advice given on television has been to drink LOTS of water and I have wondered how in the world can the houseboat manage that much water for almost 30 people for a week.  I know they have made many trips to the boat dock to get more water.  I also know everyone has spent most of their time in the lake and I hope they have found some cool water to swim and water ski in.  I think about little Jackson and little Preston who probably can't spend as much time in the water as the older children and I hope they're okay.  I will be SO happy to have them come home so I can hear all about it.

I have also thought about Laura (John's Laura), and Bren - WHAT AN EXPERIENCE TO BE WITH THAT MANY PEOPLE WHOM YOU DON'T KNOW VERY WELL FOR A WEEK.  I'm proud of all of you for surviving and I hope it has been a fabulous experience that you will want to repeat again and again!!!

I have had a fun week too.  Margaret and I laughed about how boring our lives can be - our excitement one day was to go to the laundromat and the health food store - Ha!!!  It's kinda fun to not be in a big hurry all the time - I'M KNOW THAT'S A SURE SIGN OF OLD AGE!!!

My cute friend in Thailand, my Village Lek, had a little baby girl this week.  She wrote the cutest letter and said she was "dead" from the c-section.

That's all the news.  I LOVE EACH ONE OF YOU SO VERY, VERY MUCH.  PLEASE BE SO VERY, VERY CAREFUL IN EVERYTHING YOU DO.  Grandma B XXXXXOOOOO
