Dearest Family,

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY TO ALL THE WONDERFUL MOTHERS IN MY FAMILY - I AM "IN AWE" OF  YOU AND I'M VERY PROUD.  I HOPE YOU HAVE HAD A VERY HAPPY DAY WITH BREAKFAST IN BED, ETC. ETC.  I appreciate SO VERY MUCH your remembering me on this special day - I LOVE being your Mother. I just came home from having a delicious Mother's Day dinner with the Weinert family and I loved it.  Rick cooked steaks and we had those famous "Funeral Potatoes", green salad and a heavenly fudge caramel dessert - low cal., I'm sure - Ha!!!
It was so fun to be with little Preston - he is growing so fast and he makes the cutest funny faces and is so pleasant to be around.  Mary Ann and David told us about their little trip to Wendover and how they broke even on their extravagant gambling - Ha!!!  They didn't spend the night - they just drove there for a buffet dinner and then came home.  Mary Ann has been called to teach the Sunbeams in Primary in their ward and she is excited.  Sarah played her violin for me - it has been a long time since I heard her do that - she played for a special teacher's meeting in Fruit Heights last week.  Ricky called while I was there - he is getting ready to go to Portland to work.

I had a WONDERFUL visit with Annie on Wednesday - she is usually on such a tight schedule and doesn't have time to stay for very long but she stayed for about an hour and I LOVED it.  They are concerned about Grandpa Russ because he is having some problems with his eyes - they may drive to Jerome and bring him to Utah to see the doctors here.  Annie had Mimi last week and she had brought her to Layton to be with Sue again - I believe they will take turns caring for her.  Ann told me that Steve has been offered the job he had applied for in Phoenix so they may be moving in a little while - I don't want them that far away but we LOVED Phoenix when we lived there.  The company that Steve would be working for sent two men to Utah to talk to him so they really want him.  I know little Jackson is growing fast just like Preston is and I haven't seen enough of him.  Ron was making a change in his Bishopric today - they are busy, busy, busy!!!

I have LOVED hearing from Bob and Claire while they are in Italy - they are having a GREAT time and they said that Michael is a wonderful tour guide - he is able to communicate because of his Italian vocabulary.  I'm sure they have been able to visit many of the places he served while on his mission.  It has been fun for me to stay in their home several nights and Brett has been a very serious student studying for his AP courses - he said the math tests were easy and I didn't ask him about the others.  He has been with the Woolleys this weekend and I know he and Brett have had a good time.

John - I saw Margaret at Smiths yesterday after I came home from the temple and she told me you were at my home so I hurried and bought a bar-b-cued chicken and then you were gone when I got here - you must have been in a hurry!!!  It has been fun to talk to you this week and I really appreciate your "fielding" the calls about the Lehi property.  A property owner next to our farm wants something done so he can have access to his property from ours - evidently his property is landlocked.  It is WONDERFUL to give these people John's phone number and have him take care of it and he does a good job.  Tar tangled with a skunk last week and John had to give him a bath in tomato juice - he sent me some pictures and Tar was enjoying the bath.  He is a sweet dog and probably liked the taste.

Patrice - thank you for your letter.  I got tired just reading it - Ha!!  Timothy has been in Chicago this weekend observing the math counts activity - Patrice drove the debate team from Central High to Dallas for a competition and Emily had a school orchestra concert before they left and Jesse was going to his first baseball practice with Roy.   I'm SO glad they are all in such good activities.  Patrice wrote about the special Mother's Day program that Jesse's class put on for their Mothers and she said it was hard to not cry as Jesse read the essay he had written about her and presented her with a rose.  This is the same program that Roy and I had seen them practice for and I am VERY impressed with his teacher.  I REALLY like his school.

I had such a good visit with Cissy and Charles Beyers on Wednesday - we had lunch at the Lion House Pantry in Salt Lake.  I don't think Cissy looks very good - she is VERY thin and she has never been thin.  Charles is the same as always.  They had come to Utah for the graduation of one of their granddaughters from Utah State University.  Steve is her Father and he is divorced from her Mother and it sounded like a very uncomfortable situation.  Steve is going to school at the University of Utah to earn a degree in counseling - his wife is a counselor for the church and they want to work together in that field.  Shawna and her husband live in Mesa, Arizona and he is Bishop of their ward - she is still teaching school but Cissy says she is not well - sad!!!

I drove to Brigham City early this morning to put flowers on my Mother's grave - it was a beautiful day and I enjoyed it.  MY parent's home on 6th East was for sale for several months but it is sold now - I was tempted to buy it so I guess it's a good thing it sold.  My Father always kept it in such good condition and I hated to see it run down.  I'm SO glad that John has sold his home in Orem - there was ALOT of work involved in that house and yard and he has been burdened with that for much too long.  I REALLY love where I live and I'm SO thankful to be here.

I think that's all the news.  I LOVE EACH ONE OF YOU SO VERY, VERY MUCH.  PLEASE BE SO VERY, VERY CAREFUL IN EVERYTHING YOU DO.  GRANDMA BXXXXXXXOOOOO
