Dearest Family,
I just came home from having dinner with the
Weinert Family - ALL of them except for Ricky and he had been invited to a
dinner in Logan so he didn't come home. It was SO fun to be with Barji,
Boyd and little Preston, Mary Ann and David, Sarah and Rick and Jean. The
dinner was just wonderful and Sarah had made deviled eggs for it - she is a
REAL homemaker!!! Jeannie had made meat sauce and clam sauce for spaghetti
pasta, a green salad, bread sticks and someone had made a fabulous chocolate
cake - I LOVED IT!!! It is a GREAT experience for me to be in my childrens'
homes and see them interact with new members in their families - David just
fits right in. He had a flat tire on the way coming to dinner and he
changed it SO quickly, I couldn't believe it. Preston of course is the star
attraction and he is laughing right out loud now and is darling!!!
Mary Ann came to visit me during the week and
she was dressed in her "nurse's uniform" and looked SO cute. She likes her
job and says she helps a lot with the "elderly" so I told her to save me a
room. It was funny to hear her describe how possessive they are about their
food - food all of a sudden becomes VERY important I guess when you don't
have anything else to think about.
Claire - thank you SO much for all the
pictures. Bob came over on Friday night and told me their home was filled
with Katie's friends for a spaghetti dinner - I believe there were twenty of
them. Claire sent some pictures of them and she also sent pictures of all
their "cell" phones lined up on the table - WOW - that is surely a sign of
the times. I remember going to my grandparents' home in Lehi and using the
phone that was hanging on their wall and waiting for the operator to say,
"Number Please" and then I would give the number and she would ring it. I
also remember that when the phone rang there were a certain number of rings
for each family and ALL the phones were on "party lines" so you never knew
when someone else was listening to your conversations.
John - I'm sorry I have missed your phone
calls. The people who have been living in his home in Orem have moved out.
They had signed a contract to buy it but they couldn't sell their home in
Bountiful and since they couldn't make payments on two homes they had to
move. I am SO sorry that John has that worry again - he has put it up for
sale again and I hope he sells it REALLY soon. He is going to do some
painting and clean the carpets and get it in tip top shape again. He said
they had taken pretty good care of it. They say that Real Estate is the
very best investment right now and I personally think John's home is prime
Real Estate!!!
Annie - thank you for your note. I'm glad you
all like your "Responsible Woman" porcelains. I have seen Jeannies
displayed - she has it on one of her kitchen shelves where she can look at
it often and she says it "inspires" her - Ha!!! I know you are SUPER busy
with your teaching schedule and all the activities in your home and
supporting Ron with his ward responsibilities. I have a darling picture of
Susanna, Steve and Jackson and it makes me sad to think about them moving
away but I know they are getting excited. Susanna - I LOVE the framed
picture you and Barji gave me of Jackson and Preston - they don't come any
cuter than those two!!!
Emily - a young woman played a flute solo in our
ward meeting today and I thought of you. The name of the music was "Love At
Home" and the piano accompaniment was very special too. I hope all your
schedules are "working out" with carpools, etc., etc. I remember the Winter
days in Little Rock and when it snowed or was icy it was a worry getting
everyone to school. How is Grandma Suzy - I haven't heard from her for a
long time and I hope she is doing good.
I haven't done anything special this week - I
have enjoyed being home and getting "caught up" from the holidays. I hope
you're all caught up too!!! I LOVE EACH ONE OF YOU SO VERY, VERY MUCH.
PLEASE BE SO VERY, VERY CAREFUL IN EVERYTHING YOU DO.
Grandma B XXXXXXXXXXXXXXOOOOOOOOOOOO
