Dearest Family,

HAPPY LABOR DAY WEEKEND TO EACH ONE OF YOU!!!  I am personally happy to see the beginning of the Fall Season which is my favorite season of all.  We have had such a HOT and dry Summer but it has been a WONDERFUL Summer for me and I hope you can all reflect back on all the GREAT things we did together as a family as well as individuals and be grateful for them.  I don't like to see our swimming pool close - they'll probably keep it open as long as it is warm enough.  I swim every morning and love it.

The Bobs are in Lake Powell and according to the weather news, they are having good weather.  They left on Thursday morning and they had alot of wind that night and that is very scary in Lake Powell but it is nice now.  They are coming home tomorrow I think.  I see alot of cars pulling boats on the freeway so I know there will be a crowd at all the lakes and camping spots.

John is camping in the Uintas and that sounds just WONDERFUL!!!  I talked to him on Friday afternoon and he sounded excited - he LOVES the outdoors and he was going with some friends.  He has such a good healthy lifestyle - I can't help but wonder what they eat when they camp like that.  I feel sure they don't make "S'MORES" or roast hotdogs - Ha!!!

The Weinerts are going to do a little golfing tomorrow as a family so I'll look for them on the golf course.  I was with them for the Davis High/Brighton football game on Friday night and I enjoyed that SO much.  Barji and Boyd brought little Preston and he is such a darling baby boy and they are such darling and proud parents - it was fun to see so many of their friends come to see the baby.  Boyd's brother, Danny, was there also and he is at BYU and came home for the weekend.  SARAH is a beautiful cheerleader and she's the main reason I went to the game - it scares me to see them throw her in the air and then just have the other young girls catch her but they practice plenty so I'm sure she's safe.  Mary Ann and Dave had planned to come but they changed their minds so I didn't get to see them.  Mary Ann is moving to Salt Lake this weekend and will start at the University of Utah next week - GOOD LUCK MARY ANN AND STUDY HARD!!!  (She tells me that she only reads the parts of my letter that mention her - Ha!)  I haven't seen Ricky for a long time and I wouldn't be surprised to have him come home this weekend too - he loves Logan and Utah State.  Davis High won their game by about three touchdowns - they have a good team.

Jeannie and I were kinda' late in getting to the game and I believe the entire student body was there with everyone else from Davis County.  We took the first seats we came to and tried to save some for Rick, Boyd and Barji and after we were there for a few minutes we discovered we were right next to the Davis High Band - WOW - they are SO loud!!!  I'm sure Brett had to "pull some strings" in order to get excused so he could go to Lake Powell.  The band is exceptionally good and I love to see some of the young band members conduct their music.  I want to go to all the games I can and I'll make sure I get there early next time - Ha!!!

I'm betting the Roys go camping this weekend unless Roy is on call.  I remember this is a beautiful time in Arkansas to go fishing and maybe float the Buffalo River.  I have thought about Emily all week as she has started school at Central High - what a GREAT experience for her and I hope she will write and tell me about it.  This is a new experience for their entire family to have their three children all in different schools - I hope they get their carpooling and activity schedules all worked out so they are NEVER alone!!!  The many child abductions this past Summer scare me to death!!!

Bishop Woolley and his family probably don't have a minute to spare - I'd like to have a hidden video of their family's activities this year.  Annie had told me about a proposed school board meeting with the members of their district and she was worried because they were going to have to deal with budget problems that would involve increasing taxes.  There was an article in our paper about it and they are going to have to do that and it said the present school board had inherited the problems.  It's fun to have a daughter who is involved in community affairs like that and I'm proud of you Ann.  Lee Anna has moved into her dorm at BYU and Jimmy is practicing football in this terrible HOT weather and Ann says he is almost too tired when he comes home to even eat his dinner.  Russell is probably going to go back to Madagascar and I'm happy about that and I hope he is too.  He has enjoyed Johannesburg and it's great for him to have all these experiences.  I'm anxious to hear how Jessie likes San Diego and her school.  I'm also anxious to see little Jackson again - I know he has changed A LOT since I saw him last.  I keep hearing about the nurse shortage here in Utah and I'm sure Susanna is tempted to start working again.

The first BYU home game was on Thursday night - it was also the night of a wedding reception for a young woman in my ward that was being held in South Salt Lake.  I was very interested in seeing how the quarterback, Brett Engemann, could handle the job after being injured two years ago so I stayed home from the reception.  I felt VERY guilty but the game was good and he is going to be a good quarterback unless he gets injured again.  I remember when he was a friend of Susanna and her friends.

I went to Logan yesterday afternoon for the Utah State/University of Utah football game.  I LOVE to go there and it brings back a million memories.  One of the men in the condos who went with us used to play football at Utah State and he asked me how I liked football when I was a student there - I really don't believe they had football for the first few years I was there because there weren't any men - they were all in World War 2.  I don't remember ever going to a game.  I looked for Ricky yesterday but didn't see him - hope he was there.  I know Michael and Laura are at Lake Powell so they wouldn't be there.  The U. of U. won the game but Utah State held them pretty well up until the last quarter.  Margaret has a "platinum card" for everything so we park right outside the gate and have seats on the 50 yard line - her entire family went too and took their motor home - they have LOTS of fun together.

Rosie, Carol Ann and Arts' daughter called me one day this week.  She is losing her hearing and says she has inherited Granny Mellor's deafness and she wants Bob to help her if he can.  She is just 35 years old and she is worried and I don't blame her - I'm sure that is a genetic problem since all Daddy's sisters also have it.  I told Rosie I had a hearing problem too and she said, "Yes, but you're not 35"She told me that Carol Ann was in Las Vegas to be with Jimmy during an operation on his little baby boy.  I guess he has real problems - they thought it was water on the brain but Rosie said it is that his brain is not growing.  I hope they can help him.  Did you know that Holly Lockhart had her baby soon after the Mellor reunion?  The baby was at least a month premature and had to stay in the hospital for a little while but is doing fine now - she had another baby girl.

That's all the news - I think.  I LOVE EACH ONE OF YOU SO VERY, VERY MUCH.  PLEASE BE SO VERY, VERY CAREFUL IN EVERYTHING YOU DO.  Grandma B XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
