Weekly Report August 4, 2002

Dearest Family,

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO LAURA ON FRIDAY - 19 YEARS OLD!!!  You are surely accomplishing so many of your goals and I am very proud of you - one year plus of college already - THAT'S GREAT!!!  I hope you have a  WONDERFUL birthday!!!

It would have been Lynn's 82nd birthday tomorrow, Granny Mellor's birthday on Saturday and Grandmother Forrest's birthday on next Sunday and she would have been 100 so August is a popular birthday month for my family.  Don and Cheryl and I are going to go to dinner to celebrate Mother's 100th but I'm not sure when.  I had planned to have a "mini Forrest reunion" but everyone is just too busy and I knew you would all try to come.

This will just be a short note.  I just came home from Sacrament meeting and must leave in an hour to go to Brigham City where I will meet Rolly and Mary Ann Holman and ride to Star Valley with them.  Margaret and other friends left last Thursday but I didn't want to get a temple substitute and the Holmans also work at the temple on Saturdays so we will go together.  We will come home on Thursday and I'm looking forward to being where it is a little cooler - Margaret called me and told me to be sure to bring a sweat shirt for the mornings.

Patrice - Thank you SO very much for those wonderful pictures.  I was thrilled to see the picture of Roy water skiing on Lake Hamilton and it looked like you were having such a good time with your friends.  I LOVE that part of Arkansas - I used to go to parties there with my garden club because one of our members had a Summer Home there and it was beautiful.

I believe this has been one of my busiest Summers - fun but busy.  My friends from Thailand have been here and we had a Thai teacher reunion for them last Wednesday at a park in Bountiful.  I don't believe I have ever enjoyed their dancing as much as I did that day - they cleared out a place in the pavillion and they had all their Thai instruments and they performed for at least an hour for us - there were 25 of them and they are SO beautiful and gracious.  Teachers from the third group came and it was fun to meet some of them - I was in the first group and many from our group came also.  I am SO fortunate because I was a part of the second group for a couple months and they include me in their activities too.  Marc and Cherri Hall who have just returned from Russia were there and it was good to visit with them.  One of the teachers brought a delicious curry and she has promised to send me her recipe - it was VERY hot but I loved it.  They featured the Thai dancing group on Channel 2 one day this week - Margaret called me and said "turn your television to Channel 2" - I never watch that channel so I was happy she called me.

We had such a fun time on Friday visiting with Janet Reeves - Steve's Mom has been here from Florida to welcome her new little grandson, Jackson.  I have been calling him Wesley but it is Jackson Wesley or the other way around and they will call him Jackson - I love both those names.  Janet, Steve, Susanna and baby Jackson, Ann, Jessie, Barji and baby Preston, Jean and I all met at the Garden Room in the Joseph Smith Memorial Building for lunch.  It was SO good to be with Janet again and we all had such a good time but we missed Claire and John's Laura - they didn't have enough notice to make arrangements to be with us.  Speaking of names - I couldn't remember what Steve's Father's name is and when Janet told me it is Doyle, I just drew a blank and said I had never heard of that name before.  When I came home it dawned on me that Boyd Packer's brother's name is Doyle and he was a good friend of mine in Brigham City.

That's all the news for now.  I don't worry when I am away for a few days if I am with Margaret because Jeannie can always get in touch with me because of her friend who is Margaret's daughter.  I LOVE EACH ONE OF YOU SO VERY, VERY MUCH.  PLEASE BE SO VERY, VERY CAREFUL IN EVERYTHING YOU DO.  Grandma B XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
