Dearest Family,

Thank you all SO VERY MUCH for a WONDERFUL Mother's Day today!!!  I have heard from each one of you and I appreciate that more than you will ever know - at least not until you are 75 years old - Ha!!!  You are doing SO good and I'm SO proud of you!!!  I'm looking forward SO much to being with my Utah family this next Sunday for Russell's farewell - even though I hear from you and see some of you I MISS YOU!!!  I wish the Roy Mellors and John lived close enough to be with us.  I had a delicious salmon dinner with the Weinert Family after church and then Rick and Ricky came over to my condo to put a light fixture back into my ceiling.  I decided to do some housecleaning this week and the light fixture in my family room upstairs was REALLY dusty so I thought I would just take the bottom part off and wash the glass inside.  When I unscrewed the bottom part, the whole light fixture fell off and it was just too heavy for me to put it back together. There is a man in the condos who is quite handy and helps me with the swimming pool stuff so when he came to see me the other day I asked him if he would help me - he took one look at it and said I would have to put 2 by 4's in the ceiling - I told him I didn't intend to do some remodeling just to put the fixture back on so he left.  Annie and Susanna came by on Friday afternoon on their way to the Grundahl wedding reception so I asked them to help me - THAT WAS REALLY SELFISH OF ME BECAUSE THEY WERE ALL DRESSED UP AND GOING FOR THE WEDDING PICTURES.  I really thought it would be an easy thing to do but it was just too heavy for one person - they tried and tried but they couldn't do it either.  SO I asked Rick and Ricky to help me today and THEY DID IT!!!  Thank you SO much!!!

Claire and Bob - Thank you SO much for your e-mails and pictures of Michael with his African friends.  I LOVED the African outfits and the African woman is very pretty.  Richard is what I call a "chocolate brown" and very clean looking and so is his friend.  I can just see Michael "jiving" with them - I wonder if they are musical and I also want to know what place in Africa they are from.  My neighbors who served two missions there say that Ghana is doing good but Sierre Leone (sp.?) is having lots of problems - they try to send them money but have to do it express like John did for me and in order to give them a "code" they devised questions about the church that only they would know.  I'm sorry I missed Brett's soccer game - I had bought a corsage for the bridal shower and when it got so hot outside I couldn't quite figure out how I could keep it cool in the car while I watched his game and then go to Oakridge in time for the luncheon.  Margaret had to go to a genealogy reunion and was going to be late for the shower and asked me to be there to welcome the ones we had invited.  Anyway - things got too complicated!!!   Did they win???

Jesse - I LOVE your e-mails and I want you to write to me often.  I will try to "de-code" the words you send.  What are you and Emily and Timothy going to do when school is out - my invitation to stay with me is still good!!!   Roy - I LOVED my beautiful MOTHER'S Day card!!!

John - I feel SO bad that I missed your phone call today - I was at church.  I can be home alone all day for hours and hours and when I leave I always get phone calls or visits from my family - it never fails!!!   I wasn't here when Annie and Susanna came by on Friday but I came just as they were leaving.  I have loved and appreciated your messages through the week and it sounds like you are doing good and I'm SO glad!!!

Annie & Susanna - Thank you SO much for your visit on Friday and please forgive me for asking you to help with the light fixture - I'm sure your hair got all messed up.  That was dumb of me but I honestly didn't think it would be that big a job!!!  AND Susanna and Steve - I'm sorry I missed your visit yesterday when you were here for the Grundahl reunion - what time did you come?  Do you all remember where my house key is?  Bob put a false bottom of cardboard in that little vase of sunflowers by the window and it is right under that.  There are times when I am lying down upstairs with the television on and can't hear the doorbell so PLEASE come in and try to find me.  I want to hear all about Kari's reception and her wedding cake that Joan made - it was a pretty night so I'm sure everything went good.  I also want to hear about Russell and Rons' trip to Lake Powell and about Annie's "all day" school board meeting on Saturday - UGH!!!  I can't believe that Jessie is in Boston already but she will be home this next weekend for Russells' farewell and it will be fun to hear about her experiences.

Weinerts - thank you for the delicious dinner today.  I always LOVE being with all of you.  I hope Ricky finds a job soon -  you all remember how hard it is to find a Summer job.  He could get one in a minute if he didn't plan to go back to college in the Fall - something good will come up.  Mary Ann is SO excited about going to Europe and Sarah is SO excited about being able to drive in just one more week.  Rick and Jeannie are excited about going to Oklahoma on Wednesday for a few days to be with Barji and Boyd and see where they live.  I hope Mary Ann and Sarah will call me if I can help them this weekend.

I went to a Humanitarian Missionary Reunion on Friday night with Virginia and another teacher and we had such a good time.  I know there were at least 500 former missionaries there and I have never seen so much food - all kinds of salads and vegetables and rolls and then individual strawberry sundaes.  I really enjoyed seeing so many former Thai teachers and other people.  There will always be a special bond between the group of teachers who went to Thailand and even those who followed the first group because some of them stayed in the same townhouses where we stayed and taught the same people.

Margaret, Karen Nelson and I hosted a bridal shower for a neighbor's son's fiancé' who is getting married this weekend.  We had it at the Oakridge Country Club and the luncheon was delicious - it was on Saturday afternoon.  This bride has four little boys and is divorced and the man she is marrying has been married twice before so they are going to have a challenge but we are all thrilled for them.  The groom's parents have bought them a townhouse close to the condos and Margaret is giving them a week's lodging in one of her Park City condos as a wedding present so they have a lot of support.

After the shower I went to a "Barbershop Concert" in Salt Lake and it was WONDERFUL.  I have always enjoyed barbershop singing and this group is very talented - a man in our ward sings in it and he has done this for 25 years - he told us they practice four hours a week so that's quite a commitment.

This letter is funny - I visited on the telephone with Margaret before it was finished - then Mary Ann came over and visited - then John called and I visited with him for a little while and I was SO glad I was home - then Bob and Claire came over and we had a good visit so now I am going to close whether or not it makes sense.  I LOVE being your Mother - it is the greatest honor I could ever have.

I LOVE YOU ALL SO VERY, VERY MUCH.  PLEASE BE SO VERY, VERY CAREFUL IN EVERYTHING YOU DO.   Grandma B XXXXXXXXOOOOOOOO
