Weekly Report August 27, 2000
Dearest Family,
I came over to have dinner with Jeannie today, Sunday, and since my computer is "out of whack" she offered to let me use their computer. I had dinner with Bob and Claire on Friday night at a fabulous Italian restaurant and then Bob helped me with my computer - just when I think I know all there is to know about computers he helps me learn LOTS more!!! THEN he came over again on Saturday afternoon and showed me LOTS more!!!
I am SO thrilled with the things I can do on my (his) computer - he showed me how to access the scriptures and then have them "read" to me and it is WONDERFUL - I had no idea the computer had a broadcasting part on it. Anyway, he wanted to "upgrade" it but he couldn't wait until it downloaded
because it took an hour so he asked me to do it. I thought all I had to do was to answer "yes" to the questions it asked after it had finished downloading so that's what I did. There were many questions but I couldn't understand what most of them meant and I guess I fouled it up. When I went to write my letter my keyboard wouldn't work. I called Bob and he came over between his meetings at church today and left me a note with the phone number of "technical support". I called them and they had me do a million things
like unplugging certain things and finally after about an hour of talking to them they told me the keyboard was broken and they would send me another one. Bob just recently bought this computer so it is still under warranty but I feel bad because it worked perfectly until it was being upgraded and I obviously did something wrong. The new keyboard won't be here until next Tuesday or Wednesday SO I am happy to be able to use the Weinert's computer to write my letter.
I hope you are all doing GREAT!!! I was thrilled with your letter Roy and I am hoping your job situation in Little Rock won't be resolved because we would all LOVE to have you with us in Utah. Daddy and I lived far, far away from family all of our married life and I don't recommend it - especially for your children. I LOVE Little Rock though and I want you to do what is best for your family - I'm sure you will!!!
Patrice - thank you for your letters. I LOVE to hear about the children's school activities and I'm glad Emily's school is air conditioned. It has REALLY been a Hot Summer in Utah this year - we are supposed to get Fall weather this weekend.
John - I haven't heard from you for a long, long time. I hope you are doing good. I believe Bob has heard from you so I'm not REALLY worried but I would like to hear from you soon.
I am anxious to hear from the Woolleys too and learn how Russell is doing at Utah State. Jeannie is very happy with Ricky's situation - they moved him over yesterday and met his roommates and his Bishop, etc. I got my Florida pictures back and they are SO good - I will send you them soon. Annie - I believe you start your work tomorrow and I'm excited for you to come to Bountiful to work with one of your student teachers - please come see me when you can.
I keep thinking about Michael and I hope things are going great for him. Claire said he is very happy with his group of friends in the MTC. It won't be long before he will be leaving for Italy and that is SO exciting. I am proud of you Michael for being able to give the Joseph Smith story in Italian. - that is a real accomplishment.
This past week has been good for me to try to get "caught up" from being in Florida. I love to look at my pictures and remember the WONDERFUL time I had there and think about how good the Reeves' family was to all of us. I know Susanna and Steve are happy getting ready for school and settling into their
apartment. Barji and Boyd are doing good too - Boyd's coach and his wife have had them for dinner and Barji is SO happy with all the friends they have made.
I went to a wedding reception last night - Margaret's granddaughter was married and it was a beautiful occasion. It was fun to see Mary Ann and Matt there too. The parents have a large backyard and they had huge tents in it where they had tables set up. I went with some condo friends and I had a good time.
I am going to Yellowstone with Ellen Mae and Mel on Tuesday morning. We will first go to West Yellowstone where we will see "Joseph and the Amazing Color Dream Coat" - we saw that last year and it is SO good. They use college students in the presentation and we need to go before school starts and they return to their colleges. We will also go to Jackson Hole where we will go to the "Bar J" barbecue and dinner and then we will go to Margaret's Etna Wyoming home on Thursday night and come home on Friday. IT WILL BE FUN!!! I LOVE YOU ALL SO VERY, VERY MUCH. PLEASE BE SO VERY, VERY CAREFUL IN EVERYTHING YOU DO. Grandma B XXXXXXXOOOOOOOO
