Weekly Report April 17, 2000
Dearest Family,
I had just written to you when the
power went off and I lost my letter!!! The power goes off quite often
but this is the first time I have been on the computer - there is no way I can
retrieve it so I'll start over. I am in a hurry too because I have to be
to work at 3:15 today for another training meeting instead of the regular time
of 5 o'clock.
We had such a fun time last night
celebrating Jeannie's birthday we missed John, the Woolleys and the Roy
Mellors and of course Ricky.
I took some pictures of Jeannie blowing out her candles and I hope they are
good. I sent Annie an -email telling her to come but she didn't access
her internet so she didn't know about it but she called many times and so did
Roy and it was SO good to talk to him. I haven't talked to Roy for about
a year - he has called and left messages but I haven't been here. I LOVE
being with my teenage grandchildren and hearing about their activities.
Laura and Mary Ann had been to Proms on Saturday night and it was fun to hear
about them and especially to see Bob describe Laura's hairdo - I'm anxious to
see the pictures they took.
Mary Ann's date, Matt Steed, has
been involved in family activities all week because his grandfather had passed
away so I don't believe their Prom activity was as they had planned but they
had a good time. Mary Ann had played her violin at the services on
Saturday and I have heard she did such a good job. Matt is the grandson
of my neighbor Margaret Anderson and she said it was WONDERFUL!!!
This seems to be the week for
funerals. I went to Provo last Tuesday to attend the burial and memorial
services for Kevin Sondrup and I was SO pleased to have Annie come too.
The services were beautiful and I admire Barbara very much - she had to plan a
service in Georgia as well as in Utah. Do any of you remember Viola and
Tony Munk? They came from Oregon, Marilyn and Dean Harris and their son
Curtis came from Texas, Dianne and Garry Power came from California and then
Linda Smithers and I attended. I haven't seen the Munks for a long, long
time and we had a WONDERFUL time visiting. I had an e-mail from Barbara
this morning and she is already back in Georgia and as she says, "With
all kinds of paperwork", and I can relate to that!!! I can't help
but think back on the few weeks after Daddy died and how kind all of you were
to help me with EVERYTHING - I remember Roy coming and saying "I'll do
anything you want me to do" so we went to the cabin (that was hard) and
then he helped me get the Toyota Van ready to sell. ANY WAY I just hope
Barbara Sondrup has that much family support.
Annie called me last night to tell
me that my "Used to be Aunt" had passed away so I will be going to
Lehi on Wednesday to attend her funeral - Lucille Webb. That will leave
a void in my life even though she was almost 90 years old. It will be
good to see my Lehi friends again - I'm sure they will all be there
I have such fond memories of the times I have spent with Lucille. Her
step daughters don't like me very much but that's okay. They seem to
think she should have received a much larger settlement from her divorce from
my Uncle Hugh and I had absolutely nothing to do with that - - I wasn't even
in Utah when that all happened. My Aunt Marvel didn't like her because
she thought she received more than she deserved. Lucille was a very,
very nice and refined woman and I loved her I have visited her often in
the resthome - the last time I saw her was during the Christmas holidays.
Her step daughters were so very good to her.
This has been a special week for
me because I have talked to each one of you. John called a few minutes
ago to tell me that my income tax forms will have to be sent in late unless
the accountant gets them done before midnight tonight. John doesn't feel
very well - he has a bad cold. He travels SO much and doesn't get the
rest he needs.
I am SO excited to go to Little
Rock this weekend. I am going on Saturday and will come home on
Wednesday. I can hardly wait to see Emily, Timothy and Jesse.
Timothy and Jesse have asked me to come into their classrooms and say a few
things about my time in Thailand and I am looking forward to that. I
hope I don't embarrass them. Jesse's teacher has done a similar mission
in foreign countries so it will be fun to meet her and learn about the things
she has done.
The Weinerts are going to Las
Vegas for the Easter holidays and the Bob Mellors are going to Minnesota to the
"Mall of America" - I don't know if the Woolleys or John have plans
to go anywhere. It is such a beautiful time of the year and even though
Patrice says their Spring is over I know how beautiful Little Rock is and I'm
anxious to be there.
I LOVE YOU ALL VERY, VERY MUCH -
PLEASE BE VERY, VERY CAREFUL IN EVERYTHING YOU DO.
