Weekly Report March 27, 2000

Dearest Family,

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO KATIE ON FRIDAY!!!  You will be twelve years old and what a happy young girl you are and I know you will have a WONDERFUL party or celebration all planned by now.  I hope you have a very happy day with your friends and family.  I also hope your "tumbling" event was fun and successful.  Claire - thank you for your phone messages.  I laughed as I listened to them and read your e-mail - your e-mail said that Katie was involved in a tumbling event in Brigham City and your phone message said that Laura was involved in a tumbling event in Bountiful.  When I told Bob about that he said "We have too many children" - Ha!!!  I couldn't go because of my temple assignment.

MARY ANN - thanks for staying with me on Friday night.  Jeannie, Barji and Sarah went to St. George where Sarah was involved in a dance competition and Mary Ann wanted to stay home for her violin judging (or something) in Salt Lake.  I told Margaret that I thought she and Matt might come here before I got home from work so Margaret brought them a lemon pie and I made them sandwiches - as it turned out they didn't come but Mary Ann came here about midnight.  It was SO funny - I moved my car way over to the edge of the garage to make room for Mary Ann to bring her car in on the other side.  As it turned out she parked her car right in back of me on the driveway.  I tried for about ten minutes to "squeeze" out of the garage and I guess she heard me and awakened and came to move her car.  I felt SO bad - I tried hard to be quiet.  She decided to go home and sleep for the next couple hours before she had to leave for Salt Lake.  As I look back on it I didn't help her one bit but I enjoyed getting ready for her anyway.  She is such a sweet and thoughtful young woman as all my granddaughters are.

Last week seemed REALLY busy to me - I spent a lot of time talking on the phone to Chris before she left to go home to Little Rock and then a lot of ward members came to my condo to give me money for a wedding gift.  I enjoyed having them come and visiting but it actually took my whole week - I didn't get to "curves" one time.

I also spent a lot of time on the phone with Virginia - she came home on Tuesday from Thailand.  We are getting together this morning at her apartment with Phyllis, Janet, LaRae and Ruth to hear more about our mutual friends in Bangkok, and also Ruth's trip to Israel.  It will be good to see Virginia again.

Margaret invited me to go to Park City with her on Saturday.  It was a "spur of the moment" thing and I had such a good time.  I had intended to help her clean her condo because she had had relatives staying there a couple weeks ago but they had cleaned so all we did was change the bed linens.  It was just BEAUTIFUL up there and we went for a walk and then we visited and visited and just had fun.  We went for pizza on main street in Park City and I couldn't believe how "alive" it was even late at night - LOTS of families!!!  We had a very difficult time finding a place to park.  We didn't go to church Sunday morning - Margaret hasn't been to the church there but her family has and we decided we would go the next time we go there.  They have a very nice chapel in Park City and two others close by.

Yesterday Margaret asked me if I had been to the "Upper Deer Valley" and of course I haven't been there so she took me on a tour.  I absolutely couldn't believe it - it is like another complete residential area with some of the largest homes and condo buildings I have ever seen.  She showed me the "mountain" that Huntsman owns and told me that Steve Young also has a place there but I didn't see it.  It is just a fantastic place and of course it was filled with skiers.  I REALLY like the place where Margaret's condo is much better - she is close to the golf course where they have the "Senior's Golf Tournament" in August.  We got home in time to watch the "Oscars" - it was such a fun, fun weekend.

ANNIE AND JEANNIE - Thank you SO much for your e-mails.  I love to come to the computer to find your messages - especially since I can NEVER reach you by phone - Ha!!!  JOHN - thank you for your phone message too.  John has been traveling a lot - New York, California, etc., etc.  EMILY - Thank you for your e-mails - I enjoy hearing from you SO much!!!

I'm sure I have forgotten lots to write about and I'm sure you are glad about that!!!  I must get ready to go visiting teaching and then to Salt Lake to visit with my friends - they are SO sweet to plan times so I can get back in time to go to work.  They kept ZCMI open until 10 o'clock last week and that is SO dumb - we just sit and look at each other for the last two hours.  I don't want to work much longer - there are too many things going on!!!  I want to go to Little Rock when it is convenient for Roy and Patrice SO let me know!!!

I LOVE YOU ALL SO VERY, VERY MUCH.  PLEASE BE SO VERY, VERY CAREFUL IN EVERYTHING YOU DO.  Grandma B XO
