Weekly Report February 14, 2000
Dearest Family,
CONGRATULATIONS TO RICKY - he has
been made a zone leader!!! I am very proud of you Ricky and that is such
a great leadership opportunity. Did you know that the Woolleys have your
pictures on their refrigerator? It is fun to go to their home and see
that.
HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!! ROY, PATRICE,
EMILY, TIMOTHY AND JESSE - Thank you SO much for your darling computer
Valentine greeting - it was so fun to access it and it reminded me of
something Emily could make.
I was so excited this morning when I turned on the
television and the news was that the ski slopes had 30 inches of new powder
snow - I got up and opened my blinds expecting snow and we are just having
rain!!! I am happy they are getting snow in the mountains anyway.
They have been talking about the wind in the South part of Utah but it is very
calm here. What do they say - "when you don't have much news you
write about the weather"!!!
I had such a fun day yesterday. Cade Frisby
came home from his mission in Dallas, Texas this past week and his homecoming
was yesterday - Steve had sent me an e-mail telling me about it and I wanted
to go. I didn't make up my mind until in the morning because I didn't
want to go if it had snowed during the night. I got to John's home about
11 a.m. and I JUST LOVE HIS HOME - every time I go there I regret that we
didn't remodel it when Daddy and I lived there. It is so homey and
livable. John has pictures of Jesse, Emily and Timothy with Sammie on
his refrigerator and also other family and friends' pictures. We visited and
tried to get Michael to wake up so he could go to lunch with us but he was
sound asleep so we left without him and we felt bad!!! John said he had
told him I would be there about 11. There is a WONDERFUL Mexican
restaurant close by the church so we went there - Chevy's. I haven't
been to have Mexican food for a long, long time so it was a real treat for me
but after I had eaten John said, "Mother, you have probably just eaten
2500 calories" - Ha!!!
We went to church after eating and I LOVED seeing
my friends - the ward hasn't changed very much. It is a GREAT place to
live and people don't move!!! Moki and Tar greeted me but after I got
home I realized they didn't bark - I guess they had those collars on that
prevent them from barking. We just stayed for Sacrament meeting and then
went back to Johns. Michael was awake so I got to visit with him too.
He had told me about his bedroom downstairs so I asked him if I could see it
and he said "Sure". John laughed and said "Just what you
want when you first wake up in the morning - to show your bedroom to your
Grandma" - Ha!!! I was surprised to see how WONDERFUL it is - he
has his bed and futon in the big room and his computer in the room that used
to be the children's playroom. John and Michael both look GREAT!!!
I felt bad as I left - I didn't do one thing to help them. When I think
about fixing food for John I realize that I can't do that anymore - he will
change and eat more normally as the years go by - I hope!!!
I went to visit the Woolleys and I
LOVED that. Ann was busy preparing food for her family and also John and
Michael - a huge roast, potatoes, peas, fruit salad and delicious rolls.
Annie is a great cook and it was fun to watch Lee Anna make a fruit salad as
if she did it every day. Jimmy and Russell were wrestling - Russell is a
wrestler in his school so he has to practice at home - ha!!! I haven't
seen Ron for forever - he was in church meetings. Their home is
BEAUTIFUL!!!
I went to the cemetery - they are
really expanding it and they take such good care of it. I then drove
around the farm and there are a lot of cows on it - it looks good. The
big elementary school they are building just North of the farm is going to be
completed soon. I still can't figure out the huge building just West of
the farm - I guess it is a home but it is unusually big.
SUSANNA - thank you SO much for all your efforts
in getting tickets for us to go see the "Judds" in concert at the
Delta Center. Jessie and Barji came from Logan and we met Ann and
Susanna in Salt Lake - Lee Anna couldn't go with us. We went to dinner
at "Cafe Point" and I guess I had Mexican food there too but I had a
Mexican chicken salad - at Chevy's I had a chile relleno and an enchilada which
is REAL Mexican food - Ha!!! We had the best seats in the center and
Susanna had bought them through the internet. That is the first time I
have been to the Delta Center and it is HUGE and so comfortable. Naomi
and Wynona Judd did a fantastic job - Naomi (the mother) has not performed for
9 years and that made it special. There was also a singer who started
the program (I can't remember her name) and she was fabulous. IT WAS SO
MUCH FUN!!!
I went to the Roger's Memorial Theatre
presentation of "Cinderella" with the condo group on Thursday night
and it was SO good. They had big homely men play the parts of the
stepsisters and it was hilarious. I am always amazed at how they can put
on a program like that in such a small theatre but there is so much talent
here that they do it very well. The young woman who played the part of
Cinderella has a beautiful voice and so did the Prince. I LOVED IT!!!
I told them at work that I wanted Tuesday and
Thursday off so they asked me to work the late shift on Saturday - 5 - 11p.m.
ZCMI has had more sales than I can ever remember and they are going to have
another one this week - I keep thinking the merchandise will be gone soon but
they always seem to have more. I wanted to ask for Friday off because
Bob had invited me to go to their ward's Valentine Ball but I didn't dare.
Claire was in Arizona this past week with her
friend, Martha, playing tennis and I know they had a good time. I
dropped in to see Laura, Brett and Katie and they get along just WONDERFUL -
they are always SO happy and busy doing school things with friends AND
PRACTICING the piano and the drums. It's fun to go to their home!!!
I LOVE YOU ALL SO VERY, VERY MUCH. PLEASE BE
SO VERY, VERY CAREFUL IN EVERYTHING YOU DO. Grandma
