Weekly Report November 17, 1999
Dearest Family,
My computer is "down" so I won't be able
to send this e-mail but I will write it anyway and get a copy to send to
Ricky. I am so accustomed to coming to the computer in the morning and
accessing letters from "all over the world" and from my family and
it has been down since last Saturday and I am lost - Ha!!! I thought
maybe it was a problem with the company so I waited until Monday thinking it
would correct itself but it hasn't. I will get it fixed soon.
There is a man here in the condo area who is a retired computer expert and
I'll ask him to help me. I have called the technical support number but
they are always busy and don't return my calls.
I just talked to Jeannie and she told me they had
a WONDERFUL visit with Ricky's A.P. who has just come home from El Salvador.
He lives in Sandy and he came to see them yesterday with all kinds of news
about "Elder Weinert". She said that Ricky is doing GREAT and
even though his pictures look like he is too thin, he is in good health.
He also told them how impressed he is with Ricky's Mission President - he is a
native South American and very, very nice. Jeannie was so THRILLED that
this young man would come to visit with them. The Weinerts are busy
getting their home decorated for Christmas - their home will be in the
Farmington Christmas Home Tour and it will be great to have it decorated this
soon but it is a lot of work!!!
SUSANNA - thank you SO much for your sweet note.
I was thrilled to look in my little "box" and see this cute
decorated envelope - I don't get very much mail (I hear from friends by
e-mail) so I am always happy to get a letter. Your letter reminded me of
the letters we used to receive from Annie when she was in college - they were
always decorated like yours was and we LOVED them. I hope the Woolleys
are doing good - Russell had a little accident caused by the driver of the
other car and they have been without that car and that is a "hassle"
but no one was hurt.
Laura, Brett, Katie and Sarah came over on Sunday
afternoon to have a piece of pumpkin pie and while they were here I took
advantage of my time with them and gave them a genealogy lesson. I
showed them some VERY old family pictures and they were patient with me.
While we were talking I mentioned to them that when I was a young girl I
didn't even think about driving our family car and it was unthinkable that a
family would have more than one car - they looked at me as though I was
"telling a story". I NEED TO WRITE MY BOOK!!!
I am thinking about the Roy Mellor family and how
excited they must be in planning their trip to Washington in December for
Liz's wedding. I don't know when they will be going but I can tell from
talking to Emily that they are looking forward to it. Chris
Jordin called me on Saturday and she said you have been having
"strange" weather like we have been having - unseasonable warm
weather during the day and cold at night. They have had to have the
Winter Cup Ski Sport Activities in Colorado because it is too warm here to
make artificial snow and we haven't had any moisture for weeks. They say
in the news that Park City is really suffering financially because of this - I
don't feel too sorry for them - Ha!!! Chris told me that Barbara
Andrews' doctor is Dan Watson and she can't say enough nice things about him -
it's hard for me to believe that little Dan Watson is my friend's doctor.
I would like to see him again when I go to visit in Arkansas.
I hope Bob and Claire are enjoying their time in
Guatemala - their children are doing fine. I stopped by yesterday on my
way to work and everything was just great. Laura and Katie were fixing
them a bagel snack and I passed Michael as I was leaving. They call me
every night when they are all home and ready for bed - that way I can sleep
without worrying. I LOVE to go to their home after work sometimes
because someone is always practicing the piano and I can see either Laura or
Katie through the window and I can hear Brett playing his drums!!!
Michael is always there "somewhere" - Ha!!!
I wish John lived close by so he
could fix my computer - he would get sick and tired of that. I haven't
heard from him this week but I know he is traveling. My friends and his
neighbors, Francis and Dee Andersen, (Dee is President of the Mt. Timp.
Temple), called me one day not long ago and told me how impressed they are
with John. They said he went way beyond the call of duty in helping the
neighborhood with a "code problem" they were having.
I decorated my table at church on Saturday and it
looked just beautiful with some of my Thai things. The tables were all
just beautiful and very interesting. A couple in our ward did all the
cooking and the food was just delicious - baked chicken, shrimp and rice
casserole, vegetable, green salad and a million gourmet desserts brought by
some of the sisters in the ward. It was kinda' sad because it was
very poorly attended - part of the reason was that we had Stake Conference
last week and didn't have a meeting to announce it.
I am enjoying my work and it is very, very busy.
The store is open late now so I work from 5 to 10 for the next two nights and
then 6 to 11 on the next night. It has been very good for me and I have
learned SO much about retail sales.
I'm sorry I can't send this now but will send it
when my computer is fixed. I LOVE YOU ALL SO VERY, VERY MUCH.
PLEASE BE SO VERY, VERY CAREFUL IN EVERYTHING YOU DO. Grandma B
