Dearest Family,
WHAT A FUN, FUN DAY I HAD
YESTERDAY!!! The more times my family comes to spend the day with me the
more I LOVE my condo - I think it is because all of you know the limited space
I have in the kitchen and for seating and we all "just cope".
I think I could manage better and make more space but I just don't seem to
know how. I was SO thrilled to have the Woolleys come early - they came
about 10 a.m. with their arms full of delicious food and I kept them all to
myself because the others weren't coming until about noon. I was proud
of the children - they came up to the den and turned on conference without
being told to - Ha!!! Ron had spent Friday night and Saturday with his
Dad and Mimi in Jerome and so he didn't get here until noon but I appreciate
SO VERY MUCH having him plan it that way. IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO MAKE
EVERYBODY HAPPY BUT YOU ALL SEEM TO DO IT!!!
WE MISSED ROY AND PATRICE, EMILY,
TIMOTHY AND JESSE!!! John will see them this weekend and I think I am
more excited about his visit to Little Rock than he is. I believe he
will see them Saturday morning for a little while before they leave to drive
to Dallas and then he will stay in their home while he is there. I hope
SO MUCH that he will be able to do all that he wants to do while he is there -
I know top priority is to be with the children and see Sammie. I wish he
could meet Suzie but I understand she is not going to stay with the children -
they will have another sitter - she may be out of town.
Everyone is SO busy!!! John
is going to New York and other places tomorrow and then was able to schedule
his stop in Little Rock and then he goes back to New York the next week.
He was able to find my holiday decorations and brought them to me yesterday -
I can just imagine how sick and tired he is of bringing my million things but
he NEVER complains. What would I have done if he hadn't had a pickup
truck?????
The Governor of Bangkok, Gov.
Bhichit, is going to be honored at BYU's homecoming this weekend and they are
having a reception for him that afternoon. All the volunteer teachers
and young missionaries who served in Thailand for the last two years are
invited. I hope I will be able to get off work so I can go - they want
us to wear our Thai outfits. It will be fun - I will go with Virginia
and Janet. He is bringing his wife, a daughter who lives in Bangkok, his
brother and other teachers from the BMA and then he has a daughter attending
BYU now. I am very happy to be involved in all of this - it helps me to
understand how the church maintains such wonderful relationships with people
like the Governor who respects our beliefs but holds fast to the Buddhist
religion and there is never any judging.
I have joined
"Curves"!!! It is an exercising group and their building is
close to the condos - Ellen Mae's grandson and his wife bought the franchise.
They have about 10 exercise chairs along with little trampolines and it is for
30 minutes at least three times a week. I have only been twice but I
think it will be fun and good for me - Ellen Mae and Mel are on a trip now but
they will be home next week and Ellen Mae and Margaret Jost and I will go
together. We went one day last week and then went to the "Rock
Loft" and bought cinnamon rolls - that's the way I try to lose weight -
Ha!!! I don't believe Ann or Patrice have been there so we must go there
sometime - they have cute crafts for the different holidays besides other
things.
Don was in an accident last week
and he is still in the hospital. Two of his sons took him hunting - they
had permits for elk hunting in the Scofield area and I had told them to use
the cabin but they wanted to stay in their tents. One evening one of his
sons, Clint, hadn't come back to their camp so Don started out on his
four-wheeler and because it was dark he couldn't see the edge of the road and
fell off about 40 feet. He was trapped under the four wheeler but the
light stayed on and a sheepherder saw it and stopped - he could hear Don
calling for help so he found him and then found his sons. They got him
in their car and drove back to the Cottonwood hospital. He has 5 broken
ribs and a punctured lung and I think that is miraculous. Cheryl is SO
good about calling me to keep me up to date but she says he doesn't want any
company because he hurts too bad. Don doesn't use very good judgment in
the things he does for the shape he's in.
I just talked to Virginia and she
told me that Elder Hales is going to be operated on today for some kind of
lung problems. She said he attended the Saturday evening conference
session but came home with chills and fever and had been in bed all day
yesterday - I didn't see him on the stand yesterday but then I didn't watch
that closely except the afternoon session.
Roy and Patrice - I hope you have
a WONDERFUL time at your convention in Dallas and I hope the children get
along fine. How long will you be gone? My Utah Family - thank you
SO very much for coming to spend the day with me yesterday and for bringing
such delicious food. My refrigerator is full and I will love it.!!!
I LOVE YOU ALL SO VERY, VERY MUCH.
PLEASE BE SO VERY, VERY CAREFUL IN EVERYTHING YOU DO. Grandma B
