Dearest Family,

WHAT A WONDERFUL MOTHER'S DAY
YESTERDAY!!! I hope all the mothers and women in my family enjoyed it as
much as I did. We all met at the Weinert's new home about 4 o'clock for
an absolutely fabulous time and Jeannie could seat all of us at tables -
REMARKABLE!!! I hope the group picture turns out and I'll send you all
one. I think the highlight of the day was to talk to Ricky in El
Salvador - they allow all the missionaries to call home on Christmas and
Mother's Day. That is a new ruling since we served in Montana and it is
a good one - Ricky, you sound just the same as you always have and it was a
thrill for "all" of us to talk to you. What a great blessing
to have cousins like you have who love you SO much and miss you!!! WE'RE
ALL SO VERY PROUD OF YOU!!!
We missed having the Roy Mellors with us and I
kept hearing from the "cousins" - when are Roy and Patrice and their
family coming? Do you realize it has been almost two years since we have
seen you? We are REALLY looking forward to your visit soon and
especially to having Emily come for a little while by herself.
Jessie spent Saturday night with
me because she had a wedding reception to go to in Ogden and then a missionary
farewell Sunday morning - I JUST LOVE IT WHEN SHE COMES LIKE THAT!!!
After church yesterday I wanted to go to Brigham City to put flowers on my
mother's grave so she said she would go with me - since Christopher is buried
there also we called to see if a Weinert would like to go with us and Sarah
said she would. THAT WAS SPECIAL FOR ME. I took advantage of my
opportunity and gave them a "genealogy tour" and took pictures of
them in front of the two homes I lived in when I was growing up. My
father built the first home I lived in and it is in such good condition and
the houses across the street are just the same as they were over fifty years
ago. NOW I want to give the "Lehi Genealogy Tour" to the
members of my family who have never been on it - Ha!!! Bob told me he
had never seen my Grandparent's home in Lehi.
This has been such a fun week for
me. Claire invited me to go to her homemaking meeting at Relief Society
after we went to Brett's soccer game - he is such a good player and they won
their game - they play in such a beautiful place and I enjoy the mountains SO
much after being away from them for so long. I was VERY impressed with
Claire as she taught a quilting class - she taught them how to make quilted
pin cushions to give as gifts and they were darling. She had foot
surgery several days after giving her lesson so I know she was in pain.
Cissy and Charles' Beyers had a
grandson get married and his reception was going to be in Layton so they
called me from Hot Springs several weeks ago and said they would call me when
they got here. Cissy made several calls and the first time she said the
reception was going to be Saturday night - the next time she said it would be
on Friday night. I never did hear from them when they got to Utah but I
decided I should go to the reception so I talked Jeannie into going with me on
Friday night. It was a hard night for her - she had to change her
schedule and miss things but she came for me about 8 o'clock and when we got
to the reception place we discovered we had the wrong night - it was on
Saturday night. THANK YOU SO MUCH JEANNIE!!!
Dianne came to Utah and we met in
Salt Lake Friday afternoon - I went to the temple with my Relief Society
Sisters that morning. We had lunch in the Garden Room of the Joseph
Smith Memorial Building - I LOVE their Cobb salads. Dianne and I always
have so much fun when we get together so it was a fun day - people think she
is my daughter and she could be. We shopped and then went to See's for
vanilla nut fudge - Ha!!!
Saturday I went to the Beyers'
grandsons' wedding reception at 6:30 in Layton and then drove to Orem to go to
Jae Theobald's reception. It was fun to see Cissy and Charles and also
Shawna, Rex and Steve and his new wife. The grandson who was married is
Shawna and Rexs' oldest son and he married a girl from Bountiful - a darling
couple. His name is Rex Jr. and he plans to try to get into law school
in Little Rock. Steve's new wife is a darling woman but I think that is
a sad situation - he and his wife of many years divorced and they had five
children. You can tell this is for my journal can't you???
I LOVED going to be with John and
Julianna to go to the Theobald reception. I had called and told them to
wait for me and when I got there, they had dinner ready for me. John had
grilled some chicken breasts and that impressed me because they are good for
you that way but he has always wanted them fried. Julianna had fixed
delicious yellow squash and fresh fruit - she is such a good influence on
John's diet!!! I JUST LOVE THEIR HOME!!! You won't believe what an
improvement they have made in their kitchen den area - it is so much more
livable. John has helped a lot with the electrical work and they have
recessed lights, beautiful cabinet tops and a fabulous convection BIG oven.
It was fun to see some of my old Orem friends and Jae has a cute wife - Jae
used to help me a lot in the yard - he is a very capable young man.
THE BIG NEWS IS THAT MOKI AND TAR
ARE "EXPECTING". I didn't know that until yesterday when Bob
asked about them. I can't imagine anything more fun than having new
little puppies and I hope you will let me know when they are born.
I LOVE BEING YOUR MOTHER - I AM SO
VERY PROUD OF ALL OF YOU AND APPRECIATE SO VERY MUCH ALL YOU DO FOR ME.
PLEASE BE SO VERY, VERY CAREFUL IN EVERYTHING YOU
DO. Grandma B
