Weekly Report February 8, 1999

Dearest Family,           Sunday - February 8, 1999 - 9:00 p.m.

John just left to go home and it will take him over an hour - I appreciate SO much having him drive up to help me with my finances.  I thanked him for helping me and he said I can help you IF you can live on a budget - JUST LIKE HIS DAD - Ha!!!  Bob came over too and it gives me such a lot of security knowing they are aware of "things" and will advise me.  John amazes me with his knowledge of the stock market - he is very careful though!!!  I was looking forward to having Julianna come too but she was busy and I can understand that when she works all week and only has the weekends to "catch up".    I am proud of you Julianna - she has just been called to be the MIA advisor in the Young Women's Auxiliary of their ward.  The young women that age are lucky to have you!!!

Rick, Jean, Barji, Mary Ann and Sarah all came over with two BIG Marie Callender pies - a German Chocolate pie and a Lemon Chiffon pie - SO WE HAD A PARTY!!!  It makes my Sundays so much fun when my family comes like that.  Katie had come with Bob - she had gone to the hospital with him and I guess the patient he had to check on was "quite gross" according to her description.  This was the first time Barji had seen my condo and she LOVES it.  She came home from Utah State to do some laundry and catch up on some sleep - she said their dance performances are going well.  A lady from my ward went to see it on Friday night and she thought it was just wonderful.  Jesse is dancing also and Barji says she is just great.

Roy - I had a LONG conversation with Barbara Andrews one day not long ago.  She told me that she had requested for you to be her anesthesiologist when she had her heart surgery but you were out of town.  She was so pleased that you visited her as soon as you got back to the hospital.  She is doing good now but I guess she really had a scare.  I will be SO happy when the Roy Mellors cam come to see us!!!

Bob, Rick, Jeannie and I really have a memory with the furniture in my den.  I wanted so much for the "Pit Group" to go in there because it seats so many people.  When the movers moved the furniture they tried SO hard to get it through the door but it just wouldn't go in.  Most of the family suggested that I give it to D.I. but Bob prevailed and had them leave it in the garage.  Last Tuesday he appeared with his saw and his tool box and he took one of the large pieces completely apart - he sawed through four boards and finally got it to bend.  He called Rick and Rick and Jeannie came over and they got it in the den.  THEN, they decided to try the next big piece a different way - they just took one of the end pieces off.  I will never forget the expressions on the faces of Bob and Rick as they struggled to get those big pieces up the stairs.  They couldn't do it without hitting the chandelier and I fully expected it to fall any minute.  Bob came to the condo about 3:30 in the afternoon and by 10:30 p.m. he and Rick had it all assembled and put back together in the den.  I STILL CAN'T BELIEVE IT!!!  I don't know if they think it was worth it but I do.

Bob came over again on Friday and put in a new sink faucet in the kitchen.  The old one was very difficult to turn on - it was just old and worn out.  Bob brought Brett with him and it thrills me to see how they work together - Brett knows the names of all the tools and is a REAL help.  I have seen how hard Michael can work but I haven't been around Brett that much.  Brett greased the garage door opener for me too - he used his bare hands to scoop up the grease and put it all along the sliding places and the chains - I AM PROUD OF HIM!!!

I am still unpacking - I will probably be doing that for the rest of my life.  The Relief Society sisters have been to visit me as well as other friends so I have had a few interruptions.  My visiting teachers brought me lunch one day and the President came another day.  I am quite "unique" in that I have just returned from a mission at my age I guess.

I am connected up to cable television now so I can keep aware of what is going on in the world - what do you all think the outcome will be of the impeachment trial?  My neighbor invited me to go to Park City with her this week - she has a condominium up there.  I need to get more unpacking done before I take off for a weekend like that but it will be fun to go another time.  I am very contented to just stay home - I L0VE MY CONDO!!!  I am also glad to have a permanent address.  Bob and John have both brought me letters from my Thai friends - I had given them their addresses.  One of my friends, Lamchuan, is coming to visit in April.  She will go to California to visit her Father and Brother and then come to Utah - I am excited.  She is an excellent cook so hopefully I will be able to have you all come for some Thai food.

John reported on the Woolleys and said they are doing good.  I miss the Family Home Evenings I had with them for so many years on Sunday evenings - I guess I can't have everything but I LOVED those times!!!

I LOVE YOU ALL SO VERY, VERY MUCH.  PLEASE BE SO VERY, VERY CAREFUL.  Grandma B
