Thailand Letter

Dearest Family, November 8, 1998 Sunday 6:15 p.m.

We just came home from Lopburi and I was disappointed when I came to the computer because there was a "warning" that my letter of yesterday, November 7, (I had mistakenly put December) was not mailed to all of you. I think I have figured out that it was not sent to Roy and the message said it would be resent for five days so I won't worry about it until it says it wasn't sent at all. It said that the address had a "fatal error". Did the rest of you receive it - it was about the pictures of the condo that Bob and Claire had sent and other news?

CLAIRE - THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR LETTER AND THE PICTURE OF YOUR FIRST SNOW!!! Your snow blower looked big - I remember those slushy snows and they were a pain because I would get you all dressed to go outside and in a few minutes you were all wet. I would love some snow - slushy or powder!!!

JEANNIE - THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR LETTER TOO. I am happy that you keep in touch with Ellen Mae - tell her I understand all about computer problems. I am anxious to meet her friend who will live in the condo complex. I am REALLY looking forward to going to the dance programs at Utah State - the Glen Miller and otherwise. Did I understand that you didn't have a member of your family in the Nutcracker this year - I DON'T BELIEVE IT - HA!!!

Our trip to Lopburi got all mixed up. Right after I wrote my letter to you one of our teachers called and said they would be here at noon to pick us up and take us and spend the weekend and then bring us back home today. The bus trip is very peaceful and comfortable and we would much prefer that but we couldn't tell the teachers NO!!! It took us so much longer to get there yesterday and the driver leaves much to be desired but we made it. Our class was good and the church members who attend seem SO happy to see us and welcome us wholeheartedly. Nurack's mother even came and she is 84!!! We had dinner with her afterwards at Nurack's sister's store and then we went to their home to spend the night. We always enjoy being there and the breakfast they served this morning was very unusual but delicious. Myrth has told everyone she is vegetarian so Nurack went someplace early this morning to get special food for us - I WOULD NEVER HAVE TOLD ANYONE THAT!!! We had soybean pork, other soybean meats, sprout and noodle soup and all kinds of fruit - kinda' reminded me of Little Rock when we tried to make so many things from soybeans.

We are hoping our evening will be calm. The phone has rung several times and we haven't answered it - WE DON'T WANT COMPANY!!! I have written a family and friends' letter and I am hoping to get it signed so I can mail it this week. I know I won't be home in time to mail Christmas cards so I want to send these from Thailand. Did I tell you that all the volunteer teachers are going to a place in Thailand to see an elephant show - Seren, I think. We will leave this Friday and come home on Sunday. This is going to be our Thanksgiving party!!!

Please let me know if you didn't get my letter of Nov. 7th (it says Dec.)- and Roy, is there something wrong with your computer?

I LOVE YOU ALL SO VERY, VERY MUCH. PLEASE BE SO VERY, VERY CAREFUL. Grandma B
