Thailand Letter

Dearest Family, September 16, 1998 Wednesday 7:35 a.m.

I don't have time to write a real letter but I wanted to tell you that I am being honored beyond belief and not deserving it - every school is taking us out to dinner and giving us gifts (not expensive but from their hearts). We really wish they would use the money they are spending on us to use in their schools. Sometimes I think they are using us as an excuse to do "FUN" things - Ha!!!

BOB - Thank you so much for your letters - I appreciate them so very much.  I'm proud that Brett is getting so far along in his scouting - I have taken  a lot of pictures of the scouting program here in Bangkok - IT IS WONDERFUL!!! I'm glad that you received my letter about the humanitarian service being done here in Thailand - I copied your letter and will share it with Nut and others. I wish you had a "jillion" dollars too because you have the type of love people need BUT you are doing as much humanitarian service as you could possibly do right where you are!!!

MARY ANN - I LOVED your letter - you sound like a "real go-getter" and that makes me very happy. You are one talented young woman and I'm thrilled that you are willing to share your talents with others - it is no wonder that you have so many friends!!!

Let's don't worry about the time schedule for the condo - I would appreciate it if you could find me a VERY SMALL apartment to kinda' unwind in when I get home and we will go from there. It would be very difficult for me to move in with any of you even for such a short time just before Christmas - YOU ALL KNOW ME BETTER THAN THAT!!! Right now I feel like I could just sleep for a month or so after I get home.

I wish you and John would consider staying with me when you come. I think there will be an extra bedroom and I'm sure I could borrow some mattresses or cots or something for you to use - it wouldn't be the "Marriott" or the "Chateau De Bangkok" but it might be fun for you to see how people REALLY live here - Ha!!!

I LOVE YOU ALL SO VERY, VERY MUCH AND I WISH YOU COULD BE ENJOYING ALL THE HONOR THAT IS BEING GIVEN TO ME - I want to be a "cipher in the snow" when I get home. PLEASE BE SO VERY, VERY CAREFUL. Grandma Bxxxooo
