Thailand Letter

Dearest Family, July 30, 1998

Ann, Jean, Jessie and Barji have written many messages so I guess I thought you were all hearing from us. When your letter came today Bob - I realized that you weren't hearing from any of us!!!

We are having a WONDERFUL time and it is going to be hard for me when they leave. I remember Bob saying “Ann & Jean would be coming soon” when he had to leave and that made it easier for me.

They got here on Sunday afternoon and I had a hard time “connecting” with them - they kept sending me to different terminals - they were flying on Singapore Airlines. We were probably delayed about 45 minutes and I guess that isn't too bad.

I could write an entire book telling about my experiences with taxi cab drivers. My roommates are all asleep so I will save that until sometime later - I know the computer keeps Darlene awake!!!

I had invited my wonderful friends from Lopburi to have spaghetti with us tonight and it was kind of a fiasco. They got stuck in traffic and some of them arrived an hour late and the others about two hours late - my roommates straggled in - my pasta and French breads were ready and waiting for at least two hours. Jeannie helped me while Ann & Jessie “ran” to Gulati's for dress fittings. WELL - right after Winada (Nurack's wife) came, Ann went into my bedroom to go to sleep - she is completely worn out!!! She finally went to their hotel room and was sound asleep within minutes.

I'll tell you all about everything later - I can't keep my roommates awake any longer. We are going on the floating market tour in the morning - I hope Ann is feeling well enough to go!!!

Thanks for your message John and to everyone else too - it is WONDERFUL for you to write!!!

I LOVE YOU ALL SO VERY, VERY MUCH. PLEASE BE SO VERY, VERY CAREFUL. Grandma B
