Dearest Family, July 10, 1998

Just a quick note to thank MICHAEL for taking such excellent pictures while he was at the cabin. I LOVED THEM and they make the cabin look much nicer than it really is - the sky looks so blue and it matches the blue paint and the lake is so beautiful and clear - we see a lot of very dirty khlongs all the time. The one of Michael fishing off the dock, the one of the cabin kitchen, the one of him in the upstairs room - what thoughtful places to think to take pictures!!! The picture in the front with Michael's car in front (I guess that is Michael's car) looks like a beautiful home - I showed that to my roommates and they said, “We thought you said your cabin wasn't very nice”. It looks like a palace compared to many of the places where people live here. THANK YOU VERY MUCH MICHAEL!!!

I am happy that Byrd would take you trolling on the lake Michael - did you go in his houseboat? I feel very badly that Chris and Wayne didn't contact any of you to get a key to go in and stay in the cabin. I had written to them and said we wanted them to use it whenever they wanted and Chris wrote back and said they were going to a family reunion in Oregon and they would not be going to Utah - I guess they changed their minds. They love to be independent though and they could stay in their camper right by the cabin and use the bowery and restrooms there. John also talked to them and invited them to stay with Julianna and him.

I think Carolyn and her husband and family are very unselfish people to adopt another child - I admire them!!! That is something I could not have done.

Ann and Jean - are you interested in going on a tour to “The Bridge On The River Kwai”? It is quite far away but they have nice tours and I would love to go with you if you want to go - I will need to make reservations for that and also the floating market tour so I need to know your schedule. I will go over to the hotel this afternoon when I get home from school to see if they have your reservations and maybe they can tell me when you are coming.

I HOPE MY UTAH FAMILY WILL HAVE A WONDERFUL TIME AT LAKE POWELL - I HOPE THE ROYS HAVE A WONDERFUL TIME JUST ENJOYING THE THINGS THEY DO LIKE SPORTS, GARDENING, ETC. ETC.
