Thailand Letter

Dearest Family, March 31, 1998

I was SO thrilled to hear from you today Ann - I haven't heard for quite awhile. I REALLY had problems downloading your letter - it was here yesterday, Friday, morning along with 7 other letters for others here. When I got “Connecting to the Mail Server” it would show your letter but wouldn't download anything. We were finally able to get all of them this morning. We have had problems with the telephone and maybe that was it. When your letter came on the screen it said it was “38” pages long which it wasn't - it was only 2 - so I don't know what the problem was!!! Our home teacher, Bro. Brown, came last night and he is a 'Big Wig” with Texaco here so we had him work on the “Word Perfect” part of the computer and he fixed a lot of that. My roommates put their journals on word perfect but it wasn't over loaded so it remains a mystery - we can't access it at all. He said someone has pushed the wrong buttons and we have to add a DDL program again or something. Janet's brother in law worked with it some so maybe that is the problem.

CONGRATULATIONS JESSIE - your cheer squad making 11th in the Nation in their competition is FABULOUS - I am SO PROUD OF YOU!!! I didn't get all your letter telling me about that Ann - just part of the very first paragraph.

I feel SO bad about Stephanie's death. I think prescription drugs are so very dangerous - how do people get them? You can get most anything here in Thailand and I am grateful that I NEVER take anything except Tylenol and that very seldom.

Ann - two of the most important women I work with here in the teaching program are coming to the MTC in Provo. Lek - the woman who has taken us on all our trips is one of them. Suppatra - the other one is a teacher in the district where I live (not where I work). They are leaving this next Wednesday, April 1, and will be in America for a month - part of the time in California.

May I give them your telephone number and if possible could you have them come for lunch or something? Suppatra is coming to our apartment on Monday so I need to have you answer before then. You would just LOVE Lek - she is the Governor's right hand woman. I will tell you more about it after I hear from you.

I don't have time to write anymore. I have to go to the train station in about 15 minutes - we will go to Lopburi until tomorrow (Sunday) night.

I LOVE YOU ALL SO VERY, VERY MUCH. PLEASE BE SO VERY, VERY CAREFUL. Grandma B
