Thailand Letter
Dearest Family, March 20, 1998
Just a note to thank JIMMY AND BOB for your letters - I appreciate them so very much!!! I should also mention that I received a letter from Ron just before I left for Southern Thailand but I don't believe it was for me - I believe it was for Claire. I laughed because he said he would have to put Bob's new digital camera on top of the refrigerator unless he sent one picture at a time - Ha!!!
Jimmy - I LOVED YOUR LETTER - it was sent while I was sending my last letter to you guys - that makes my family seem so close!!! It sounds like you are having lots of fun in school and in everything else you are doing - I'm proud of you!!
Bob & Claire - I sent you an envelope this afternoon with a magazine about the Sumai Island. I couldn't find a good heavy envelope so I hope it gets to you in one piece. One of the men on our trip is a school teacher and a personal friend of Lek and he is also a tour guide. I told him that you might be interested in going to an island for scuba diving - he asked for your address and would you believe I didn't have it with me so I gave him your e-mail address. Lek told me that she would help you if you decided you wanted to go to an island. I have heard there is an island closer to Bangkok too that might be good for scuba diving. I will continue to look into those things.
A lady at the Branch of our Church gave me a piece of Thai silk for Christmas. It is a bright blue and I gave it to a dressmaker friend of the other roommates in this apartment - I gave it to her over a month ago. She brought the suit she made from it to me today and I just love it - I had almost forgotten I had given it to her. I also had another piece of Thai silk that was given to me by some students I teach and she made me a blouse from that piece. I have never seen such beautiful sewing - she is the best I have seen and they fit like a glove.
THANKS AGAIN FOR WRITING TO ME!!! I love you all so very, very much. Grandma B
