Dearest John & Julianna; Roy, Patrice, Emily, Timothy & Jesse; Bob, Claire, Michael, Laura, Brett & Katie; Rick, Jean, Ricky, Barbara Jean, Mary Ann & Sarah; Ron, Ann, Susanna, Jessie, Russell, Lee Anna & Jimmy:

I'm going to hurry and write a short letter. I have been out weeding on the hill all day and only have a few minutes to write and get this in today's mail. The weather forecast was for good weather this morning and stormy in the afternoon so I decided to weed and then write my letter when it started to rain - as it turned out, it has been quite nice all day. It is so easy to weed because we have had a lot of rain and the weeds just come right out.

The big news for this letter is that Jill has awakened from her coma. I heard from Ramona on Friday night that she had awakened and wanted to talk but she had tubes in her mouth so they had to get the doctor before they wanted her to say anything. I haven't heard anything since then but I'm sure that is good news because they were happy when she could just show any signs of life.

I hope you are all doing really good. It was good to talk to you last night Claire. I am looking forward to being in Layton and with the children - they really don't need caring for but I will be there in case they decide they do. Ann & Jean and I have been trying to get together for lunch so Ann is going to drive to Layton on Friday and we will have lunch together. We usually meet in Salt Lake so this will just be a little further for Ann to drive and she said she didn't mind.

II have talked to John several times this week and they are doing good. Julianna has quite a project going - she is painting the woodwork in their home. She is very good at that but I'm not so I envy her. Ann is doing some painting in their home too - she has taken the wallpaper off the upstairs bathroom walls and will paint them - she says the steam in the bathrooms is too hard on wallpaper,.

JESSIE WAS IN THE PROM ROYALTY AT TIMPVIEW - CONGRATULATIONS JESSIE!!! I went to their assembly where they announced it and she looked SO beautiful. She wore a gorgeous lavender formal with long white gloves. I was never as thin as she is - not even when I was first born. I wanted to go to the Courthouse in Provo on Saturday night to see the royalty promenade down the stairs in the front but I couldn't leave the temple in time. I remember so well when John was in the royalty in Billings for his prom - I stayed in Billings and Daddy went to Great Falls for a zone conference. I took a bus up later to meet him. THAT WAS A BIG NIGHT FOR JOHN!!! I don't know how Jessie keeps up with everything she does - before they announced the royalty, Jessie was with the cheerleaders doing their routine. I am constantly amazed at the abilities of the young people today - the cheerleaders and dance teams when I was in High School were nothing compared to those of today.

I took Ramona and Lucile (from Lehi) to the temple on Friday. We had a good time but we kept losing Ramona. I know that part of her problem is that she doesn't hear very well and when I tell her where to meet us she probably doesn't hear. Lucile is 87 and has been a widow for 30 years, Ramona is 83 and has been a widow for 5 years but there is a world of difference in their abilities. I can't help but wonder what I will be like in 15 years - I hope someone will take me to the temple and not lose me - Ha!!!

This is going to be a funny, funny letter. First of all - I won't be able to get it in to today's mail and I'm too lazy to re-write it. Ann just called and said she had talked to Jean and found that Jean is working on Friday so we won't be able to get together for lunch so Ann isn't going to Layton - we will plan a time in May.

Dianne is in Utah and we are going to Thanksgiving Point tomorrow for lunch and to spend some time together. Garry has business in Snowbird so they are there today and Dianne will come here tomorrow. She is going to spend Wednesday with her daughter in law and they will make some curtains for Brick and Laura's nursery - Dianne brought her sewing machine from California. She isn't in very good health but she surely accomplishes a lot. They are going to redecorate their condo here.

I had a funny experience today. I ordered some "Kara" truffles to benefit the Orem Elementary PTA and I paid for them at least two months ago. It occurred to me last night that I never did get them so I called the school this morning. They asked me who I had ordered them from and when they got in touch with this student she said she would come by and see me today after school. In the meantime I had a phone call from her mother saying they would have the candy to me by 5 o'clock. When the little girl brought them she said she had brought them before - I didn't ever get them. I forget a lot of things but I KNOW I would remember two boxes of candy. I feel kinda' bad because I'm sure she will get in trouble at school and I surely didn't need truffles. They had to go to the store to get them because it had been so long.

Do any of you remember Eric Gonce? I had a wedding announcement from him. He was married when he was about 17 years old - he hadn't even finished high school. They had a little boy and then divorced. He is marrying again and I'm very happy for him. I understand he has finished his schooling and also some college. I know that Laura and Dave will be happy to get him settled. They still live in Las Vegas.

Jamie Garrett is also getting married. I haven't heard from Chris and Wayne for quite awhile - they have been in Arkansas visiting his Mom. I just heard on the television that the ice is almost gone at Scofield and the fishing is good. I want SO much to drive up there but I am afraid to go by myself until others get there and the last time I talked to Byrd he said it would be at least May. They have had more snow than ever before so maybe our cabin is in the lake. John, Rick or Ron - if any of you can go I wish you would and get it ready. I don't believe Bob will have time to go there for awhile.

I had such a fun week last week. I went to a Book Review and had strawberry shortcake, then to a baby shower and had more strawberry shortcake, then to my luncheon club luncheon and had a "wrapple" (an apple wrapped in pastry and then deep fried) and then to lunch at the temple and had pecan pie. Whatever happened to my diet???

I was SO glad the Woolleys could come over last night - Ron couldn't come because he was traveling but the rest of the family came. The girls had to leave early so they could go clean Ron's office. They tried the argument that it would be breaking the Sabbath but Ann gave them the choice of doing it last night or getting up at 5 a.m. this morning - so they went last night.

I can't think of anymore news. I love each one of you so very much - PLEASE BE VERY CAREFUL IN EVERYTHING YOU DO!!! Let me know how I can help you.

THE BOB AND ROY MELLOR FAMILIES - GO TO "MEXICAN CHIQUITO" FOR ME!!!
