We are having a beautiful Sunny Day for a change!!! It is supposed to get up around 70 degrees before the week is over and that is a good sign because maybe some of the snow in the mountains will start to melt and a flood will be avoided. It is unusual for me to want the Winter to end but we have had ENOUGH - Ha!!! I am anxious to trim my dogs and clean out their dog houses - my garage smells like a pig pen.
I have been on the phone with Carol Ann for the last hour. I am trying to find a date for the Mellor Family Reunion. SO THE BIG NEWS FOR THIS LETTER IS FOR YOU TO CIRCLE THE DATE OF JUN 21ST FOR OUR FAMILY REUNION. I had wanted to have it at the Mellor Catering place in Lehi but they are all booked up for June. When the Woolleys were over last night we discussed a possible place to have it and how to handle the food. They suggested we have it at the Rock Canyon Park and the more I thought about it the more I thought that was the best place - I originally thought we could have it in my backyard. SO I HAVE RESERVED A PAVILLION AT THE ROCK CANYON PARK (one with 14 tables) for JUNE 21ST - FROM 4 P.M. 'TIL 10 P.M. Carol Ann said that her boys will be preparing for their dental boards during the month of June so they won't be able to come but the rest of them will be there. We'll see!!!
The Woolleys felt like it would be best to have it potluck but the more I thought about it I decided that since I was doing most of the planning I would do it "MY WAY". I called the Mellor Catering this morning and I have reserved for them to cater it and they will send me a menu. Lisa Mellor suggested a "Taco Bar" that she said was very popular with the young people I believe it will cost about $6 per person - HOW DOES THAT SOUND TO YOU??? I told Lisa we would want it served at 5 o'clock. It will be good to have it close to the Woolley's home because I will be able to get ice cream and the trimmings for banana splits that we can have later in the evening.
Carol Ann suggested that everyone should bring an up-to-date list of their own family's genealogy so we could make a "Cousins' Directory". She also suggested that each family should be represented by someone to make some kind of presentation concerning genealogy - Bob, I believe you are elected unanimously!!! I will make "flyers" and send to the head of each family; Ramona, Carol, Shirley, Elaine, Nancy, Paula and of course, Carol Ann. I will ask them to send me their reservations along with their money by June 1st. I will also put on the flyer that if the cost is prohibitive for any of them to let me know because we have "funds".
I talked to Roy on Saturday and he said the 21st would be good for their family. They have vacation from June 15 - June 29 and want to include Utah in their itinerary. I am SO proud of them because they are going to drive so they can make it a learning vacation and see the sights along the way. You all remember how we used to do that at least once a year and most of the time twice - I have to admit I got really sick and tired of Oklahoma!!! They are going to Gulf Shores, Alabama this month - the 14th through the 21st. I was hoping Chris & Wayne would be there but they called me the other day and said they were going to go back to Arkansas and I believe they were leaving about the 10th. I didn't tell them Roy & Patrice were coming - maybe I should have. They are like gypsies - they spend a month in Alabama and then a month in Arkansas. Chris said Wayne's Mother isn't doing very well and Wayne felt like he needed to go check on her - she is in her nineties and in a resthome near their Arkansas home. They are REALLY looking forward to coming to Utah and spending time at Scofield - they are coming in August.
I was thrilled to read our newspaper yesterday and see that the full first page of the business section was devoted to Viewpoint. They had pictures of the different models that had been used in various things - I had no idea they had that much to do with so many businesses. I AM PROUD OF THEM. I was telling Ron last night that I remember visiting their offices when they only had about 7 employees. John was in Ottawa, Canada last week - he said he had meetings with some of the people from Corel. He said it was REALLY cold and he was glad to get home. I believe he was in Colorado the week before. It is fun to hear how Julianna has "mellowed" and is letting little Tar stay in the house while John is gone - I will never mellow that much!!! John says the dogs stay in their kennels most of the time now except when he takes them for exercises. He said they would ruin their yard if they let them out on it all the time.
I hope the Bob Mellors have had a WONDERFUL time at Disneyworld. That is such a magical place. I can just see little Katie running all over and wanting to do EVERYTHING. The Sondrup man who is a patient of yours Bob is a brother of Kevin Sondrup. Kevin is a lot different from his brothers. That is the main reason Barbara REALLY put her foot down about not living in Sanpete County.
Ricky - how was your tennis tournament in St. George this weekend? I get tired just hearing about all the activities my grandchildren are in but I'M PROUD OF YOU. I hope you will let me know if there are any tournaments I could come see you play in.
When we were discussing the reunion last night Jessie told me she wouldn't be able to come on the 21st because she would be coming home from New York that day. I didn't even ask her what she is going to New York for - dumb me!!! It is just commonplace anymore for all of you to be traveling all over the place. Jessie was in charge of the lesson last night and she had saved a list of "services" we had each made over a year ago - we checked up on ourselves to see if we had done things for other people like we said we would. IT WAS GOOD. Ann was in charge of their Young Men and Young Women lessons yesterday in their ward conference and she told about the things they had done. She laughed as she told about how the members of the Bishopric were very concerned that it wouldn't work but it did and she was happy about it and Ron couldn't say enough nice things about it.
Do you all remember the Orem Women's Club annual luncheon that I have had you involved in for the last few years??? It is going to be in April this year but I decided to not get tickets for all of you. I was disappointed in it last year and the same lady is in charge this year. She has decided to not have a store present the Fashion Show - instead they are going to present different ways of "sprucing up" your own individual wardrobes. It sounds to me too much like a glamorous Relief Society Home Making Meeting. I hope I won't feel bad about not inviting you to it this year but I know you have come to please me and I couldn't ask you to do that again. I didn't even think the food was good last year.
