Thailand Letter

Dearest Family,
You are going to think I don't have anything to do but write messages on the computer!!! It is SO easy to answer your letters when I first get them and then I don't have to remember the things to write about.
Jeannie - I LOVED YOUR LETTER. Virginia found it on the computer this morning and just as I was reading it, our driver came so I couldn't finish it. I have thought about Patti all day and wondered if your letter would say her son had turned his life around - THAT IS GREAT!!! I am thrilled for them and I'm glad you are going to be a support and go to the wedding in the temple. While I am thinking about it, I will tell you that Chris Jordin flew to Salt Lake this week and then was going to drive to Idaho Falls and go through the temple for the first time in her life. She told me quite awhile ago but she didn't want me to tell anyone - her sisters planned to meet her there and go with her. She is going to have Marc's work done - I thought their friend in Bountiful had stood as proxy for him last year but I guess I was wrong - one of his cousins is going to stand in for him. This is a BIG milestone for Chris!!!
SARAH - CONGRATULATIONS!!! Sarah made the part in the Nutcracker that she wanted that will be put on by Ballet West - she will be a party girl. I am SO thrilled for you and I am sad that I won't be able to see it - I HAVE LOVED SEEING YOU, BARJI AND MARY ANN PERFORM IN THE NUTCRACKER - that has started the Christmas season for me. THEY DON'T CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS HERE!!! I am sorry that you will have to have "mouth surgery" but it is just wonderful that you will have that done. Our Branch President's wife here has two top teeth that protrude from her mouth - like a second set of teeth. She would be SO pretty if she had had her teeth fixed when she was your age. As I remember it - your threshold for pain is very, very low - Ha!!! I know things will go well & I'll be thinking of you.
Barji - I'm SO happy your D'Ette routine turned out good. What a wonderful experience for you. How is Boyd???
Ricky - I can't believe a hurricane on the golf course!!! What did you mean?
Mary Ann - you must have very good coordination to be such a good volleyball player - I'm proud of you. I'll bet it was fun working in the concession booth.
This jewelry thing for Ellen Mae. I will do what I can but I'm not going to just buy anything. The teachers at school today asked how they could help us and I said, "You could take me to find some good jewelry". They said they would like to take us someplace out of this province - that is against mission rules so I am out of luck. I'll just have to wait and see what happens.
Jessie - you were playing powder puff football - not flag football. I read your messages and then answer them without re-reading them. Sorry - I know it would be fun to be involved like you are even with powder puff football.
Bob - where is your new Stake President from? There were a lot of Botts in Brigham City and they lived up East where my folks lived.
Our new school today was such a lot of fun!!! They presented us with beautiful fresh rose corsages and gave us the royal treatment all day long and then when we left this afternoon the Principal came with a basket filled with all kinds of "goodies" and told us to bring it back tomorrow so she could fill it again. It had "soy milk" in it and three big bags of cookies and they are delicious. I have never tasted soy milk before and it is good. There was only one teacher who could speak English - that seems to be the pattern - one among about 15. Virginia taught her famous "Brown Bear, Brown Bear, Who Do You See" book and they each one made one and they loved it. I taught with object pictures again and had them make sentences using different verbs - they did pretty good.
I said I would sleep good last night. We both slept too good. We had a terrific rainstorm - we heard it thundering and lightning but we didn't get up and our vacant bedroom window was open and a box of books got wet along with a lot of other things. I am going to spend the rest of today cleaning up.
Thanks SO much for writing and Rick - have fun on your birthday as you go on your business fishing trip.
I LOVE YOU ALL SO VERY MUCH. PLEASE BE VERY, VERY CAREFUL. Grandma B
