HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO EVERYONE!!! I wish we could ALL be together but I am very thankful that at least part of our family will be together at the Woolley's Home.
Claire - I was SO thrilled to come to the computer this morning and find your long letter. Usually I just have short E-Mail messages. Your trip to Florida sounded kinda' hectic (the traveling part) and I know you are glad to be home and on an easier schedule. I did a VERY DUMB thing when I came to the computer. I got on the internet and found your message but before I disconnected it the doorbell rang and I found a neighbor who came to visit for awhile - I completely forgot about it and visited for over an hour. I am usually so careful to not use up the internet time but I REALLY goofed this morning.
Bob, Claire and Jeannie went to Florida last Tuesday and came home yesterday very early in the morning in time for church. Actually Jeannie came home on Friday so she could be here for Sarah's performance in the "Nutcracker". They went for a special allergy conference and the dietary part of it was mostly on Thursday so after that was over Jeannie came home. I think it's wonderful they were able to attend and improve their professional skills. I feel bad that I didn't offer to care for the children but I didn't know Claire was going - I have myself so "over programmed" but I could have managed if I had known in time.
Patrice - thank you for your phone message and Emily - thank you for your sweet note. I think about you guys all the time and I am SO happy to have my pictures to remind me of your beautiful home and the wonderful time I had with you. I wish I could read "The Wizard of Oz" to Timothy and Jesse again - is that available on video? I am pretty sure I can get it here at the library so you can probably get it in your library. I can still hear little Jesse say, "The tin man was all rusty so he had to have oil put on him".
I had such a fun time on Friday. Timpview High School was in the football championship game that was played in Ogden at Weber State University and I wanted so much to go to it mainly to see Susanna and Jessie in their cheerleading outfits doing "their thing". They were just darling and under such adverse circumstances - it was a very rainy and windy day. The dance team did their routines on the football field in a sea of mud and the cheerleaders were wet and had to wear their special "sweats" but I thoroughly enjoyed it. I sat with Ann, Ron, Lee Anna, Jimmy, Russell and his friend under a plastic tent and we had popcorn and hot chocolate. I LOVED IT!!! After the game we all went to Hardee's for hamburgers, French fries and drinks.
Sarah - you were a "PERFECT CANDY CANE" in the Nutcracker and I was SO proud of you!!! Everything worked out just like it was planned that way. The Nutcracker performance was in the "Browning Fine Art's Center" on the Weber State University Campus - it started at 7:30 p.m. and we were finished at Hardee's about 7. Ann and Jimmy wanted to go to the Nutcracker too so Ron took Russell and his friend, Lee Anna and her friend back to Provo and we went to see Sarah. I JUST LOVE CLYTIE ADAM'S NUTCRACKER!!! This is the second year I have been to see it and I really enjoy it more than the one at the Capitol Theatre - I can see the performers better. Ann and Jimmy had to get their tickets at the door because Jeannie didn't know for sure they were going to be able to come - they ended up in the balcony and they liked that and kept trying to signal to Sarah with their special watches while she danced - Ha!!! We didn't get home until after midnight and I was SO glad Ann and Jimmy were with me. Ann did the driving and I felt bad when I thought about it because she works TOO hard and has dark circles under her eyes and I should have had her resting. I am always SO impressed with the costumes for the performances. I forgot my camera so I am hoping Jeannie will give me a copy of some she took. It was fun to be with Rick, Mary Ann and Barji - Ricky "begged off" - Ha!!!
John came over for his mail on Saturday. He is busy building a work bench or something at his home. This is SO funny!!! I have been neighbors to Shawna and Mike Theobald for ten years and they are SO sweet to me and do many, many kind things for me but I can tell they don't think I'm very smart - Ha!!! Shawna came running over to visit with me one day last week and she was SO excited. She is a student at UVSC in the field of business and they had had someone from Viewpoint come to talk to them. She was absolutely aghast - she went up to this man afterwards and said "My neighbor works for Viewpoint" and when she found out John was a Vice President she was SO impressed. My children are my very greatest asset and I hope you know that!!!
Claire mentioned in her e-mail letter that Michael is volunteering at the hospital. That is a great thing to do Michael. Laura is going to be in a piano recital on December 6th - I hope I can go.
I went to two wedding receptions last week and they were very nice. I also went to my luncheon club on Thursday - we went to TGI Fridays and it was good - they have just opened up here. I also met David and Polly Taylor at the temple on Saturday to go through a session and that was special. David told me they have information about missions on the web page of the internet and he called me this morning to get my e-mail address - that could be really fun!!! I could just live at this computer and I have many days but
no one does my!!! housework
I am in charge of the funeral dinner for a family in our ward whose Father passed away. It will be on Wednesday - the day before Thanksgiving so I will spend that day at the church!!!
About Thanksgiving Day. Anyone who wants to come help me put up my outside Christmas lights and rake some leaves will be most welcome. I have discussed this with Ann and we decided to set the time for around 1 p.m. at my home but only if it doesn't rain and it is supposed to. I would love to have you come anyway and you could help me put up my inside Christmas tree but only if you want to. Ann made me promise that I wouldn't feed you - SHE WANTS YOU HUNGRY FOR HER DINNER!!
TIP FOR THE DAY: For those of you who use beans very often and not the canned kind, if you put one teaspoon of GINGER in with them while they are cooking it will reduce the gas. I love to make chili using my good
Anasazi beans and soak them overnight so this was good news for me.
