Dearest John & Julianna; Roy, Patrice, Emily, Timothy & Jesse; Bob, Claire, Michael, Laura, Brett & Katie; Rick, Jean, Ricky, Barbara Jean, Mary Ann & Sarah; Ron, Ann, Susanna, Jessie, Russell, Lee Anna & Jimmy:
I hope I don't have anymore DUMB problems with the computer like I had last week. I thought I had it all figured out when Bob left last Sunday night but when I came down to try to send and receive messages on Monday morning I just couldn't do it. I didn't want to bother John anymore so I called the internet technician. He really was very nice but he kept saying "I can't figure out what's going on". He had me change a lot of things but nothing seemed to help so I asked if I could have John call him and he said, "sure". I called John and he came over and there were many things wrong that I had changed - there was one single dot too many on the user name and that was a big factor. BUT the reason it got all fowled up in the first place was because I wasn't waiting for the little "duration clock" to come on which meant I wasn't connected. I haven't had any more problems since John got me all straightened out AGAIN.
I have been working like a mad woman on my hill. I have been determined to get all the iris bulbs dug out and plant something that is pretty but doesn't require much maintenance. I have filled my huge garbage can full twice and the trunk of my car once with just bulbs - I had no idea there would be that many. When Claire was over a week ago I asked her for suggestions to plant there. She said that she had seen the Woolleys' "St.
John's Wort" and liked it so she had planted some and it is doing well. NO
ONE SEEMED TO HAVE HEARD OF IT. John and Julianna came over on Saturday night and John asked me what I needed for him to find on the internet so I said, "Ground Cover - St. John's Wart". I had no idea that he would be able to find it BUT he did and there was so much information about it and other ground covers. He printed it for me IN COLOR and now it makes it much easier to try to visualize it and find it. It even gave the proper name for it. Ann is trying to find it for me through their landscaping man. What a marvelous new invention this computer is"""
John reminds me SO much of Daddy. When they came over on Saturday night they h ad been to "Pet's Mart" and had bought a dental device to clean the
plaque from Hans and Frauies' teeth. John worked on her mouth for the longest time - he pulled one tooth and found a big cancor sore in her gums. He wants to give them some kind of a sedative to make them more calm while he works on them. I wish I were more compassionate with dogs in that regard - I want to keep them well fed and watered and make sure they have all their shots and keep them warm in the Winter but as far as looking in their mouths I just can't do it. Daddy could "dock" their tails and birth their little puppies and John is like that. John should have been a "Vet". It is so much fun to have them come over - John knows this computer like the back of his hand. They had been to a "gun show" in Salt Lake earlier in the day.
I went to Timpview High School's Homecoming game on Friday night. It was a beautiful night and I loved seen Susanna do her cheerleading - I didn't know she could do back flips but she can. I love the atmosphere of football games and Timpview won so that was fun. Susanna and Jessie went to the Homecoming Dance on Saturday night. Ann, Ron, Susanna, Russell and Jimmy came over last night and it was so much fun to have Ann tell me about the girls' dresses. Ann does a fabulous job in getting all the accessories ready for them - she has good taste in things like that and they trust her so that makes it fun. I can't believe how elaborate the entertainment for the dances are now. Susanna and her group went in a motor home to the sand dunes in Southern Utah on Saturday afternoon - Susanna said the motor home was "really something" - A VCR, television, microwave, etc." There were eight in their group and they are all best friends and have been for a long time. This is a wonderful year for both Susanna & Jessie.
I was in a little skit for Orem Women's Club on Wednesday. I wore the robe Daddy got when he received his Ph.D and talked about the importance of education - I will introduce Pres. Romesburg from UVSC in our January meeting and he will tell about the progress of the college. I also went to several wedding receptions during the week. My neighbor was married and she wore a white pantsuit for her reception - unusual but very pretty and she is a beautiful young woman. Another friend's son married a young woman from Korea and her parents wore their traditional wedding apparel and they were gorgeous.
I was SO happy to receive your e-mail message last night Bob. I will meet the children at the airport on Sunday night - flight 249L - Delta at 8:05 p.m. It will be fun to be with them for a couple days. I will plan to leave your home on Wednesday when you call me from the airport saying you are on your way home. Please don't worry about them and have a good time. I am glad you plan to go to the cabin over conference weekend. I have the anti-freeze and the mouse bar bait in a box in my garage for you to take - John knows where it is and I hope he will be able to go help you.
Weinerts - I hope you have a wonderful time in Sun Valley over UEA vacation. I haven't heard from you but I hope to see you or at least talk to you while I am at the Bob Mellors.
Emily - thank you SO much for your e-mail message. I am tentatively planning to come to Little Rock on Jesse's birthday, Nov. 3rd. I am SO anxious to see all of you and I hope that will be a good time for you. I would like to see Chris and Wayne too - I don't know when they plan to be in Plainview but I will write to them.
I haven't learned how much space I have to write on but I don't want to start
a third page so I will close. I
