It is just a beautiful Fall day and time to look forward to Thanksgiving - I hope you will have a wonderful day on Thursday and I know I will be with some of you and that will be fun. It is always fun to be at the Woolleys' home and it is great they have such a large home and have invited everyone to be there.
I talked to Ann last night and when I heard about all the things they are going through I can't help but think it is an imposition for us to all be there but she insists that it is "just fine". Ron's mother, Bev, will have surgery on her eyes Thanksgiving morning, young Russell has new braces and can't open his mouth wide enough to eat anything and Jessie had an accident at cheerleading practice that will prevent her from much eating. She is the one they throw up in the air and when she came down she hit another girl's head and put her tooth through her lip. The school called a plastic surgeon before they called Ann so the arrangements were all made for her to take Jessie right to the doctor. Ann said he does this often and put the stitches in right on his kitchen table with Ron holding the light and the doctor' wife cooking breakfast for some company they had. Jessie was not feeling very good when I saw her on Saturday but she is doing much better today and will go to school.
SARAH WAS REALLY A STAR IN THE NUTCRACKER BALLET ON SATURDAY NIGHT. She was one of the "party girls" and had the most darling costume. This Nutcracker was put on by a dance teacher all of the Weinert and Bob Mellor children have gone to - it was just excellent - I liked it better than the one at the Capitol Theatre. It was fun for Lee Anna and me to be with John & Julianna, Claire, Laura, Katie and all the Weinerts. It was held at Weber State University. I LOVED IT!!!!
JOHN, THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH FOR ALL THE WORK YOU DID FOR ME ON SATURDAY!!! He always cleans out the rain gutters but this time he really "did a number on my roof". Part of my roof is right under a big tree and all the leaves and dirt fall on it. John swept it, blew it and hosed it down - I couldn't believe all the yucky stuff that came from it. My while house seems cleaner since he did that and I appreciate it SO much, I could hire some of the neighbor boys to clean out the gutters but they would get the leaves out and that would be it - John is SO through in everything he does.
Our Relief Society Home Making Meeting last Thursday was the most successful one we have ever had. My Home making Counselor is still down in her back - she has been down for three weeks!!! My Education Counselor had to go to a concert her daughter was in at BYU. My Secretary has hurt her wrist and it's all wrapped up. I felt like the sky was falling in - I went to the church at 5 p.m. to set things up and optimistically set up 50 chairs. We had to set up more - we had about 62 there. The craft was making beeswax candles and the cooking demonstration was holiday cooking. I made candles and they're really quite pretty.
We had Bro. Bradford's funeral last Wednesday. The family called me on Tuesday night and said to plan for 130 people for the dinner afterwards. We hurried and called more people to bring food. I was at the church from 9 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. and I was SO tired when I got home I went right to bed. We didn't serve until after they came from the cemetery and they kept straggling the tables and chairs. I called some young boys to come help after the family left - they had to take down 15 big tables and 150 chairs. It was a BIG job!!!
I have told you about Aunt Elaine and her accident!!! They wouldn't let her stay in the Care Center any longer so her son Matt called to see if she could come here to convalesce. I told him I would be gone on Saturday from 4 until about 10 so he said he would just take her to his home. She called me on Saturday afternoon and asked if she could come here on Monday morning (today) and stay for about three weeks. I hurried home from church yesterday and got all my Christmas decorations out from the storage place because it is right in the middle of the family room downstairs where she wanted to stay. I didn't want to have the mess while she was staying down here. When I got it out I decided it would brighten up everything if I put up the tree down here. SO I put the Christmas tree up in a hurry and put all the other decorations out in the garage so I could put them up later in the living room. I got John's bedroom all ready for her and about 8:30 she called and said she had to stay at
Matt's for a few more days to get some business things taken care of. That family is the most unorganized family I have ever known. I don't believe she will ever come here but I'm not going to worry about it any more - I have done everything I can do to try to help.
We had the weirdest thing happen in our neighborhood on Friday night. I didn't hear about it until yesterday and I'm glad. A young man who was on drugs rolled his car on the freeway just West from me. He ran through our neighborhood - broke into one of the homes on 800 South and took off all his clothes, then he ran across the street and
tried to break into another home but they have a huge dog that attacked him so he ran back across the street to the Allman's home. That is the home that has the big front window that is decorated so lavishly for Christmas - it's right on the corner. Linda Allman had been decorating on Friday and left a tree stand in her front yard. This young man picked up the stand and threw it into her window - the Allmans heard the noise and called the police. When they came the man ran through the house and broke a mirror and cut himself - some scouts passing by finally tackled him - he was completely naked!!!
