Dearest John & Julianna; Roy, Patrice, Emily, Timothy & Jesse; Bob, Claire, Michael, Laura, Brett & Katie; Rick, Jean, Ricky, Barbara Jean, Mary Ann & Sarah; and Ron, Ann, Susanna, Jessie, Russell, LeeAnna & Jimmy:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO LAURA ON WEDNESDAY!!! I hope you have a very happy day. It was fun to visit with you at Lake Powell and hear how excited you would be to turn 12 years old so you could do baptisms for the dead in the new Bountiful Temple - that is such a righteous thing to do. You will also go into Mutual now - I can't believe you are that old.

We are having very HOT weather. I have been doing a lot of weeding - I try to go out early in the morning and it is actually almost too cool to be in the shade without a jacket but once it gets about 10 o'clock it is time to come inside. I just about have things under control again l- the week I was in Lake Powell, the weeds just took over. My tomatoes are as green as grass - I don't believe they will have time to turn ripe before it freezes. When I was in the garden this morning, my dogs were right with me and before I knew it they had picked about a dozen green tomatoes - this has not been my Summer for a garden!!!

I watched the weather news last night and it looked like Arkansas was due for some heavy rain as an aftermath from the hurricane that hit Florida and Alabama. I hope if you get the rain, you will also get some cool weather. I worried about Wayne & Chris because from all the reports, it sounded like their place was right in the eye of the hurricane. I called them on Saturday morning and they are fine - they said they came in from their trip out West on Wednesday night and Thursday they had to evacuate their home. They said there were a lot of trees down and some roofs were damaged but their place didn't get hurt at all. They just loved being at the cabin in Scofield - their friends from Arkansas, Nub and Joe Rainey, stayed there with them for several days and they caught a lot of fish right off the dock. They are going to be in Plainview, Arkansas for the next month building on their home and taking care of Wayne's mother. They had a picture of the home they are building there and it is very nice - that is the 12th house Wayne has built!!!

The Woolleys came over last night and we had such a good visit and Family Home Evening. They brought me a lobster tail dinner and when I told Jessie I had never eaten lobster she was so cute and said, "Grandma, don't eat the shell". It kinda" reminded me of the time we went for seafood with our family when we were on a trip and Jeannie unknowingly ate the lungs of some strange fish!!! Ron helped me with my sprinkling system - it had gone crazy!!!

John & Julianna came over on Friday night for a cookout with some of their friends. It was SO fun having them here - I haven't seen Julianna for at least a month. She is enjoying her school class and it was interesting to hear her tell about some of her students - she has two children from a polygamy family - they have the same father but different mothers. I simply cannot believe how that can be allowed when it is so against the law. She said they are the nicest children in her class. John has been super busy getting ready for "Siggraph" - I believe that's right. Their company is involved in a huge electronic trade show in Los Angeles this week. Julianna said that John came home one morning at 6 o'clock - he had been working all night.

JOHN WILL GRADUATE ON AUGUST 18TH. The graduation ceremonies will be in the Marriott Center at 8:00 a.m. There are other special things the night before but John said he is not going to any of that. I am going and any of you who will be able to come are invited to have "Brunch - Lunch" afterwards. Ann & Jean & I and some of their daughters will be leaving shortly after to go to St. George to attend that "Tuacahn" spectacular - we have had tickets for a long time. I AM VERY PROUD OF JOHN - it has been a difficult program with a full time job and he has done very well. BYU's MBA program is recognized as one of the best.

Rick has been in Idaho on a "Business-Fishing" trip. I hope you have had a good time.

Bob is going on another "Scout-Training" trip - I can't remember where or when but I hope you have a worthwhile and fun time.

Roy & Patrice - have you been to the "Red River" fishing??? That was such a fun place to go - I remember the fog coming off the river when we camped there. Patrice - say hello to your Mom.

I am going to Logan on Wednesday to attend the temple and the sealing session for Dee & Judys' son Brennen and his wife and family. They sent out the most elaborate invitations - I have never seen any like that. I will drive to Murray and then go from there to Logan with Don & Cheryl. It is going to be a very interesting "gathering" - I'm sure Judy and her new husband will be there and Don had said he would not go but changed his mind for Dee's sake. Don told Brennen that he was very hurt because Judy didn't tell him about her marriage so Brennen told his Mother and Judy called and apologized to Don!!!

I have talked to Chris Jordin a lot and she is doing fine. Marc's very best friend is President of the Bountiful Temple and he called to see if Chris would let him do Marc's ordinance work. Chris told him she would have to wait and talk to Marc's nephews who he sent on missions because she felt maybe they should do it. Life is interesting isn't it?

Linda Smithers? and her daughter Deniece ? are going to come stay with me for Education Week. Ellen Mae will also be here. It will be fun having them here - August 22nd - 25th. Dianne is also coming but she will stay in their condo. I'm SO glad I am not going to be a hostess this year!!!
