I drove into Salt Lake this morning!!! Nordstroms is having their twice-annual Summer sale and I couldn't stand not going. I should stop reading the paper or the things I get in the mail concerning sales because they never are as good as they say they will be. I REALLY like Nordstroms clothes SO I WENT. I bought two Summer dresses that are almost identical - I have always said I wish everyone wore uniforms so I wouldn't have to make decisions as to what to wear and this is as close as I get - Ha!!!

We usually have our Presidency meeting on Monday morning but one of my counselors couldn't come and it is in her department where we were having a problem so I decided to cancer. The Primary wants to take one of our teachers into their auxiliary - we're not very happy about it but I'm sure things will work out. She is one of our best teachers!!!

I had such a happy weekend and I must tell you about it. I'm not sure if I have told you all about the dock at the cabin. Daddy put Styrofoam blocks under it to float it. WELL - that was at least five years ago and the last few years it has become quite unstable - the muskrats build their nests in the Styrofoam and it deteriorates it. When I was at the cabin a few weeks ago I was very concerned because the dock was in the water and I could just see it floating out into the reservoir and sinking. I talked to Bob and he thought of several solutions. He looked into pontoons to float it and they would have cost $500 and then they would have been twice too long. He said he would try to find some barrels to float it - that's what most of the docks up there have. I said I would try to find some too.

WELL - last week I went to the cabin and took ALL the bedding from the beds so I could wash it all. I planned to go up there on Friday and really do some Spring cleaning and re-make all the beds with clean bedding. In the meantime I went to three boat stores to see if they could tell me where I could get some barrels. I got the address of Pacific Iron and Pipe works just South of Provo so I went there on my way to the cabin on Friday. It was in an out of the way place so it took me a long time to get on my way - they didn't have any barrels but they said they would try to find me some. I didn't get to the cabin until about 3 o'clock and had just started cleaning when our friend, Byrd Gordon came over to visit. I ended up spending the night at the cabin and came home Saturday morning.

WELL - Saturday afternoon I saw Bob & Claire drive up and it was one of the funniest sights I have ever seen - I hope so much that my pictures turn out. Bob had found then barrels and he had them loaded in his trailer and also on top of his car. I had the box springs and mattresses from the guest room that I had replaced so he loaded them on top of the barrels to take them to the cabin too. They looked like the "Clampetts" from the Beverly Hill Billy show. The children were all helping and they told me what they had to do the barrels - they had to put epoxy glue all over the openings. Their plan was to turn the dock over and take all the Styrofoam off and strap the barrels on to float it.

I thought about them all day and could envision them shooting the muskrats as they took off the foam. I couldn't stand it so after church on Sunday I drove up to see them. I went to the dock first and it looked just like it did the day before when I left. They laughed as they told me they couldn't even lift the ramp leading to the dock let alone the dock. Bob said, "I'm going to have to get more man power up here to help me". There isn't really an emergency - the foam that is there is floating it and they have it tied to a huge rock so there is no way it is going to float away. Bob stored the barrels under the deck.

They put the two beds upstairs and they work great - we have a lot of sleeping space there now. I had such a fun time with them - Michael and Brett each caught a fish and Laura and Katie found some natural clay somewhere up there and they made little dishes. We had a fun dinner together and then I left to come home while they were cleaning - I got home about 8 p.m. and they had another hour driving time after Orem. I'm sure the weekend was not a relaxing one for them - Bob had taken his scouts on an outing to West Canyon on Thursday and Friday - he had to go back to work to get rested. They had gone to church in Scofield - I think that is such a great experience for them - who knows - they may be called to missions that are very much like that!!!

Roy & Patrice - WE ARE EXCITED FOR YOUR VISIT. Utah is either going to be really celebrating when you get here or it is going to be in a deep depression - Ha!!! They will announce who gets the Winter Olympics in the year 2000 on Friday morning, the 16th. I can't believe all the things they have planned to celebrate - they have had so many disappointments that I'm surprised they even think Utah has a chance. I am for the Olympics coming to Utah - many people don't want it but I think it would be great!!!

Jeannie, Ricky, Barji, Mary Ann & Sarah came by to visit yesterday while I was gone. I am sorry I missed you but I know you had a wonderful time visiting the Woolleys and it was fun to talk to you. Sarah will be in a ballet performance on Tuesday the 20th and Laura will be in a jazz performance on Wednesday, the 21st. Ricky is working a lot at Lagoon - that's WONDERFUL. Rick was on a fishing-business trip in Yellowstone.

Susanna had her four wisdom teeth taken out this morning. I will call later to see how she is. Ron has a "permanent" hotel room in Bakersfield, California where he is involved in a trial. I don't know where John is - I hope to hear from him soon.
