We are having such unseasonably cold weather!!! I get colder in the house during this kind of weather than I do in the dead of Winter. I want to go out and work in the yard but when it's so cold it is hard to be motivated. We have had lots and lots of rain so everything is green and pretty but it's too cold to plant anything.
Bob - I'm SO glad you are home safe and sound!!! Bob went to Mexico last Thursday on one of his humanitarian missions - I don't usually know he is going until he has come home but this time I did and I always worry as I'm sure his family does. I awaken each morning about 6 o'clock and turn on the Utah news and this morning I heard them announce there was a small plane that had crashed near Beaver, Utah with six passengers aboard. I just panicked but decided to wait a little longer before calling to see if he were home. I have turned my phone off in my bedroom and Ann called about 7 o'clock and I didn't hear the phone ring ªI believe I would have had a heart attack if I had. Ann called about getting tickets for the Stadium of Fire thing on July 1st. I was SO relieved when I called and Claire said he had come home last night and was fine.
Claire said he had had a very successful trip - had performed 2 surgeries on 16 year old girls with hair lips. She also told me the plane he flies on is a pressurized plane and equipped with radar and other things that the larger planes have. I'm surely proud of you Bob - AND I know you are protected.
The Woolleys are doing fine. I went to a violin recital in which Jesse and LeeAnna performed one evening last week - it is always a thrill to see how much they improve from one time to the next and they are REALLY good. Then on Saturday night I went to the Timpanogos Chamber Orchestra performance in Alpine and it was just WONDERFUL - Jesse plays with them. She has had to go to Alpine every Saturday morning for practice at 8 o'clock for many months and this performance was a result of all those practices. I couldn't believe an orchestra with such young people in it could be so good - they played all classical music and I enjoyed it SO much. Bev, Russell and Mimi were here from Idaho so we all went together. We went to Hogi Yogi for yogurt afterwards and it was fun.
John came over yesterday to check his mail and he always checks the dogs too. Little Frauie's teeth are bad and for some reason she chews on hair and gets it wound in between her teeth - he so painstakingly got it all out. I never look at their teeth. John is looking forward to his European trip for his MBA class.
I haven't heard from the Weinerts of the Roy Mellors but I'm sure they are doing good. I believe Ricky has started working at Lagoon and I'm wondering how he likes it. I haven't been to Lagoon for many years but I want to take Emily, Timothy and Jesse there when they come. Maybe we could all meet there one afternoon.
Chris Jordin called me one day last week and she said you have had a lot of rain in Little Rock. She is having blood pressure problems. My brother Don has high blood pressure too.
Our new Bishop wanted me to go with him last week to visit with the widows in the ward. We spent Monday, Tuesday afternoons and Thursday evening visiting. One of my friends' husbands died last week so I went up for the viewing on Wednesday. My friend is Marva Frost and she and her husband have a son who is married to my sister-in-laws' sister. Don & Cheryl called and asked if I wanted to ride to Brigham City with them so I went to Murray and met them. It was fun to be with them and I also saw many of my Brigham City friends. When we got to their home on the way back they asked me to come in and choose one of the "bears" that Don makes. He cuts some wood from the farm in Lehi and makes the cutest wooden bears - I chose one and put it out on my porch and I just love it.
Ramona and I went to the temple on Saturday morning and then we stopped for a few groceries - it was an all day affair - Ha!!! Ramona is doing good I think - she will be 81 this Summer. Elaine is still having problems and has had surgery - I need to go see her. Carol calls me quite often but I haven't heard from Shirley for awhile.
We had our presidency meeting this morning and the homemaking counselor said her committee wants to have a "Sister Sleepover" in a cabin at Sundance. WOW, can I tell my age is showing!!! That's the last thing I can get excited about - I have to remind myself that there are a lot of young sisters in our ward who really enjoy things like that. I told them I would "think about it". They seem to think that if they can have Father and Sons' Outings we should have Mother and Daughter Outings - does that come under Relief Society???
One of the young women in our ward has her entire life involved with "dancing". She has taken dance lessons for about ten years and is very good - she has a dance scholarship to go to BYU after graduation this year. Her father is a doctor and he insisted last week that she go in for tests because her knees were giving her a lot of pain. They found one of her knees is in VERY BAD shape - she is in a heavy cast and is supposed to stay off it for six months and then see if she should ever dance again as strenuously as she has been doing. She has been a cheerleader for two years besides all the dancing she does. I feel SO bad for her. I hope all my granddaughters who are involved in things with knee stress will be careful.
