Dearest John & Julianna; Roy, Patrice, Emily, Timothy & Jesse; Bob, Claire, Michael, Laura, Brett & Katie; Rick, Jean, Ricky, Barbara Jean, Mary Ann & Sarah; and Ron, Ann, Susanna, Jessie, Russell, LeeAnna & Jimmy:

CONGRATULATIONS TO MARY ANN FOR A WONDERFUL PERFORMANCE IN THE NUTCRACKER. Ann, Jessie, LeeAnna, Russell and I went to Salt Lake to see it on Saturday night and it was just marvelous. The only bad thing was that we got in the "Jazz" traffic and we were in bumper to bumper traffic all the way. Ann missed the first part of it because she let us out at the Capitol Theatre and then she had to find a parking place. They won't let people come in late so she had to wait for intermission - I wish it had been me. We went to Marie Callender's for pie afterwards and that was so much fun!!! Thank you for inviting me!!! I believe Mary Ann's last performance is tonight - I surely do admire you for sticking to the busy schedule you have had for many months!!!

I told John the other day that I don't know what I did with my time before I was so involved in Relief Society work. I do something for Relief Society every single day and I never seem to catch up. I know that John thinks I need a housekeeper - every time he has been over, my house is in utter chaos. I believe that's why I don't like to do crafts because when I do things like that my house really gets neglected.

Julianna helped me decorate some little white paper sacks for our board meeting last week. They turned out SO cute and now I am having phone calls asking where I got the material for them because they want to duplicate them for their gifts. Thank you Julianna. Julianna has REALLY been sick!!! She & John had planned to go to the "Nutcracker" with us on Saturday but they decided they had better stay home - John says she hasn't slept most of the week because of coughing. I talked to her this morning and she said she slept last night for the first time and she is feeling better - Bob had called in some medicine that has helped her - THANK YOU BOB!!!

Claire - thanks for calling last night. I felt SO bad that you hung up so quickly. I didn't want you to think you had awakened me at 8:30 and that's why I told you I was watching "Reunion". I would have much preferred talking to you and the children. I had planned to watch that because I admire Marlo Thomas but it became too sad and scary so I kept turning it off. I was watching the very end of it when Don & Cheryl called so I don't even know how it ended but I hope it ended happily. Did any of you watch it?

Are you already for Christmas? My street is SO pretty at night-many of the homes have gone all out in decorating and I LOVE it. I like to get up at night and look outside - I usually turn mine off about 9:30 - 10:00 but the others must be on timers and they go off about midnight.

I will always remember being in Little Rock about this time last year and how beautiful Roy & Patrices' home looked - inside and out. That is a beautiful memory for me!!! I hope Suzie is happy being in Little Rock. I haven't talked to them since she arrived so I don't know if her home there is ready or not. Anytime there is a change in our lives it is an adjustment and I'm thinking of you Suzie.

Jeannie and Rick - thank you SO much for inviting me to go with you to the Bountiful temple this next Friday. I have it on my calendar and have been planning on it BUT I have decided to stay home and attend our Family Home Evening Christmas party. I know that I will have other opportunities to go there and I also know your children have been involved and will continue to be involved in the activities that are planned for the dedication in January so please forgive me. I would love for our family to plan to go together sometime - would that be possible? I know the time we all met and went through the Jordan River Temple together meant so much to Daddy and to me. Our Family Home Evening Christmas party is always so much fun and I know that if I miss it I will feel bad.

I am writing my Christmas cards now. It has been fun to receive some from friends that I only hear from once a year. Joan Corbitt whom some of you remember from Phoenix has brought a townhouse in Gilbert, Arizona - Don died suddenly of a heart attack about a year ago and she has sold her home in Phoenix. I was really surprised about that. They also have a condo in San Diego so I guess she will live in both places.

I have called Dee's wife, Judy, several times. She is only 56 years old - that also surprised me. I knew she was younger than Dee but I didn't think she was that much younger. I told Don last night that I felt like she would marry again and he said, "Who would want to marry her?" I get brave every once in awhile and write something in my newsletter that I shouldn't - Ha!!!

I have tried to find Carol but I haven't been able to. I haven't called her daughter's home in California and that's probably where she is. Her son with whom she was living in Manti said she was in Provo at their Condo here but I haven't been able to get an answer there.

The only other news I have is about making tablecloths for Relief Society, planning the dinner for our social tomorrow, making changes in the visiting teaching routes, etc., etc. I have Rhodes bread thawing out so I can make breadsticks to take to a new family that has just moved in.

John is getting to be quite the gourmet cook. He made some ravioli from scratch and Julianna said it was very good. He was a "wiseman" in their church play last night. They are going to Phoenix to spend a weekend with Julianna's family - they won't want to come back to all our snow and ice!!!
