Dearest John & Julianna; Roy, Patrice, Emily, Timothy & Jesse; Bob, Claire, Michael, Laura, Brett & Katie; Rick, Jean, Ricky, Barbara Jean, Mary Ann & Sarah; and Ron, Ann, Susanna, Jessie, Russell, LeeAnna & Jimmy:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO JULIANNA TODAY!!! I hope you have a really happy day - I know it will be a busy one with school, work etc. John & Julianna are refinishing a wooden chest of drawers- Julianna told me about a new store that has just opened up here in Orem. It has lots of unfinished wooden furniture - I'm anxious to go to it although I won't be doing any refinishing. She said they wanted it a cream color and it is turning out to be more yellow but I'm sure it will be pretty.

I hope you all had as happy a Labor Day as I did and mine was completely unexpected and unplanned. I have a very busy schedule right now with Relief Society, etc. so I told everyone I couldn't go to the cabin - I knew the Weinerts had planned to go. WELL - on Sunday, John & Julianna came over and John groomed Hans and Frauie. While they were here, Bob called and said their family wanted to go to the cabin and wondered if anyone here would also like to go. He said he didn't know if the Weinerts had gone or not. I decided I couldn't pass up an opportunity to be with my family so I went too.

I called the Woolleys to tell them I wouldn't be home for Family Home Evening and Ann told me that the Weinerts were at the cabin. That sounded like so much fun!!! John & Julianna went to the store and got hamburger and buns, etc. for dinner for Monday - I threw in some things from my freezer. Bob called from American Fork and said they would meet us at the cabin. We got up there about 7 o'clock and when we drove in John said, "Mom, the Weinerts aren't here but the Bob Mellors are". Bob & Laura were building a fire and we sat around the fire and it was just WONDERFUL - the weather was gorgeous.

About 9 o'clock a car drove up and Ricky got out. The Weinerts had left the cabin just a few minutes before Bob got there and they planned to come see me on their way home. When they got here and found out I wasn't here, they called Ann and she told them I had gone to the cabin. So, they turned around and drove back to Scofield.

We just had a MARVELOUS time - the children are so adaptable and found places to sleep and since none of the adults wanted to be responsible for the children, all the adults slept downstairs. We have those foam mattresses up there and I put mine under the kitchen table and I know I had the best bed in the cabin. We ALL slept until about 8 o'clock on Monday morning and then Bob & Rick fixed the best breakfast I have had since PaPa used to cook breakfasts up there - pancakes, bacon and eggs. Even John & Julianna got up for breakfast - Ha!!!

I really don't know where the time went on Monday - Jeannie and I went for a walk and Julianna went with John, Bob and Rick and I believe they did a little target shooting. The children LOVE the four-wheelers and we hardly saw them.

John & Julianna fixed hamburgers and the trimmings for dinner and Bob fixed "rice-a-roni" - we all ate out on the deck and the weather was picture perfect WITHOUT any bugs. All of a sudden it was time to come home and I didn't want to leave. I love to go up there any time but especially with my family. We missed Claire and Michael and also the Woolleys and Roy Mellors.

The Woolleys had big plans - they went to the Great Salt Lake and planned to visit Antelope Island and swim in the lake. I guess Ron is asked frequently about the Great Salt Lake so he decided he had better find out more about it. I believe Ron also took Russell and Jimmy up in the mountains to campout on Sunday night.

The Bob Mellors went to the Uintas like they had planned but it rained and rained and rained so they came home. I believe they ended up going to the Marriott to spend Saturday night but I'm not sure - that sounded fun too.

The Roy Mellors had plans to be with some of their friends but Roy didn't know exactly what they were going to do. I'll bet you went on some kind of a picnic to a park where the children could run and play - I hope you had a happy day.

I had such a busy day yesterday. I went to the Welfare Cannery about 11 o'clock and worked until 2:30 - they are canning peaches and most of them that came through on the belt were too ripe. Paul Theobald was working with me and we decided they would be better used for jam. I left the cannery and went to the grocery store to get things for the Family Home Evening that was held at my house last night. After the grocery shopping I went to get my hair cut and then I came home. I hurried and made a cake for dessert and straightened up my house.

Bob - I HAD THE BEST FAMILY HOME EVENING I HAVE EVER HAD. I SHOWED THE VIDEO OF YOUR TRIP TO MEXICO. My friends just loved it and I was SO proud of you. That is something we will have to show to the family sometime.

This morning I had an appointment with Chris Crawford to get my permanent crowns put on. I'm glad to have that done - no one will ever notice the difference except me but they look a lot better. After that I drove into Salt Lake to get my camera and to go to the church distribution center and also to Cottonwood Mall to see the art work of Polly Parkinson Taylor - she has done a beautiful job. Now I must get ready for R.S. board meeting tonight.

I went by the farm in Lehi last Thursday and Don was at his garden so I drove in the lane to see him - he loaded me up with the most delicious produce - you wouldn't believe his garden!!!
