Dearest John & Julianna; Roy, Patrice, Emily, Timothy & Jesse; Bob, Claire, Michael, Laura, Brett & Katie; Rick, Jean, Ricky, Barbara Jean, Mary Ann & Sarah; and Ron, Ann, Susanna, Jessie, Russell, LeeAnna & Jimmy:
We just finished with our Relief Society Presidency Meeting and we all agreed that we are almost reluctant to start back into the "swing of things". I have two of the most wonderful counselors in the church and a wonderful secretary too or else I would really panic. There are several men in our ward who are near death and I constantly worry that they will die when I go to Sun Valley or some other fun place - Ha!!!
Welcome home to the Weinert family and congratulations to Rick!!! Jeannie called me Saturday night to invite me to come to Farmington for dinner, Family Home Evening and to see the pictures of their trip on Sunday after church. When I came home from church I was SO hot that I decided to get in comfortable clothes. I left here about 3 o'clock and went by the cemetery to take flowers and to Smiths to cash a check so I didn't get to the Weinert's home until about 4:30.
Jeannie had a delicious Mexican dinner fixed but they were still dressed in their "Sunday Go To Meeting" clothes. During the dinner they told me they had invited the whole family to come because Rick was going to be ordained a High Priest. I panicked because of my casual clothes and I knew that NOTHING Jeannie had would fit me. As it turned out, when the Woolleys came they were dressed casually and so was Claire - Bob, John & Julianna were still dressed up. It was a WONDERFUL occasion and I am SO proud of you Rick. His former and present Bishop came, his good friend who lives in another ward, Wayne Snow, came and then a representative from the Stake came. Jeannie had made a delicious brownie fudge cake and she served it with ice cream.
THEN we all watched their videos from their trip to Europe. They were really excellent videos and ones they will cherish for the rest of their lives. I still can't believe all the places they went and the things the children learned. They brought home some great "keepsakes". Jeannie & Rick celebrated their 18th wedding anniversary while they were there and bought a beautiful music box to celebrate.
It was WONDERFUL to be with the family again and Roy & Patrice we missed you and your children. I'm looking forward to Sun Valley when we will all be together in a relaxing situation - I'm glad I won't be expected to roller blade or bicycle ride.
Patrice - thank you for your phone call last week. It is always so good to talk to you and fun to hear the children in the background. You are really busy, I know!!! I can hardly wait to see the children - I know that Jesse will really have changed.
Ann had a really fun weekend. She and some of her former neighbor friends spent a night at Park City. She said they talked all night and she was half asleep yesterday. Susanna & Jessie say they like High School but already they feel like they have been in school for months instead of days.
The Weinert children started school this morning and Jeannie was lots more excited than they were. It was fun for me to see Barji's cheerleading uniform - it's just darling!!!
John has been in Mexico on business and said he had a good time. Julianna is in a master's program at BYU and I believe she is also employed by BYU in supervising teachers on the elementary level - I'm not sure about this.
Bob and Claire and their children are looking forward to going backpacking in the Uinta Mountains this weekend. I can't think of a more wholesome and fun vacation. I think both Bob and Claire look TOO thin so I hope they will take some fattening foods. Bob has inherited his Father's stomach problems and Claire has been preparing mostly fat free meals to help him. He says he feels much better so I know he's healthy.
I am trying to fix my "ugly" room downstairs. I started cleaning Daddy's workroom and took all the canned foods off the shelves- I threw a lot away and rearranged the rest. I waste TOO much food and I'm not going to get more food storage until I use what I have - I know I had canned foods that we bought when we first moved back to Utah and I threw a lot away. I am going to "curtain" the room and you will probably all laugh when you see it. I have to keep the door open when the furnace is on for circulation purposes and I can't dismantle the work area so I am going to camouflage it with curtains.
I feel kinda' bad for my neighbors, Paul & Dorothy Theobald. Paul was volunteering his time and talents to help the church in Hawaii with some of their land problems. The church shipped his backhoe over there and he has worked from 12 to 16 hours a day doing the work and helping to teach other men how to use big equipment. About three weeks ago one of the young men who was working with him took exception to his "ordering him around" and beat Paul up. He was in the hospital for a little while but he's doing okay now and they came home last week. The young man who beat him up was a member of the church and was being paid for his work and Paul was volunteering his. I haven't been over to see them but I need to go.
I went to the Orem Women's Club Summer party last Thursday. I was on the committee and we had the food catered and it was held at the Cascade Park here in Orem. It was well attended and was very nice except that it was TOO HOT!!! I also went to the
Timpanogos Children's Library Festival on Saturday. They had a special "laughing night" on Saturday at the Scera Park and the entertainment was GREAT - guest lecturers from all over!!!
