WOW - I'm glad last week is over. I learned that I am much too old to be an "Education Week" hostess!!! My assignment was in a room that had seats for 336 and an overflow room that would seat 125 and there were 700 people who came for all three sessions. My job was to check their tickets; welcome them and then make sure they exited the right door. Those who couldn't get into the classroom were very upset so they stayed out in the hallway to listen to the lectures and I couldn't let them sit down because of the fire code and I ended up having to be MEAN. I couldn't sit down either and so I stood up for four hours each morning for the four days.

Ellen Mae came down on Tuesday and we had such a good time being together and from noon on we attended the classes we wanted to. We didn't want to miss out on anything so we stayed until 10 or 11 each night. We went to "Camelot" one night and it was just excellent. She had to go home on Thursday and I was SO tired that I came home too. A sprinkler head in my front yard had broken and I had several messages on my phone telling me about it so I went to the store to get a replacement for it and fixed that on Thursday and then went to bed - Ha!!!

While I was home on Thursday I had a phone call from Beverly and Gilbert Culwell from Arkansas. They were coming through Provo and wanted to stop by so I said I would come home from Education Week by 2 o'clock on Friday and then go back for the evening classes. WELL - they came right at 2 o'clock but they stayed until 7:30 so I didn't go back to BYU. I finally figured it out that they wanted to spend the night here but I was just so tired to invited them. I fixed them some food but that was all. It was fun to visit with them and hear about all our friends in Arkansas. They had told me they planned to spend Friday night in Hyrum, Utah visiting with Beverly's brother so maybe they didn't really want to stay with me. They left and I went to bed early again.

The young man from Montana came last Sunday afternoon and stayed until Sunday morning. I visited some with him and fixed him one lunch but that was all I even saw him. Thursday evening about 10 o'clock I had a phone call and I was sound asleep - it was a girl wanting to talk to him. I looked out the window and couldn't see his car so I took a message and said I would give it to him. I wrote the message on a piece of paper and came downstairs to put it on his bed AND HE WAS IN IT. I was SO embarrassed and so was he!!! He was a nice young man and kept asking me if he could fix anything for me - he said, "I can fix anything". He did fix my water pipe outside - I believe it dripped and kept him awake.

Claire - it was fun to see you and your family at Education Week and you looked So NICE!!! I am anxious to hear what lectures you went to. I was impressed with Michael Ballam - he is such a talented man. I bought a disc of his singing. Steven Covey didn't come this year and I thought that might discourage the crowd but they couldn't have accommodated more than the 33,000 who did come.

Weinerts - I am anxious to hear all about your trip. If I remember correctly you will be home tomorrow and I will be happy to have you back where you are supposed to be!!! I know you have had a marvelous experience and I hope so much that you have been able to see and do all the things you wanted to.

I had such a fun Family Home Evening last night. I had decided it was my turn to make the dessert so I came from church and made two peach pies - it took me all afternoon - Ha!!! WELL - about 6 o'clock Ann called to tell me they probably would not be able to come because they were having a "bus etiquette" meeting at their home for all the children who would be riding the bus to school and the meeting started at 7 o'clock. I told her I would bring the pies and throw them at her - SO she said they would come but they would be late and couldn't stay very long. I hadn't seen or heard from John & Julianna all week so I called to see if they would come over too. They all came and we had such a good visit - the pie wasn't special but their visit was!!!

Susanna has passed her driver's test so now she has her permit to drive with an adult in the car. She drove over here last night and again back home when it was dark. It will really be such a lot of help to Ann for her to be able to drove - I can't believe she is that old!!!

I have almost envied the Roy Mellors this Summer because their weather has been cooler than ours has been. Everyone I have talked to from Arkansas has said you have had a beautiful Summer. I hope you are all doing good - Emily will be starting school soon and that will be exciting for all of you.

John & Julianna brought me the most beautiful picture of the two of them - it really is one of the nicest pictures I have ever seen. They also brought me some pictures of me with my granddaughters and also the one of my grandsons minus Timothy - I'll have to get one of him and put it on someway. They are absolutely beautiful pictures and I love them. I hope it isn't too late to order the family pictures that were taken - I have really dragged my feet on that!!!

I have an appointment with Chris Crawford in the morning to have two of my front teeth "crowned". I hope it doesn't hurt too much because I have the Relief Society Book Review here in the afternoon. My life is too complicated!!!

I love each one of you so very much. PLEASE BE VERY CAREFUL!!!
