Dearest John & Julianna; Roy, Patrice, Emily, Timothy & Jesse; Bob, Claire, Michael, Laura, Brett & Katie; Rick, Jean, Ricky, Barbara Jean, Mary Ann & Sarah; and Ron, Ann, Susanna, Jessie, Russell, LeeAnna & Jimmy:

Wow - it's the first of August. August has always been the only really hot month for me in Utah and I just call a moratorium on yard work in this month and let the weeds grow and grow. I can't really say that this year though because we have had such hot and almost miserable months of June and July. According to the weathermen all kinds of records have been broken - one that has a lot of people worried is the lack of rainfall. We had a rainstorm a couple evenings ago and it was funny because all the neighborhood children were out playing in it - it was quite a phenomenon.

Roy & Patrice - I talked to both Chris Jordin and Joy Geisler yesterday and they said your weather in Little Rock has just been wonderful - in the 80's with low humidity - that's unusual!!!

Claire - thank you for your letter and those darling pictures - The one of Michael and Laura is exceptionally good and the one of Bob and the houseboat anchor is REALLY a memory!!! Our Lake Powell trip this year was full of memories. I was looking at my pictures with the Woolleys last night and we all agreed that you and Sarah would win the "Good Sportsmanship Awards" for not complaining one single bit about your broken limbs.

Emily & Timothy thank you SO much for your wonderful pictures and letters. Emily, it makes me really happy to have you write little sweet notes to me - it won't be long until you will be able to write a long letter and I will love that. When does your school start? Timothy, will you be going to your school three days a week next year? I'll bet it won't be long until little Jesse will be going to a "Mother's Day Out" once in awhile. I have always been impressed with the day care places they have in Little Rock - probably because I worked in them.

John had a good and successful trip to Florida for his business. He is always happy to get home - it reminds me so much of Daddy - I would envy him going to so many fun places and he would remind me that it wasn't as much fun as it appears. I REALLY appreciate John coming over to groom for Hans and Frauie to have someone pet them - I always make sure they have food and fresh water but I don't spend enough time petting them.

Weinerts - how are you??? I know you are fine and also busy. I have to laugh at myself when I think how I just barely get myself ready to go places and prepares meals for just me and all of you are concerned about many more. I am getting lazy and very inefficient - it takes me too long to accomplish anything.

The Woolleys came over last night for Family Home Evening and I always look forward to that. LeeAnna & Jimmy gave the lesson last night and it was on baptism - SO appropriate because Jimmy will be baptized next Saturday. Ron demonstrated with him how he will baptize him and then we all told the things we remembered about our own baptisms. Jesse told about how someone had told her they had to hold her under the water for five minutes and she was very frightened - Ha!!! I told them they should be very thankful that such a lot of emphasis is put on the families being together for their baptisms now - when I was baptized it was in January and the only thing I remember about it was how cold I was and I didn't know the man who baptized me. It will be GREAT to be with our family next Saturday and we only wish Roy, Patrice and their family could be with us.

Dianne came and had breakfast with me last Saturday - that is if you could call bagels and fruit juice breakfast!!! Their daughters had been at BYU for girl's academy and Garry & Dianne had been in Hawaii for that week and then they were going home Saturday afternoon. We just talked a mile a minute and it was wonderful to be with her. She is plagued with that terrible allergy problem and I don't think she feels very good. I am always careful to not wear perfume when I'm with her - she says she can't even go to church most of the time because of the perfume the ladies wear. She is thrilled with her two little granddaughters and spends a lot of time in San Jose with Garic and his family and in Provo with Brick and his family and also Trace and his wife.

I went to a luncheon last Thursday at Hannah Oldroyd's home. She is a remarkable woman - she is 82 and her husband is bedfast and yet she keeps doing things for others. Her daughter and grand-daughter are living with her for the Summer to help her out - they live in California where her daughter teaches school. This is the Friendship Club I belong to and they are all much older than I am but I just love them.

I spent most of last week revising the visiting teaching lists in our ward - what a hassle!!! Friday morning I started early and hand delivered 88 envelopes to the sisters in our ward - I stopped to visit on my journey and it took me most of the day and it was HOT!!! I got a lot of complaints about some of the companionship when I got to church on Sunday so I will probably end up making a lot of changes.

I also went to a funeral last week. My "used to be Aunt" (Lucille Webb) in Lehi had a sister who passed away. She was 90 years old and had been in a resthome for several years so it wasn't sad. I saw a lot of old friends.

My brother Don, has a son Clint who will be married this Friday. You will all be invited because Cheryl called for your addresses. Please don't worry about a gift - I bought them a waffle maker. It would be nice if some of you could attend.
