Dearest John & Julianna; Roy, Patrice, Emily, Timothy & Jesse; Bob, Claire, Michael, Laura, Brett & Katie; Rick, Jean, Ricky, Barbara Jean, Mary Ann & Sarah; and Ron, Ann, Susanna, Jessie, Russell, LeeAnna & Jimmy:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MICHAEL NEXT SUNDAY - WOW, THE FIRST TEENAGER IN THE BOB MELLOR HOME!!! It doesn't seem possible that you will be 13 years old Michael - you are a mighty fine young teenager and I hope you have a very happy day.

HAPPY BELATED FATHER'S DAY TO ALL THE WONDERFUL FATHERS IN OUR FAMILY. I hope you all had a very happy day yesterday - I am very proud of all of you. Ann and Ron invited John & Julianna and me to their home for dinner - John became ill so they couldn't go but I went and had a great time. They fixed shish ka bobs and they were delicious. I LOVED HEARING ABOUT SUSANNA AND JESSIES' TRIP TO EUROPE. They come home on Friday night and they had had a MARVELOUS time - I believe they saw everything there was to see.

I just came in from working with my rose bushes. I am SO discouraged with my roses - it seems like everyone in Utah can grow pretty roses but me. It isn't like I neglect them - I feed them, water them and dig around them like they tell me to do. Ron suggested that I remove those black plastic "cages" that Lynn put around them so I did that this morning and I hope it makes difference.

This has been a busy week for me. We went as a group of Relief Society Sisters to the Jordan River Temple last Tuesday and then had lunch in the cafeteria there. There were only thirteen of us who went but we had a good time.

Wednesday morning I went to the cabin early and painted all that day and part of Thursday. I am painting it a tan color with light blue trim and then I plan to accent it with a darker blue somewhere. I have tried to copy it from the way the Scera Theater here in Orem is painted but it doesn't look that good YET!!! I am painting as far as I can reach and then if the family can't do the rest I will hire some of my neighbor boys to help me. I did do the flat part of the roof last week and as far as I could reach on the slanted part but it's dumb for me to risk falling from a ladder so I will save that part for someone else.

Thursday I came home from Scofield in time to get ready to go to Ogden for the dance recital that Barbara Jean & Sarah danced in. It was an absolutely beautiful recital - you wouldn't believe the gorgeous costumes. I was SO proud of Barji & Sarah - we had excellent seats this year and we would see EVERYTHING - they did not make one mistake of course, I thought they were the most beautiful and most graceful dancers there. We all went for yogurt after it was over and that was fun too!!! Mary Ann and Laura were in that same dance recital the following night but I couldn't go up again - I was sorry I missed seeing them.

Saturday morning I went up to the cabin again. I got there about noon and was just eating my sandwich when Ann & Ron came. They had been over to the Young Women's camp which is close by and come by to see the cabin. Ron is going to try to find time to take some lumber up there and fill in those spaces dividing the roof and kitchen. It will surely make it look a lot better if he can do that.

John said he will be able to go up there this coming Saturday afternoon - he has an AMA presentation to make that morning but he thinks he will through about noon.

I don't know for sure when I will get up there again. I am going to the Springville Art Museum tomorrow and then to lunch with the Relief Society Sisters. I hope Ann will be able to roll up my hair for a permanent tomorrow afternoon. She is the voter registration person in her precinct and has to stay home this week to help with that.

Wednesday I am going to have to clean this house in earnest. I have been spending my free time either in the yard or at the cabin for the past month. A lady we knew in Billings wrote and asked if I could find a place for her and three of her friends to stay this weekend. I told her they could stay here and yesterday she left a message on my phone machine that there would be six them and they would be here about 6 o'clock on Thursday. I will have to put them on couches!!! I don't really feel comfortable in leaving them here while I go to the cabin, especially since I wouldn't able to be there very long anyway. I have to be here for a breakfast on Saturday morning and then again for meetings that start at 8 o'clock on Sunday morning.

Roy - it was SO good to talk to you on Saturday and hear about your trip to Connecticut. Roy said that Joan's wedding was just beautiful and it turned out the way she wanted it to. Roy & Patrice took their children into Philadelphia where they met some of their college friends and they had a wonderful reunion. Patrice and the children had a good visit with her Mom and sisters for a week or so before the wedding and then Roy went up just a day before the wedding and then they stayed for a week.

Bob - I surely hope your board exams weren't too hard. Bob and Claire went to Washington D.C. this past week where Bob took these exams in order to certify for some plastic surgery - I hope I have that right.

John came over on Saturday and groomed Hans & Frauie for me - they look so much better and they can see for a change. John must have 24 hour flu bug - I called this morning and Julianna said he was still asleep - he was REALLY sick all day yesterday. He took some flowers over for Daddy's grave and then went for a little ride but after that he was sick again.
