Dearest John; Roy, Patrice, Emily, Timothy & Jesse; Bob, Claire, Michael, Laura, Brett & Katie; Rick, Jean, Ricky, Barbara Jean, Mary Ann & Sarah; and Ron, Ann, Susanna, Jessie, Russell, LeeAnna & Jimmy:
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO JESSIE TODAY!!! Jessie will turn 14 years old today and I hope she will have a
WONDERFUL day.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO JEANNIE ON SATURDAY!!! Jeannie will turn 29 (?) and I hope she will have a WONDERFUL day.
Patrice - it was SO fun to talk to you this morning. I am always alarmed when any of you from out of town call at "Prime Time" so I was happy when Patrice assured me right from the first that everything was okay. I realize that you have to call when it is convenient for you with your little baby and I hope I didn't talk too long. I had watched the weather news earlier and I know they are predicting stormy weather in Little Rock for today and I am always concerned about the tornadoes.
I told Patrice that John and Julianna are so well organized and they brought over a schedule of events for their wedding day last night. I will send you each one in my letter today. I know it will be much easier to be where we are supposed to be and at the right time if we have a schedule to follow.
I had such a fun time last night. The Woolleys always come over on Sunday night and just before they got here, the Weinerts came and before they all left, John and Julianna came. We had such a fun time talking about all the wedding plans and I believe they finalized where they wanted the guest book, the "line", the serving tables and the chairs, etc.
The Roy Mellors will arrive on Friday (I believe it will be the same plane they have come in on before and it gets here about noon time). The Weinerts are going to come down to stay with us that night and hopefully on Saturday night too. Friday night, Jeannie and Patrice and I will make chicken salad, fix the strawberries and the lemon wedges and maraschino cherries for the glasses. I will have the chicken breasts all cooked and de-boned so it won't take long to add the rest of the ingredients.
Saturday morning, Jean, Rick & I will leave here about 9 o'clock to go to the Jordan River Temple in my car. Roy & Patrice will each drive a car with children in it - one will drive the Weinert's car and one will drive the car they rent - and they will leave here about 10 o'clock with their children and the Weinert's children. You will see by the schedule that we will all be on the temple grounds about 11:15 waiting for the bride and groom to come out and we will all be there to have pictures taken.
Ann and Ron will take their children with them when they go about 9 o'clock. I don't know what the Bob Mellors are planning. The temple ceremony will not be over 45 minutes long at the very longest so the children could wait right at the temple. I know you will all be able to figure this out without my help.
The only problem I can see is figuring out what to wear for which pictures. The children will all be in their "wedding clothes" for the reception pictures at the Woolleys but I believe they will be in other Sunday clothes for the temple and luncheon pictures. I REALLY want a picture of all the grandchildren together in their "wedding clothes". John and Julianna are getting the same photographer who has taken out other family pictures to do their wedding pictures and he will be with us most of the day, I think.
The Woolleys are having their deck fixed SO nice. I am going to be praying mighty hard for good weather so it can be outside. They will have a "hot tub" next to their home and then the deck extended out almost to the fence of the home South of them.
Last week was a busy one as usual. I had the Relief Society board meeting here on Wednesday night and there is always a lot of preparation on my part for that. I went into Salt Lake one day to go to the Market Street Broiler to buy some of the lobster pasta salad so we could try it before we decided definitely to serve that at the reception. We were REALLY disappointed in what it was - it was spaghetti, spinach leaves and VERY LITTLE lobster with Italian dressing on it. We decided after tasting it that it would be better to serve chicken salad croissant sandwiches.
One of the men who served with us in Montana died last week so I went to his viewing in Lehi. He and his wife were in charge of the Cody Visitor's Center in Cody, Wyoming and they did a wonderful job. He died of intestinal fibrosis - whatever that is. He was an "Evans" from Lehi and his family helped settle it so he had a lot of family ties over there but he and his wife lived in those condominiums East of the Provo Temple. That's the second time in two weeks that I have gone to Lehi for a viewing.
Chris & Wayne Smith called me one evening last week. I had told them about John's wedding plans and suggested that they come to Utah at that time. They said they weren't going to come to Utah this Summer because they are going to have too much company. Wayne is going to help his brother build a home in Arkansas and since Rick & Linda are going to move to Conway they will be helping them. Rick and Linda's 14 month old son fell out of an upstairs window in their home in Little Rock - Wayne said it was about a 14 foot fall. They had him in the hospital for observation for a day or so but evidently he is okay - I guess it scared them all pretty much. Their children have had a lot of narrow
escapes.
That's all the news. I LOVE YOU ALL VERY MUCH. PLEASE BE VERY CAREFUL IN EVERYTHING YOU DO AND LET ME KNOW HOW I CAN HELP YOU.
