HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO LITTLE KATIE THIS THURSDAY!!! I'll bet she is going to have a party and I'll be anxious to hear all about it. It's hard to believe she and Emily are 6 years old - I wish they were closer so they could grow up together. Actually I wish Katie were closer to me so I could see her grow up - Ha!!! I'll get in trouble for that.
CONGRATULATIONS TO BARJI ON MAKING THE CHEER LEADING TEAM FOR HER SCHOOL. I am thrilled for her because it will be a lot of fun but I hope all of you will try out for "EVERYTHING" in your schools and if you don't make it you just try out again and have lots of fun in whatever you do.
It's now 4 o'clock and I just remembered I hadn't written my weekly letter!!! I am REALLY getting too old - I am having a hard time keeping everything straight. We had our Relief Society Presidency meeting here this morning - we have it every Monday morning and there are one million things to do. I am preparing food for the Missionary Zone Leader's Conference in the morning. I had told them I would help serve it but one of my sweet friends in Lehi died and her funeral is in the morning. This lady's name is Leola Allred and I just talked to her about a month ago and she was SO worried about her husband because he is very ill and then she died unexpectedly. I really don't seek out funerals so I just may go for the viewing.
I went to Tug Jacobsen's viewing last week - he is Barbara Sondrup's father and he has had Alzheimer's disease for about 5 years. He wandered away from his home and fell and broke his neck so it was kinda' sad but a blessing for him to die. I enjoyed seeing Barbara and Kevin and their family again.
I have worried about the Roy Mellors the past few days. They have been predicting tornado storms in their area. I called Chris yesterday to tell her about Tug and she told me they were having a lot of rain in Little Rock but no tornadoes. I hope everything is okay with you'all.
I had such a fun time on Saturday. Jean, Ann, Barji and Susanna came to go to the Orem Women's Club Fashion Show and Luncheon with me. I thought it was really nice and then after that we all went to the Woolleys and visited ALL afternoon. It was fun to see their "new" family room downstairs - it is SUPER nice!!! They are now making plans to extend their deck and that will also be super nice. I worry that they are doing too much for John and Juliannas' wedding reception but Ann keeps reassuring me they had planned to do it anyway - they're just speeding it up!!!
I haven't seen John and Julianna for a long time. I have talked to them on the phone and once in a while John will drop by to pick up his mail. Julianna is making some kind of a poster of their childhood pictures for their reception and also for their apartment so she asked me to look for some pictures of John. That has taken me FOREVER because I have loved looking at the pictures. They are deteriorating in the albums though and I need to get the special ones out and have copies made.
I know Bob & Claire and their family are doing fine. This is the time of year when they like to take off and go camping and I don't blame them. It is really beautiful here.
It was my turn to take my luncheon club out for lunch last week. The hostess gets to pick the place so I chose to take them to "Porter's Place" in Lehi. It is really country compared to most of the places we go but they enjoyed it. After eating we all went to the cemetery and put daffodils on Daddy's grave (some of the other members in the club also have family members buried in Lehi). After that I took them to see the farm. The farm is just beautiful now - everything is so green and the cattle look so contented.
I went to two book reviews last week. We have started something new in our Relief Society - we have a cultural arts specialist and asked her to organize book reviews - one in the afternoon for those sisters who don't work and one in the evening for the working sisters. I wanted to support her so I went to both of them and they were WONDERFUL!!! I was embarrassed because most of the sisters who attended are very cultured and I'm just trying to be - Ha!!!
I am going to our Family Home Evening group tonight and we are going out to dinner first. We're going to "Joe Vera's" - it's a Mexican restaurant and it is unusual for that kind of a restaurant because it is very pretty and quite formal.
I believe that is all the news and if I hurry I will be able to take this to the Post Office in time to go out tonight.
I love you all very much. PLEASE BE VERY CAREFUL IN EVERYTHING YOU DO. Let me know how I can help you.
