I got up even before the sun this morning and that's really something for me!!! I wanted to get my leaves raked up before the garbage man came so I wouldn't have to take them over to Lehi. It was raining so I put on Daddy's duck hunting rain coat and I looked funny but I got them all raked and put in the garbage. It is really cold and the predictions are that we will have snow by tomorrow and it will snow through Thanksgiving. Once it snows I don't usually rake any leaves that fall. My neighbor, Keith Smith, hadn't raked his leaves at all and he has a big walnut tree with huge leaves - I have worried so about them ruining his lawn but there was no way I could get over to his back yard to rake them for him. When I came home from Farmington on Saturday night, I noticed his yard was all cleaned up. I talked to Vonnie at church yesterday and she said they had a company come in and they raked and shredded them and hauled three big truckloads away. There are still leaves falling but I'm not going to worry about them.
I had a great time with my Weinert grandchildren and they were SO good. Jeannie had done all the hard work - she had driven all the carpools for several weeks in advance so all I had to do was to make certain the children were ready to go where they were supposed to go. I only fouled up once and that was with Sarah - her ride came and she came running to me and said, "They're here for me" - I hurried and looked on the schedule Jeannie had left and sure enough I had goofed. She didn't have to make them wait too long though. I love being with the children - they are so happy and also so worried that they will do something wrong while I'm with them. I would almost like them to misbehave a little!!! Jeannie and Rick said they had a wonderful time in the St. Thomas Islands.
Bob & Claire invited me to go to lunch with them on Wednesday and that was so special for me - we went to the Red Lobster. It was wonderful to visit with them - I haven't seen them for months. I had some coupons from ZCMI that expired that day so Claire went shopping with me and helped me pick out a new Winter dress coat. I don't know what is in style and what isn't so I really appreciated her going with me and I love my coat. I also got to see little Katie - she had three little friends over to play with while her baby sitter cared for her. Bob and Claire have had their home decorated for the holidays - they were having a party on Friday night. I wanted their children to come have dinner and play with their Weinert cousins that night but Claire had already made other arrangements. Bob is busy getting ready to go to Mexico - I believe he leaves the first weekend in December - he, an anesthesiologist and an obstetrician are going.
Emily - I love having your sweet little message on the phone when I came home. It was too late on Saturday when I got home so I couldn't return your call but I'll call you soon. Roy & Patrice - the pictures of little Jesse Lynn are just precious and especially the one with Emily & Timothy. I took them to my Family Home Evening meeting the night I got them and everyone agreed that he's the most beautiful baby ever!!! I love the darling note cards you have sent Patrice - I don't know where you find them but you always have the most darling cards I have ever seen. I could hear some coughing in the background when Emily called me - I hope you have been able to shake off your colds.
Ron - Thank you SO much for helping me with the truck. Ron has worried about that all Summer and has told me that it was just ruining while at the farm but I haven't known what to do about it. Saturday night, Ann & Ron took some transmission fluid over to the farm and Ann said she climbed into the engine part while Ron made a funnel and held the flashlight so she should pour it where it was supposed to go. They got it started and even put the top on it - in the dark. Then Ron drove it to a gas station close by where he works and told the guy to fix it so it could pass the emission test if he could do it for $100. Ron said it would be much easier to sell if it could be licensed. I REALLY appreciate your help Ron!!!
I haven't seen or heard from John for several weeks. Ann told me that he was in Las Vegas last week attending a computer convention - how convenient - Ha!!! I am assuming he is going to Fort Worth for Thanksgiving to be with
Julianna's family but I don't know for sure. Ann tells me that I didn't do a very good job in teaching my sons to R.S.V.P.
I came back to Orem last Thursday so I could go to my luncheon club meeting. The hostess is a member of the Provo Country Club so she had the luncheon there and it was REALLY nice. I got here in time to change clothes and then I left right after the luncheon so it worked out fine. Friday morning I met Ellen Mae and we walked at the Layton Mall and we visited while we walked for about two hours. She came over to Jeannies on Saturday and we watched the BYU-Utah football game - BYU lost - the first time they have lost to Utah in Provo in about 20 years. She was making some favors for her Thanksgiving dinner so she brought a sample to me and I'm going to try to make some for Ann's dinner.
It will be fun to be with some of the family for Thanksgiving. Bob & Claire are hosing the Ezell Family Thanksgiving, Roy & Patrice and their family won't be able to travel this year with their new little baby and John probably won't be here but we'll have a wonderful time with those who come and especially Ron's family. Carol & Elly called and invited me to go "Thanksgiving" with them - they're going to meet at the Excelsior Hotel in Provo - that wouldn't even seem like Thanksgiving to me. CHRISTMAS SHOPPING TIME IS HERE AND I DO NOT WANT ONE THING - OKAY!!!!
