Dearest John; Roy, Patrice, Emily, Timothy & Jesse; Bob, Claire, Michael, Laura, Brett & Katie; Rick, Jean, Ricky, Barbara Jean, Mary Ann & Sarah; and Ron, Ann, Susanna, Jessie, Russell, LeeAnna & Jimmy:
This week is birthday week for Bob - Happy Birthday on Saturday Bob!!! I am wondering if you are in Mexico - it seems to me that you were planning to go the first part of November.
What a thrill to add another name to my salutation!!! I can't get over how surprised I am - I was SO sure they were going to have a little girl. Patrice's weight gain was all baby - she was SO small while I was there and it's hard to believe she was carrying an 8 pound little guy. I talked to them this morning and they are doing great. Suzie went home on Saturday and Roy has this week off so Patrice will have time to recuperate a little longer before she has to get in "full swing". They said that Emily and Timothy were SO thrilled with little Jesse and Emily will still hold him even when he starts to cry. She will be a lot of help for Patrice - she is so responsible and capable.
I just talked to Ann and they had a wonderful time in San Antonio. I didn't know it but Ron had conferences there and he is still there and won't came home for a couple days. Ann told me about a friendship that Ron has had with a man for about thirty years and he turned out to be the son of some our best friends in Phoenix - Tim Hoyt. There were two Hoyt families there and they both named their sons, Tim. Forrest and Marjorie Hoyt and the son Tim who was close to Ann's age and Ard and LaPreal Hoyt had the son who is Ron's friend. They were roommates at BYU. Anyway, this Tim was at the conference in San Antonio and they spent a lot of time together. I am usually the one who makes "connections" so I'm glad Ann is carrying on the tradition. Ann said their children were very well cared for and their home was just perfect when she came in last night.
I got up really early this morning and raked some leaves so I could put them in the garbage can before they came to pick it up. Then I went to do some extraction work so I am late in getting my letter written - it will be short - aren't you glad???? I have taken about ten loads of leaves and gardens clippings over to the farm already and I have that many more. It is supposed to rain on Wednesday so I need to get more raked up soon - there will still be plenty of them for Thanksgiving!!!
I had such a nice surprise on Saturday. Linda Smithers called me from Bountiful where she was visiting her daughter, Deniece, and said they wanted to come see me. We had such a wonderful visit - you just wouldn't believe Linda - she looks younger than she did when we knew them in Little Rock. Deniece has two beautiful children and she is beautiful too but she is worn out - her children are very close together - 1 year and 3 years. Linda seems to be really happy - she is working with her son Brad doing decorating catering. She said she has 600 centerpieces to do for New Year's Eve for some of the hotels. They are going to have a family reunion at Deniece's at Christmas time - Brad & Shauna and Danielle and her boy friend along with Linda will all come from Las Vegas.
John came over one afternoon last week and we had a good visit. I haven't really seen much of him for several months. He is almost too busy - he really is enjoying his school and says he can apply the things he is learning as he does his business work. I wouldn't be surprised to hear something definite about plans he and Juliana have together - he told me to not be surprised!!! He doesn't read my letters or I wouldn't dare write that - Ha!!!
I'll bet Jeannie & Rick are getting excited about their trip to St. Thomas. I am planning to be at your home before the children come home from school on Tuesday, the 16th - can you hide a house key somewhere? I'm looking forward to being with the children - I just hope they won't ask for help with their math homework!!!
That's all the news.
